My point is interest groups whether small and inconscential get all their members to send out letters. Most voters don't send out letters and if they get enough it may persuade them that their job will be at stake. Regardless I think it is worth the time you spent to reply to my message to send a letter to your congress(wo)man.

If they get enough letters it may convince them. Not sending a letter lets them you know you don't care, sending lets them no that if they do vote for it, they will anger their constituents.

Actually for quite some time now IBM has been shifting from a hardware company to a service and support provider. This shift changes the needs of the company and makes some jobs obsolete. I strongly disagree. A distribution is different than a specific software program too. It is possible to configure any linux distribution for a variety of different uses depending on what software goes on it. Besides many of the applications for home and office are the same. Web browser and an office suite are something nearly universal on computers. If you have different needs you can apt-get what you want. Ease of use and reliability should be universal. Whether Ubuntu will fill these rules is yet to be seen, but the goals aren't going to sink them.

I don't have a digital scanner and the Feds have made illegal to manufacture one for civilian use that allows you to recieve cell phone ranges and the mirrored ranges so legally you can't unless you have one from several years back. I'd be more worried about my social security number and all my information getting stolen than someone listening to my conversation. With enought time and motivation anything is possible right, well maybe not anything, but listening to random cell conversations I'm sure could be.

With a proper digital scanner anyone can listen to anyone's cell conversation within range. Unless your talking with your lawyer, in which case it is protected from court. Anyways don't talk over insecure communications as if they were secure. It is like sending something confedential in a plain text email. Don't do it.
