1) When a distinguished but elderly scientist states that something is possible, he is almost certainly right. Corollary: When he states that something is impossible, he is very probably wrong.
2) The only way to discover the limits of the possible is to venture beyond them into the impossible.
3) Any significantly advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

My understanding is that the code runs on the 1.0 version due to a hole that was patched by Sony in the network update. Meanwhile, the PSP still isn't released here.
2) If frequencies you can't hear don't make any difference, then why are DVD's recorded with a 96kHz sampling rate?
You do realise that the sampling frequency is totally unrelated to the frequency of the sound waves. A 96kHz sampling rate means that the sound wave is measured 96k times per second.
Depends where you are... my phone is $0.05 (AUD) per txt to the same network and $0.2 (AUD) to other networks. Whereas its a $0.20 flagfall and then around $0.3 (depends how much you recharge at once, tis prepaid) per 30 seconds.
Its people who do shit like that when they're driving that piss me off, music is fine... but anything more than that makes you a danger to everyone else on the road.
You know those people who take way more time than they need too to get going at the traffic lights? That's you arsehole
I disagree... The universal opinion about Apple here doesn't tend either way, there are the mac fanboys and the rabid mac haters. It seems to be about half and half either way. Of course, there is no grey area, so you are right there:)
With ADSL being the only readily available broadband technology in Australia, this is a welcome upgrade. I've been rubbing at the edges of my 1500 account for ages, so in the least, I'm happy:)
Yeah man, because we all know that Genesis is meant to be taken literally.
If you want to make a statement about entropy, please refrain from making bible references in the same post. That way you don't look like an ignorant bible basher
Is there really such a thing? As far as I remember, (having recently finished high school), all of our IT people were either fat old men or fitness freak geeks.;-)
Whoops, forgot the tags. Here's a nice version =)

So the marketing department can use a bigger number?

Actually, I do tag all my music before adding it to my library. With http://www.musicbrainz.org/

More importantly, do we even have a release date for Katamari Damacy yet? Not to mention the sequel.
-1, Whoosh!
And yet, its looking like the original will never come out in Australia. le sigh
I believe most portable mp3 players decode files with hardware rather than software due to efficiency and power issues?
Correct in Finland anyway...t m

I already see ads for loans and credit cards on the atm screens at my bank while waiting for a transaction to go through.
Just randomly, don't you think that /. is the last place you need to pimp Firefox?

Yep, its the same here in Australia. *sigh*

You see, therein lies the problem. :)
Yeah, and that's why the moment I finish my degrees (Science+Engineering), I'm leaving Australia as soon as possible.
That's all well and good, but when are those of us in the land down under going to be able to legally purchase music online?
