If Microsoft implements NT on the ARM device, there is a good chance it could run a Linux environment as Windows 10 does today.

Burying plastic seems reasonable. Just let it bake down there in the sun for a few billion years, pull it back out and use it again. Solved.

  11. A use for iBeacon! on Apple's Redesigned London Store Has Untethered iPhones (cnet.com) · · Score: 1

Apple Store could keep constant track each phone's location using beacons. Once an iPhone leaves the table, a helpful employee could approach the shopper, ask if that is the model they wish to purchase, and then start the sales process. With enough beacons scattered, customers could be encouraged to bring a phone along while shopping for accessories. If this increases sales, Apple could afford to let a few bricks go out the door.

  14. Choose an OS the kids can really learn to use on Most Useful OS For High-School Science Education? · · Score: 1

The top priority is that the kids learn how to use a computer. What better platform than Windows? Take your pick between XP, Vista or 7, it doesn't really matter because once the students sit down, the learning process begins. For instance, when they plug in an external drive, they will be presented the pleasure of figuring out why the auto play scanning stopped and cannot be cancelled, leading to a hard shutdown because the Start menu fails to respond any more. Or the joys of learning what sites to avoid otherwise exploits will take over the computer. Perhaps a course on antivirus software would be in order to equip students with the understanding of why it is important to keep their signature files up to date with special instruction that focuses on techniques for uninstalling Norton Antivirus. Really, Windows provides the ideal platform for learning, and if there is time left for other curriculum, then that us wonderful! Otherwise if you just want to teach high-school science instead of CS, then I would suggest Mac.

It is a very emotional and touching story, yet the article underscores the fact that technology is already being abused in this quote, "The cameras are high above the street to catch possible truck bombs, not individual faces." To be sure, in this case the cameras were abused for Good, however it is irresponsible to use this single case to justify the potential for Evil abuse in other cases. Surveillance cameras don't even prevent crime or even terrorist attacks for that matter.

So another company has been awarded a patent for a device that has existed for more than a decade. Only time will tell when they sue Lexicon for enabling 1" type-C machines with the same capability. Or does the fact that it handled digitally make the idea completely different? This is not novel, folks. The shifting up-and-down you've been seeing for years on TBS SuperStation is time compression. And before you jump on the "delay" feature, that has been done too with even older "quad" format. (Klunky, but it worked.) I'd love to see Lexicon go after these guys. RCA can't because their "delay" was well over 20 years ago.
