It may just be the beginning.
Didn't they try to hire one of the OS people from MS? Also google labs says:
Passionate about these topics? You should work at Google.
algorithms
artificial intelligence ....blablabla operating systems
This does not give a definite answer to anything and it could imply lots of other things but it is a good clue. Everything they are doing shows that they are far far from done.
Yea! the nerve of google. They even treat their employees well which annoys the hell out of other companies because now they are forced to do the same.
It all depends on what you believe is intelligent. The definition of intelligence is a matter of perception.
Is "intelligence" that allows you to derive a technique to conquer the world with ingenious weapons while causing great pain and suffering to everyone really intelligent?
Arguing over some numbers that are supposed to measure this "intelligence" while there are so many other worthwhile things to do is really stupid. Are we still stuck in the same neanderthal mindset that thinks that it really matters that some groups are "better" than others. That is very counter productive and a waste of everyone's time.
Plus it gives the apes of our generation an excuse to be sexist and racist.
Even with all this money flowing in it seems as if the video game industry is one of the most difficult ones to get into. A few companies will keep getting bigger and richer and the people creating these games will keep getting over worked and less appreciated. But I guess that's what happens everywhere.
Does any one have a list of revenues of other industries? I know the film industry made approximately $24 billion in 2004.
PLAYED:Thanks for giving us the opportunity to speak with you. BEN S:Hey, no problem. PLAYED:Great, Ben. Where are you located at? BEN S:I'm in Laffayete, Colorado PLAYED:How long have you been playing WoW? BEN S:I've been playing it since open beta. PLAYED:Since open beta? BEN S:I pretty much got it right when it came out. PLAYED:What drew you to it, are you a big fan of Blizzard? BEN S:Yeah. I've always played a lot of Blizzard stuff, they usually make pretty quality games. PLAYED:Is WoW your favorite of the bunch? BEN S:It's hard to say. I've played a lot of everything but so far WoW has been pretty good. PLAYED:Do you play any other MMOGS? BEN S:I don't currently, but I have played others in the past.
PLAYED:Which titles? BEN S:Shadowbane was the one I got the most into. I played some Ragnarok online, and Lineage II for a month or two. Back in the day, I played a little Ultima Online. PLAYED:Cool. PLAYED:So you've been playing WoW from the beginning. What aspect of the game do you enjoy the most? BEN S:Just screwing with people, mostly (laughs) PLAYED:So you play on a PVP server then (laughing)? BEN S:Yeah. PLAYED:So what level is Leeroy? BEN S:Leeroy is 60. PLAYED:What is his PVP rank, currently? BEN S:He's a sergeant currently, I haven't got a chance to do a whole lot of PVP yet. PLAYED:Sergeant is still nice, I haven't even made grunt yet. PLAYED:We are really looking forward to the Battleground patch. PLAYED:Hopefully the level 60's won't pick on us too much. We are all around level 40. BEN S:Yeah, at level 40 it's gonna be rough. PLAYED:We assume that Leeroy is you main, how many alts do you have? BEN S:I have a couple low-level alts. A couple of only level 10. In total I have actually made... 9 characters. All those, except leeroy and one other, are below level 30. I have a level 60 Tauren on a separate server, too. PLAYED:Nice.
PLAYED:What occupation is Leeroy currently? BEN S:He's a miner/engineer. PLAYED:That's the hardest one, really. PLAYED:We assume you are still in league with The Pals 4 Life? BEN S:Yeah, we still do our stuff. (laughs) I did get kicked out of the guild for five minutes after this instance. PLAYED:(laughs) PLAYED:How many people are in P4L? BEN S:Technically, we have around a hundred players in the guild. PLAYED:Wow, that's quite a few. BEN S:Yeah, but only 25 or so are really active. Most of them are alts. PLAYED:You've been with P4L from the beginning then? BEN S:Yeah. It partially existed before we started WoW. PLAYED:How much would you say you play a week? To get to level sixty you must be playing a good amount. BEN S:Yeah. I play a lot really, I'm currently unemployed so that helps (laughs) PLAYED:(laughs) BEN S:(laughing) Yeah, if you know of any good jobs, send them my way. PLAYED:We'll keep our eye out for you. BEN S:On average, I play about four or five hours a day. Some days I take a break. PLAYED:Let's talk about the video. What inspired the name of your character, Leeroy Jenkins? Is he a character from a movie or something you made up?
BEN S:It was pretty much made up. I was sitting around with a few guild-mates drinking forties... PLAYED:(laughs) That's where all great things come from - drinking forties with your buddies. BEN S:Right. So we start throwing out name for each other and Leeroy Jenkins popped out. I like the name because it was fun to yell. PLAYED:(laughs) PLAYED:You know the video has spread all over the Internet by now. We had even seen references to the video at E3 this year. Now that everyone has seen it, some people want to know if the video was staged. Was it? BEN S:(laughs) We want people to make that decision themselves. It seems more fun that way. PLAYED:(laughs) We are certainly happy to leave it a mystery. PLAYED:So we saw the video just a few days ago, and it seems like it grew phenomenally fast. Everyone at the office w
I realize that your post was meant as a joke but I'll go ahead and clarify any way that the hand cutting only happens in Saudi Arabia (and Iran probably) and not in India.
