Good post.
Food-blech, I can get a pop for cheap and get dinner when I get back to my hotel.
Parking-Good thing im from outta state.
Crowds-Get rid of those ebgames fools. They're not getting anything but free swag and space on the floor. Oh, and there are too many people who needed to shower.*gross*
Noise-Tone it down, this isn't a competition!!
Booth Babes-They're there because sex sells. If you've got a problem with nerdy guys groing the chicks, then tell them not too, but the girls have brains you know, they can function without you.
I liked E3 the one time I went. No, i'm not a clerk at some game store, nor am I a small publication. Just a game multimedia student going for a degree and then to level design somewhere.
Can't someone give me a damn link for this bill? I live in MI, and though it won't stop me from buying games, IE i'm not a minor, it'd be nice to read what they're trying to pass. But yet, I cannot find it in that link. So help me out please! Thank you.
This is what I think.
17+ games shouldnt be sold to anyone under 17. It's the same for renting rated R movies, you have to be 17(or maybe it was 18, my minds fried right now). Now should the game company be sued? No. Should the retailer be sued? Yes. If the retailer is selling games to minors when the rating is clearly on there, they should be sued. It's standard practice not to sell 17+ material to minors. I don't get the big problem over this. Retailers shouldn't be second parents, but they should be following the ratings. Parents who buy those 17+ for their 10 year olds are just dumb parents, or they have really mature 10 year olds...riiiiiight.
Poor, poor game companies. What don't they understand? Who hasn't seen the MMO's sky rocket because people want multiplayer capabilities? Give a game multiplayer online and you've got a seller.
Example of what NOT to do:
Make Coded Arms(PSP) only Ad Hoc mode(Must be within certain amount of ft to play with other player), no Infrastructure(Over internet) mode there. That makes me unlikely to buy the game since I don't know many people who own a 250$ Handheld gaming device. You limit the game and its huge market and re-play value right from the start. Bad move Konami!
Get it in your heads game developers, YOU NEED THE INTERNET for multiplayer!
The Inquirer is a cheaply produced newstand piece of funky garbage. The stories are never close to being real, and they exaggerate everything.
Britneys not having twins, she's having quaddruplets!!
Why do they have to use her for Alice? Can't we get someone BETTER? Blah, I won't be seeing this simply because we don't need some no class hollywood actors in it. I wish they could've found someone better. *sigh*
I hope that EQ3 will be like EQ1, because EQ2 is just crap after awhile. EQ1 was MUCHO better than EQ2. All the expanion packs in the world won't help this game. They should've had this content in the game from day 1, not months later.
They should take FFI-whatever # it was when they were 2d or 1d, whatever, and make them into 3d realms. I'd enjoy looking at the city of Elfheim(sp) from FFI, or the castles they had in that game, as well as the bosses. The drawings they use for those games is nice as well, and I think they should incorporate those into the games. I'd really enjoy a 3d version of FFTactics, complete with the tactic system is has now, same world too. I know FFXII is going to be that world, but it's not the same game, and that is the ugly part. I love FFTA, but put that into a 3d world and it'll be even better.
I do find that allowing companies like Best Buy, EBGames, Gamestop, etc. to be givin badges is a bit over due for a cut off. They sell the games. They aren't reporting on them, trying to learn new technologies or education's about them(Besides personal use). I think for media it's great, the games get more exposure and things can be reported to many parts of the world live from the show. But I believe the reason E3 is not a public show is because it was or should be geared more towards the people in it's industry trying to impress, or show off whats new and whats up and coming in the gaming world.
I've been to E3 2004, and it was very much a zoo. You have the people who beg and run(literally) to get as much free stuff as possible(And maybe even to sell it on eBay). You have the people there to test out new technologies, ask questions directly to the producers and some team members, and find out what they themselves can do to improve the gaming world. You also have the game hogs who never get off of big name titles, and those who love to record every little bit of everything(even the earwax of booth babes). You also have the students who wish to join the industry soon. The ones who are learning whatever technology they wish to accel in to gain a career out of it. I fall into this catagory. I went to E3 because i'm a distance student at UAT and UAT gets passes to go because of the Game Multimedia program they offer, and their connections from teachers.
