Exactly what i am thinking about Blizzard. I played lots of Diablo 2 but it was no fun to lose hardcore characters because you get disconnected. I left before LoD was published but i don't think they ever changed this. So surviving a HC character was more luck than skill. It is not really Blizzards fault because connections can break anywhere, but it is their fault that they never took this into account.
The die-hard Blizzard fans out here are also a funny phenomenon. These fans always protect Blizzard.. "It isn't their fault, they are trying as hard as they can..." No, they are not! They could do better if they want to. But fact is they don't give a crap about their customers. The users are like drug addicts and Blizzard is the dealer. Look at D2, technically this game was bad, really bad. Come on, 640x480 resolution? I always wanted higher resolution, but the die hard Blizzard fans said "STFU, it is for fairness reasons, everyone should be able to run the same resolution to not take an advantage of better PCs bla bla bla." Guess, what, later they upped the resolution and every Blizzard fan was shouting "Hoorray, Blizzard gave us higher resolution" Just plain stupid. I had a top notch PC when i bought Diablo 2, but still the game was pretty laggy in some situations. As i said, 640x480 resolution and it is a freakin' 2D game. The development took so long, a game with this little eyecandy should run flawlessly. I wanted to play an amazone that shot fire arrows. The fire stayed on screen several seconds and after some shots the fps were like 1 frame per second or worse. Whhoah, nice work there, Blizzard. Another masterpiece was the boss monster in the desert level. After entering the cave of the monster there is a rather long delay. And if the connection to the server was slow, the monster could score several hits on you before you even see it on screen. Many people died because Blizzard was to stupid to add a simple room just before the room with the boss monster.
One day as i was clicking on monsters to kill them trying not to die through drinking potions at the right time i thought "what the hell am i doing here?" I turned off the game, deinstalled it, sold it and never looked back.
If i'd order a PC i would include Windows if i'm going to use it because the license is cheaper most of the time. If i won't use Windows i also wouldn't pay it.
Don't forget the giant structures that are embedded into the mars mountains with all those nifty machines that will send you back if in emergency... well, to an alien planet far away. But you won't have to stay on boring Mars. On Moon you would only find an old dead NASA astronaut.
Just watch the Hollywood documentaries and you'll agree.
In fact we Germans follow the rules most of the time. It is somewhat typical german to follow our leaders, take everything for granted and live with it. But we also complain and moan about everything, the politician, the economic, the wealthy people. Rarely we stand up to protest against the government. It is just the way ist is. But talking about youth+downloading, seriously they don't give a s***.
Starflight was one of the best. Makes you feel how lonely it can get driving around on empty planets looking for ruins. And then if the energy runs out:) Great, great, great. But hwat about Elite. This can't be a comparison of histroical games without Elite. The very first game i bought. And actually it does still look good compared to modern space games. It has 3D.
The team should make an "open source" Futurama series. -> Mozilla Futurama -> SpreadFuturama.com -> Fundraising (i would pay) -> Mozilla Futurama NY Times ad -> FuturamaFlicks.com
> How can Google create an online payment system without competing with PayPal? Google doesn't want to piss off eBay, because eBay is one of Google's largest advertisers -- so I completely understand why Google would say that they won't compete directly against PayPal -- I get it. Never bite the hand that feeds.
As soon as a Google payment service is up and running they can piss off Ebay and start counting the incoming money. Ebay doesn't advertise on Google to keep Google calm but because this attracts more users.
A long time ago i worked at a company where you checked in and out with a card. You could hold the whole wallet against the scanner and it read your ID.

And you don't care that all your business correspondence will be able to be read by Google? If i were a customer i wouldn't want another company to get insight in confidential email i send to a company i am doing business with.
Look at what amount of profit some known spammer make. And if you wonder where it comes from... search for the rate that people react to spam messages and advertised products. This rate is especially high in the US. (Well, most spamvertised products are useless outside the US). Compare the rate with the amount of sent emails.
Conclusion: If people would stop to react to spam emails spam would be much less.
I just finished the game and think that 5/10 is a bit low. I would say 7/10 is ok. It was less fun than the first two games, but still ok. The cutscenes are crap, even for consoles, i think. The weapons are fun, IMHO, but the standard weapons are almost never used. Thw worst thing of the game is the last level. That was no fun at all. And i even had to cheat when the last bomber horde released. There was no way to get out of it alive.
"Come take a trip through time, and see how a franchise went from a cult hit to a cultural phenomenon, set the tone for an entire generation,..."
Are you kidding? Looks like the editor has lost the ground. After all the GTA series is just a bunch of games. Very good ones, at least the 3D games. But there is no way these games a "cultural phenomenon, set the tone for an entire generation". Not for a generation of people, maybe for a generation of games. Depens on how you read it. If you look at the culture portrayed in the games... Vice City is clearly 80s Miami Vice style and San Andreas uses all the gangsta stuff.
Well, actually... Bill Gates was the one who said that they would rather implement new features than fix old bugs. That is why every year or two a new office version comes out, but basic features are not improved.
I am working with OpenOffice and i am migrating my documents from MSO to OOO as needed. As OOO is V2.0 i would guess that it will be improved over time. Full build bumbers are always not very optimized.
For Firefox this error has to be really small. FF never changed its user agent string by default. I had to use the user agent switcher on FF0.8 a long time ago to get access to my banking site. But then they fixed the site and since then i never had to use the user agent switcher again and deinstalled it.
Opera users just needs some self confidence. I have Opera and it is set to identify as Opera, but i am only using it for testing. And IIRC, even if it is set as IE the user agent string is different than that that the real IE. Only some stupid user agent string analyzers don't recognize it.
Shutter glasses with high frequency monitor displaying alternating images runs are doing fine.

I have seen this or a similar beetle at the NitrolympX (dragster event) in Germany.
Nothing new.

I highly doubt that
... finally.
Now i have to confess that i wanted to make a bad G.W. Bush joke.
I like the Fallout Series and i also like 3D games. I just hope for some nice isometric games. I don't think everything has to be 3D.

So, everyone gets a metal plate in his trousers and we can use the elevator shafts leike the tubes in Futurama?

Well, yes, there is nuclear power and there is burning coal... and nothing else of course...
I just wonder what it will look like, if this 650 ton sphere comes down. It should make a nice hole in the ground.
That is also what i did. I'll call it the "Kirk solution".
And i think i have never solved the cube on my own. It was just too boring.
