Remember, the NSA is the group that originally gave us Tor.
Incorrect. Onion routing was originally created at the U.S. Naval Research Lab as a way to provide independent, real-time, and bi-directional anonymous connections that are resistant to both eavesdropping and traffic analysis. Tor is the 3rd design of said project, which was originally started in 1996.
I have no idea when the NSA started using onion routing, but I know for a fact that they did not create it.
Android needs some sort of remote wipe software to make it even remotely feasible for most businesses. For example, the government requires remote wipe, and some sort of encryption. Until Android has a solution for these two, the VPN-less capability is moot.
a remote kill switch? that wouldnt happen. just imagine how many drones have been shot down so far... iran says one in july then changed their mind. so maybe one in many years of use. so you want to enable a mechanism that would self distruct at a push of a button. okay, so what kind of public outcry would happen if a drone malfunctions and self distructs on a miltary base possibly injuring or killing troops? it would also add to weight and probably decrease the stealth ability.
so no a remote kill switch is not a good idea.
It doesn't really mean all that much. Microsoft will do some kind of wheeling and dealing efforts to 1) lower the fine and 2) establish an even stronger marketshare in the EU such as giving away windows/office/etc to schools, businesses, etc. Sadly, in the end it all works out for redmond.
im a signal guy in the army and im constantly upgrading my skills. having been in the civilian world prior, i know that you must constantly improve or you fall off and are replaced. just like the AF, the 'computer guys' here mostly fill out trouble tickets and maintain computers. they dont do any _real_ work. they all believe that just because they have the mos, they will make all this money on the outside which is completely wrong. it's sad.
did you try searching for a GS job at usajobs.com? I plan on getting a GS job when my enlistment is over. if you have a clearance try clearancejobs.com. hope that helps.
i got my lazy eye fixed for free compliments of your tax dollars. im in the miliary. took a little while to make sure my eye wasnt getting any worse and then they went in for hte surgery. it took 30 mins to correct.
and to think... i waited 22 years for good vision.... now if i could just get down to ft hood to get my vision corrected, again for free.:D
True, but KansasNet has horrible restrictions. I'd much rather enjoy my 9mb/1mb cable connection from cox for a measly $40/month. Fuck all the contracted bullshit of KansasNet.
oh yea, Rock Chalk Jayhawk. KU!
hmm. i filled out their site with my birthdate, or something similar, and according to them, being 22 is too young.
i get this http://www.kfc.com/buffalosnacker/toyoung.asp. It seems grammar is also a problem with KFC webmasters, in additon to basic math.
Me too! Rock Chalk Jayhawk! KU. i live near manhattan and it is HORRIBLE! However, I do like going to aggieville on KU/KSU days sporting my KU apparel. It's so fun. Especially after KU blows them out of the water in basketball. Fortunately, I have yet to get beat down after the game is over and everyone has left the bar.:D
With the new, incompatible architecture, porting existing projects to the 360 will likely take quite a bit more effort.
I understand your concerns, however IBM has opened the source to some Cell libraries. IBM has also a site devoted to the cell processor that includes kernel patches for the cell processor.
We also don't know enough about the security on the 360--it may be that mods will have to be specific to each unit, making said mods more costly and possibly more dangerous (easier to screw up the installation).
We also didn't know about the security of the original xbox, however look how far we were able to get with that.:)
but this device doesn't support the 10/100 ethernet card yet...
The device has 32MB of SDRAM, 8MB of NOR Flash, built-in 10/100 (not yet supported in litte-endian mode), and dual USB 2.0 ports.
so... i guess add another $30 for a USB 10/100 Adapter.
Actually, it depends where you are. Where I am located (a military base served up by Charter (yuck)) comes out and unplugs your line in their little electrical room.
Little do they realize (or do they) that one can easily use a hanger to get into these electrical rooms and plug back in your cable. However, they employ these special fasteners that attach to your coax cable so that you cant just plug back in your cable incase you happen to get into the electrical room.
just wish i could find one of the tools used to release the lock...:P
``I'm somewhat disappointed that a "gaming platform" doesn't appear to be a part of Intel's new platform push. As a gamer & Intel employee, I find it frustrating that AMD products are repeatedly recommended as better for gaming by almost every gaming publication & review site. While gaming isn't as large or as critical a market as the corporate market, it does push the technology envelope for silicon based solutions. Direct X & the GPU market are a prime example. I sincerely hope that we can consider changing our view on gaming as a viable application for our products strategically rather than viewing it as only a means for "bragging rights." ''
Well, I'm sorry that the Extreme Edition isn't enough in the gaming market. However, when it comes to x86 based rendering, Intel still holds the top. Maybe the dual core chips will change this, but from where I'm standing it doesn't look good.
Well, I have three racks of gear. I'll just cover the basic stuff and skip the details.

it is satcom based, therefore ping times will be at least 600ms. it will probably be unusable for both console and pc online gaming.

... that im happy to use linux and not have to worry about malware, spyware, or anything else that totally brings windows to a crawl.

im going to reserve mine as soon as it's possible. $600 is nothing when it means that ill have 5+ years of awesome gameplay with it. rock on sony!
this is awesome. i wish someone would do something like that around here.
hurray for 9mb/1mb cable service from cox communications. hurray for the $40/month bill.
I wonder now that it's OSS, now it can be thrown into the kernel and possibly be mounted like any other fs? Is this possible? Thanks.

My cable service just announced a 30 mbit/sec premium service, and has hinted at 50 mbit/sec.
:| I really need to move.
/me kicks the military.
/me submits 4187 to be moved to 'high speed area' (ft lewis)
Fuck! I'm stuck with the Premium service of 5mb/s.

Just some information.
I've always preferred Chimera/Camino over any other browser in OSX. It's fast, friendly and it just works. Keep up the good work.
It's still easier and cheaper to pirate it than to shell out cash for something that can be obtained for free.