So I ask this, who is E3 really for? The every day consumer, the industry watchdogs, or the industry itself(including those on the path to it)?
I'd believe it's part watchdog part industry itself. The every day consumer will eventually find out whats going on and coming soon. But I think E3 should be geared more towards those people there already(or coming).
(Ok i'm done =D )
To all you people who don't even work in the industry or TV/Movies/Music/Games, I don't believe you understand really the whole deal of it. You just go on to say they get paid enough already for doing Voice Acting. Are you a VA? Do you do it for a living? Why are you telling them to get a new job? That is there job.
VA's get paid for their performance per hour and thats it. They don't work 40/80 hours a week like programmers. Maybe a day or two and that's it. What they're asking is to be paid an amount per game sold for their talent. If they do a 4 hour day recording their parts for a game, and the game goes on to sell 10 million units, i'd be a bit irked too because I worked on the game and will have only made a basket full of cash compared to the maxed out bank account the producers get. I know, they could've negotiated it, but that isn't always going to work in their favor. It may seem like an afterthought for us, but for them it's how they make a living.
I'm not saying I agree with them, but I would say that games that sell millions should give back a little bit to the people who made them get that way. Maybe not like per game, but maybe after so many have sold.
I sure hope they have a strong lineup...because after paying anywhere near that price for a console, they better have something worth playing to back up the price.
I have a PSP and I have no issues with bad pixels, no issue with the Square button, and like the games that've come out for it at release. It has great potentional as well. Homebrew is right around the corner, as well as a keyboard.
Where are your balls DICE? Did they get cut off by EA? I bet they did!
Now we can choose from the following games,
"WWII:Secret Holy War" "Vietnam:Conflict-Resolution" "Need for Speed:Antartica Underground Street Racer Collection"
I do not believe this to be a good thing, except for 3rd party controllers.
Example, you want to play a fighting game of an old school caliber, but the analog stick just doesn't feel right...Use the D-Pad, it's probably what you used when you first played anyway(Street Fighter II-Super Nintendo). I believe the D-pad on the Gamecube controller was way too small, and thus gamers didn't use it much. It's as big as my thumb, and that just doesn't work when I want to hit the right d-pad, not top, bottom, right all at the same time. If they adopted the d-pad from SNES they would've had no problem with people using it more.
It's a sad day when Nintendo takes away something so...so perfect.
The only person who should get in trouble is the girl! She's the one who did it, was probably drinking (underage as well), and probably thought no one would ever see it. Now Joe-Blow at her High School pirated the game from the, enter-net, and saw her and recognized her from his Bioligy class. Then he proceeds to tell people, and she proceeds to take the defensive and say she's a good christian girl who has real morals and is underage and doesn't want this to ruin her future. Family sues game company, game consoles, people who filmed it, etc.
Now, let me get this straight...You mean to tell me if I cut my arm off with a Craftsmen Saw, I can sue Craftsmen for cutting off my arm? Sweeeeeeeet!
Lets all go out and make bad decisions, and then get defensive, and sue everyone!
Id think people would rather play the game WoW(or any other MMO) than play the bidding game. Guess I was wrong, and, oh crap I just lost that short sword of the uber to some clown who bid faster.
Wow, bidding just makes the whole game so much more fun!
as though the reviewer would be biased on his opinion because he was so into WoW in the first place. Which is unfourtanet because there then would be no easy review, nor even trial...but...maybe they weren't biased. *yeah right* =P

sell out, to me oh yeah, sell out to me

Well dead people can't talk, so I guess his defense was an easy one to make up =\
Millionaire just played games to get rich!
