The list seems short. Of the top of my head, I can think of Feather Linux, Puppy Linux (mentioned), and Damn Small Linux. Those can boot off of the USB thumb drive, now I carry my whole OS with me, not just a browser.
I, being an American and told by various marketing companies that I need their stuff, want some stuff of my own. I have a computer. It is a nice computer. I would like a Mac Mini, but I work in the tech industry, so I can't afford one. So all I have to do is go to the website in my sig, apply for a Discover card that I'll never use and if 10 other people find something on that list interesting, then I get a free mac mini. Works for me.
When you dig down into the story a little more you can find the truth: Some geek at MIT used "so, you ever hear of linux?" as a pick-up line on super model Giselle.... which translates into a/. headline of MIT Urges Brazilian Government to Use Linux.
Every year the local news team takes their tax returns to different places (H&R Block, not just Joe's Taxes and bait) and has some expert double-check them. They always find mistakes... why would we think software would be any better?
If you go to www.irs.gov they list a bunch of online services for free. Two of them being Turbo Tax and H&R Block. Actually, it's free to file Federal, and state was $24.95 to file.
The average MMORPG gamer (addicted or not) spends 20-25 hours per week just playing MMORPGs, and an additional 10-15 hours per week in other Internet use.
I think it's fine to have a bazillion Linux venders. BUT some of the underlying code that makes up Linux needs to be standardized so software venders can write applications for Linux, and not Suse Linux, and RedHat Linux, and etc. They can still have they're colors and their own GUI admin wizards, but make the OS the same. Instead of.rpm,.deb, apt-get, emerge, and *cringe* make, pick one, or at least support all of them. Gnome and KDE should do the same. They can have their own looks and feels, but make something standard, GTK or whatever the community decides is the best for the job.
A very simple way is to buy a ps/2 magnetic card reader and up your favorite text editor. Swipe a card and all the info appears. In my state the driver's license has a strip too with lots of information on it.
My fav is when I was in court and the dumbass next to me had left his cell phone on. The Judge threw him out of the court room and he got a did not appear against his case.

Why is the google Bible copyright protected? Who's collecting the royalties on this one, James, Matthew, John? So many different authors.

If they can make 512MB (and larger) usb thumb drives without a 1" hard drive, why not use the same technology to make a 3GB flash drive cell phone?

Why does he get praise, and I get flames for wanting a free mac? (see sig)
A blog is an online journal. A journalist is "one who keeps/writes a journal".
Then by your definition a 15 year old girl's writings about how cute the boy is sitting infront of her in science class is journalism?