Even if you have a look around you are changing the future because of the extra sensory data you take back with you.
The extra data will influence your thoughts and thoughts influence your actions.
Does the theory assume that you come back to the present you left behind?
Maybe nintendo could make developers register with them first after a screening process and release a disclaimer to download independant games at the users own risk.
"Like Xbox 360, PS3 will have 512MB of RAM, but unlike its rival console, which has a unified memory architecture that shares RAM betwen the CPU and GPU, it will divide that up in much the same way that modern PCs do - with 256MB of very high speed XDR main RAM running at 3.2Ghz, and 256MB of GDDR graphics RAM running at 700Mhz."
Both have 512 MB but XBOX360s RAM is unified. I guess benchmarks will tell us if that causes a real difference or not
There is a huge PC gamer community and I'm sure many would want to play games that look like these next gen console games. Why would they spend $1000 on two ATI 6800s (and then multicore processors.. crap loads of RAM etcetc) when they could get an xbox360 or PS3 for around $300 to $400. Plus these have multicore procecssors etc..
Are the prices for PC hardware coming down significantly now? At least low enough so that a $1500 computer would be able to do everything a PS3 could do?
Whats the estimated PS3 release date?
I think buying a game system on release is a bad idea. High prices, low selection of games. Plus I'd rather wait and see what PS3 and Revolution are like.
Wasn't this the same mistake Sony made with dreamcast? Lots of people didn't buy it just because they all were waiting to see what PS2 was going to be all about. but then again.. Microsoft knows how to market a product.. This will be interesting.
Same thing can be said about.. Popup blockers and Spyware removers.
Are they breaking a "social contract" by removing the spyware/blocking popups that some sites/apps use?
I understand what the article is saying but but they could have worded it better.
My home computer can easily kick XBOX ones arse eaaasily and I really hate that. I want consoles to be designed for gaming only. Not a PC in a teeny box (xbox1). It should be able to do something that my PC is unable to do for a very very long time. I upgraded my PC and within 4 months of XBOX 1 release my PC was better than all the consoles on the market.
These specs appear very impressive but will I be able to out do it as easily in a years time as I did with XBOX1? Upgrading my current machine to that is impossible.. so that seems like a good step.
I'd certainly be interested if the cost of this turns out to be $300:-D
Heres some more information I found about the naming of macintosh apples.
"The Macintosh project began at Apple as one code-named Annie, and spearheaded not by Steve Jobs (he actually lobbied against the Mac project at one point) but by Jeff Raskin, a former computer professor and Apple employee number 31. Raskin is generally credited with quickly changing the codename from Annie to Macintosh, an obvious tie to the Apple brand. Macintosh was spelled differently than the apple variety, however, in an unsuccessful attempt to avoid trademark disputes. Apple itself, lore has it, was named by Steve Jobs for either his love of the Beatles (and their Apple Records label), his interest in health foods, or because of his fond experiences working in the apple orchards of Oregon during a brief stint at college there. Or for none of those reasons. Except for the short-lived Pippin operating system, Apple the company thankfully avoided any other product references to varieties of apple, the fruit."
There may exist controversy around the topic of global warming and global warming may just be part of this planets natural way of evolving into whatever global climate is next. There were many types of global climates in the past and there is no proof that humans are the ones causing this temperature change.... and I read somewhere that termites and cows produce more green house gases than humans....
But if the fear of global warming causes people to adapt a cleaner and healthier lifestyle then so be it and i'm all for it and infact there should be active participation by all people to keep the enviornment clean.
People should, however, learn to share their concern about global warming with other global disastors happening.. or waiting to happen.. Illiteracy rates, population explosion, terrible health care for people, etc.. should all be taken care of and they all pose a huge short term risk which is much greater than the risk of global warming.

September 2008?
Does trash talking really help CEOs of major companies? It sounds like a WWE soap opera almost.
Google has already proven that its not a one hit wonder. They've had hit upon hit upon hit.
Does Google talk trash? I don't recall them making any bold stupid statements and that alone makes me like them more.
Come on google release an operating system to really get things interesting.

As far as I can tell that seems like an old design because the other pictures have a different color and the eject button is placed differently.
For all the pictures go to:

When you type 'muderfocker' in OpenOffice it corrects it to the actual curse phrase. When you type 'muderfocker' in Word 2003 is has no suggestions.
OpenOffice 2.0 is CLEARLY superior!
Sad news indeed. :(

haha. It's not too late. You could still buy me a dictionary instead of sending money to a global warming relief fund.
