I don't speak much French, but I have a good semantic sense, so what they're saying to me is that since an invention can be broken down into components, then they can choose which part of an invention falls under the law. A web browser is computer-controlled of course (unless it's buggy and out of control). But its innovations exist directly as software. You can't patent the BLINK tag and you can't patent the whole of HTML and you everything in between!

Remember, France has had the Web better than us for 30 years. Google for "Minitel"...they're more advanced than us. Yes and their women are hot. I'm learning French!

  8. Weird yet equally plausible explanation on Intel Seeking Moore's Law Original Publication · · Score: -1

Since e=mc2, wouldn't it be equivalent to say that chip speed stays the same and everything else, such as Windows, halves its speed during the same time? That would explain why Intel and Microsoft hain't released much lately. That doesn't take into account the fact that Motorola and Apple have been tag-teaming the universe lately...both their chips and their OS are getting an approximate speed doubling this month due to auto-vectorization in GCC 4.0, despite neither being upgraded in 18 months.

It's new stuff that doesn't quite have a decent purpose yet. Say you could really use it instead of a keyboard (not for hours, just minutes) and now imagine that in addition to drawing a keyboard in light it draws a user interface too. Considering that you can pack enough processor power into a phone to do address books, web browsing, video phone, etc etc, I think we're a lot closer to the mythical Watch Computer. Sweet!
