Nevermind there were already people living in Palestine before people were moved in and renamed it Israel. That's what the big fuss is about... that and religious intolerance all the way around.
I don't mind lower hardware specs or a smooshed keybaord. However, Before I plunk down my cash I want at least a 1280x768 resolution screen. 1024x600 is smaller than the old beater I'm using now.
If it's not about the back story (which it should be), they need to cast Bruce Campbell as the player and camp up the whole thing like the Evil Dead series.
A couple buddies of mine have a gaming system they came up with over the years. They call it "Infinite Spheres". It used to be a massive binder but has since been reduced to a nice database plus front end. It encompasses all the best features of all the gaming systems they've used for the last 30 years and is open ended. You can play any race you can reasonably spec out from classic D&D races to a guy from Dark City or a Cenobyte from Hellraiser. If a race isn't already in the DB, all you need to do is enter it and someone else can play it later. It's all between the players and the GM as to what will be allowed. They work with magic as well as technology.
D&D seems awfully restrictive after using this system. It's the best system I've played yet.
My experience with Linux is that I spend more time tweaking the system than using the system.
The only options seem to be use wine (which is a crapshoot you spend too much time tweaking) or play games that a made for Linux that look more like tech demos than games.
When one can install steam or gametap, download everything and play it with minimal tweaking (less than 5 minutes per game) then the market will pick up for Linux gaming.
I want Linux gaming to work well, it just doesn't yet so I use windows.
Ok... now I'm just waiting for the version that runs without intervention on my part. I've always wanted a sim that runs like an ant farm that I can just look into and mess with.
I, and quite a few other people left Cingular prior to the AT&T merger due to very hostile work environments. Nobody was ever officially singled out in our department, but people that fell out of favor were systematically driven out by a small clique of senior managers. Anyone that might compete with them or make them look bad was driven away. They prefer cheap L-1b labor to actual employees. They want a serfdom they can churn at will and dispense with at the wave of a hand. Nobody was allowed to telecommute except the most senior people. My personal boss was in a a whole other state telecommuting from a place where there wasn't even an office. I wonder what happened to them.
I came in to say the same thing. I wasn't even close to interested in eBooks until Baen got me hooked with the free (and DRM free) files. The non free files are reasonably priced and DRM free as well. Baen is the standard bearer for what eBook offerings should be.
Good point... I just checked my account.

I just couldn't get back into things.
I dreaded being pinged by other people.
All my friends were at 70 and I'm stuck at 60 because I could only play one or two hours a week and can never sit for an hour straight without having to take a break to do something with my wife or kids.
The very last time I logged in I was in Shattrath and I couldn't even remember where the flight master was so I reconciled that I really didn't like the game any more and canceled the account once I needed the money for something else.
Who are these people. Everyone I know is quitting the game. Even I haven't played since this summer. I just don't have the time to devote to something like this and still lead a meaningful life.
boy, you read a lot into the little bit I said. I don't play against him, we play things in co-op mostly. I'm not really competitive so I don't play to win.
The point was that each of us have fun in different ways. Sometimes it's better for the relationship to not play together. When we do things together we do things that both of us enjoy, like Legos or stuff outside.
I've tried to game with my son, I really have. My play style... play through things with careful consideration of my next move. His play style... run around like a madman shooting everything and pushing every button you see without giving it any thought.
Neither of us really enjoys gaming with the other. I play like a grownup and he plays like a kid. We both end up frustrating each other.
I might consider going back when I can make significant progress between 60 and 70 when I only have two to four hours a week to play. (never consecutively) I pretty much quit the game when all my buddies were suddenly at 70 and I had no desire to play in pickup groups. I look at it like any other sport, like golf, basketball, baseball, or whatever. I don't golf 8 hours a day, every day. I don't want to play any game daily just to keep up with the other players. (The best solution to this I've seen so far was the City of Heroes sidekick system.)
I'm waiting for some reviews of Tabula Rasa... hoping it might be worth my time.

"Everything is pretty much run by [engineering]"
This is different from Microsoft how?
My experience there as an SDET showed me that development runs the show at Microsoft.
Why else would Steve Ballmer run around like a crazy man chanting "DEVELOPERS! DEVELOPERS! DEVELOPERS! DEVELOPERS! DEVELOPERS! DEVELOPERS!"
We're being inundated with penis monsters.
It's a new category: sporn
yay for innovation.

This movie is 20 years too late.
I would have gladly seen it in 1988.
Now, I'll wait for it to come on cable.

Plain and simple.
The things that math describes are already there.
We invent a way to frame the concepts that we discover.
Nothing was nothing before we thought of zero.
We just invented a way to explain it.
The discovery is that it actually makes sense.

If they want to tax they should keep it simple and tax based on the location of the seller, not the buyer.
wow, Slashdot is waaay behind the curve lately.
This story has been discussed o death over the last week elsewhere.

A communications disruption can mean only one thing: invasion.
I thought that was Max Headroom.
It looks like it's time to outsource everything this bill covers to a more secure location.
I'm sure some enterprising person could rip off google and set up shop in the third world to offer secure searching and email.
How do they plan on controlling every space heater and portable A.C. unit?
My garage office space is totally uncoupled from my home's thermostat.
Ok ... now I'm just waiting for the version that runs without intervention on my part.

wow, only one mention of FMD ... That was the first thing I thought of when I read about this.
I'm not going to hold my breath on this one.

Google and M$ are both filled with arrogant, self important pricks.
They are already more alike than different.
