I get that nothing in the Public Domain can really belong to a single person, but I do claim a certain amount of ownership over the book because I started it, alone, and worked on it alone for many months before it started picking up outside interest. Recently I've gotten back on board with the book and am working to fix some of the problems that have cropped up in the book, such as those that you mention.

If you don't like Microsoft management or believe in their ability to increase the stock value, WTF are you still holding onto the stock for? I'm sure someone told you that you can sell that stuff and use the money to invest in more profitable stock? If not, consider this your heads-up.

Likewise, why don't Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, etc consider selling and supporting workstations with their distro on them? When I'm in the market for a new laptop or a new desktop, I'd rather go to www.ubuntulinux.com and buy one there that I know will be supported by the OS and everything can come optimized for my hardware... additionally, Ubuntu makes a couple hundred off of me.

Remember the first time you picked up a Nintendo controller for the original Super Mario Brothers games? Remember swinging your arms in the air like a moron, as if the movement of the controller was actually going to do something? Now we've been trained ourselves to keep our arms and our wrists still, and move only our fingers. Now it looks like Nintendo is asking us to revert ourselves, not revolt.
It will be interesting to see what comes of this. Surely the Asian markets alone will create the sort of community needed to spur game development and innovation with the thing. And I do appreciate that Nintendo continues to surprise us, whereas Sony and M$ continue to offer the same old, same old. Lest we forget, however, not every suprise is a good thing (remember Virtual Boy?). I'm betting on Nintendo to deliver the same quality, innovative fun that they've been delivering for decades now.

I installed 64 bit FC3 on the computer of some very non-technical friends of mine (a cop and a housewife) months ago and the only problem they've had has been the lack of a Flash player for 64 bit firefox, which in nobody's fault but Macromedia's. My laptop has 64 bit Ubuntu w/ Gnome and the sixteen year old foreign exchange student living with my family that has never seen or used a Linux OS before didn't need any help figuring out how to use it.
I take issue with the argument that Linux isn't mainstream until it's mainstream on the desktop. Just because people don't realize it powers a lot of the servers whose websites they visit doesn't mean it's not mainstream.

No No No it's true! Everyone knows that Walmart employees are the most amazing and smart people on the planet, and the site reporting this price is none other than www.totalvideogames.com which is the 1337 1337 1337 CNN of video game sites! Plus they also know the true spelling of Wallmart with the double ELL! Everybody gets it wrong with just one ELL and if that doesn't mean they're in the know, I don't know what does!
And then on the side there was this basketball game and I made a basket on my first try because my 1337 skills extend to the basketball court and I won a free XBOX 360 so haha, you suckahs! I get mine free!
I must say, that's good insight. Let's hope Microsoft doesn't hear about it.

I put together a MythTV box for my wife for Christmas. She loves it; it records several shows a day for her while we are off at work. I don't use it, but then again, I've never been a big fan of watching TV; I use the TV for video games.
