I get that nothing in the Public Domain can really belong to a single person, but I do claim a certain amount of ownership over the book because I started it, alone, and worked on it alone for many months before it started picking up outside interest. Recently I've gotten back on board with the book and am working to fix some of the problems that have cropped up in the book, such as those that you mention.
You can read more about the evolution of the book here, if you're interested:
"There was video from last week's announcement of a guy demonstrating bowling in Wii Sports. He was making the point that it's so great because "hey look, I'm standing in front of the TV and actually making bowling movements to bowl, just like real bowling!" That certainly has a cool factor, but having to jump up from my seat and flail about to play a game is going to get old fast."

Considering the size of Jupiter, the noxious atmosphere, and the lack of animal or plant life (at least, as we know it), I daresay real estate on Jupiter is rather cheap. The schools on Jupiter (and in surrounding areas) are stellar... or so I hear.
If you don't like Microsoft management or believe in their ability to increase the stock value, WTF are you still holding onto the stock for? I'm sure someone told you that you can sell that stuff and use the money to invest in more profitable stock? If not, consider this your heads-up.
... will probably ever reach this comment, but why doesn't Dell consider creating it's own version of Linux and shipping Linux desktops with Dell Linux instead of depending on whatever distro is out there? It won't cost much them much, it gives them much more control and power over their desktop product, they could easily get a whole community built around it, and of course then it becomes easy to support.
Likewise, why don't Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, etc consider selling and supporting workstations with their distro on them? When I'm in the market for a new laptop or a new desktop, I'd rather go to www.ubuntulinux.com and buy one there that I know will be supported by the OS and everything can come optimized for my hardware... additionally, Ubuntu makes a couple hundred off of me.
... have you considered where that money would be if he didn't control it, how it would have benefited the tech economy and boosted salaries and morale in the industry, and that more than $258 million probably would have gone to this charity if it weren't for him? I argue that Bill Gates has taken much more from the world than he could ever give back.
This comment sponsored by the belief that you can't steal and bully for years and then turn around and donate a small percentage of your ill-gotten gains and somehow expect that you've made a positive difference in the world.
I know people that give everything and take nothing. Truly amazing people. Those people are the real heroes, and I wish I could give them Billy's income, because they are much more deserving, and would do much more good with it.
Lest we forget, that's $258 million that he won with illegal anticompetitive practices. Let's also not forget that he controls so much cash, $258 million isn't a real sacrifice for him. I'm sure this was he PR person's idea.

Remember the first time you picked up a Nintendo controller for the original Super Mario Brothers games? Remember swinging your arms in the air like a moron, as if the movement of the controller was actually going to do something? Now we've been trained ourselves to keep our arms and our wrists still, and move only our fingers. Now it looks like Nintendo is asking us to revert ourselves, not revolt.
It will be interesting to see what comes of this. Surely the Asian markets alone will create the sort of community needed to spur game development and innovation with the thing. And I do appreciate that Nintendo continues to surprise us, whereas Sony and M$ continue to offer the same old, same old. Lest we forget, however, not every suprise is a good thing (remember Virtual Boy?). I'm betting on Nintendo to deliver the same quality, innovative fun that they've been delivering for decades now.

Amen to that. I installed 64 bit FC3 on the computer of some very non-technical friends of mine (a cop and a housewife) months ago and the only problem they've had has been the lack of a Flash player for 64 bit firefox, which in nobody's fault but Macromedia's. My laptop has 64 bit Ubuntu w/ Gnome and the sixteen year old foreign exchange student living with my family that has never seen or used a Linux OS before didn't need any help figuring out how to use it.
I take issue with the argument that Linux isn't mainstream until it's mainstream on the desktop. Just because people don't realize it powers a lot of the servers whose websites they visit doesn't mean it's not mainstream.
per Webster:
mainstream: a prevailing current or direction of activity or influence
Bill: "We've checked weather conditions, have the Skype HQ coordinates programmed in..."
Launch Op: "Seven... Six... Five..."
Bill: "...materials purchased from untracable sources, planted evidence on Zimbabwe..."
Launch Op: "Four... Three... Two...
Bill: "What am I missing?! What is it!"
Launch Op: "One... Zero... Launchi... what the? What is this blue screen?"
Bill: "OH SH**! OH SH**! STEVE WHAT OS DID YOU PUT ON THOSE???"
Steve: "Windows 2003 Server. What, did you want me to use Lin.."
Little Suzy watched the beautiful orange glow from her apartment window in Tacoma. She didn't know where it had come from, but she felt that somehow, everything was right with the world.

No No No it's true! Everyone knows that Walmart employees are the most amazing and smart people on the planet, and the site reporting this price is none other than www.totalvideogames.com which is the 1337 1337 1337 CNN of video game sites! Plus they also know the true spelling of Wallmart with the double ELL! Everybody gets it wrong with just one ELL and if that doesn't mean they're in the know, I don't know what does!
And then on the side there was this basketball game and I made a basket on my first try because my 1337 skills extend to the basketball court and I won a free XBOX 360 so haha, you suckahs! I get mine free!
I must say, that's good insight. Let's hope Microsoft doesn't hear about it.
