JFK is thought to have been assassinated by people within the government/banking industry for trying to bring back the gold standard iirc, either that or removing the federal reserve. Can't be assed to look it up for sure at the moment, but it was one of those two things.
Seatbelt laws are more so based on two things, and neither is you protecting yourself.
1. You become a projectile in an automobile accident without a seatbelt to restrain you, therefore putting your passengers, and possibly those outside of your vehicle in the case of you flying out, in harm's way
2. You don't have a seatbelt on, someone hits you, and you get hurt very badly/die. That person is now fucked with insurance/manslaughter charges. Good game.
Risk vs Reward. If you choose to fly in that super expensive ship, you're taking the risk of losing it for a greater reward. That is how full loot game works. Items are not as valuable in them as they are in games like WoW where you need to grind for dozens and dozens of hours to get each piece of armor and that epic weapon for your character just to be a viable fighter.
My article at curse-gaming.com for a more indepth analysis of full loot, as well as twitch based combat.
Some people want a more complex dynamic to their gameplay, and open PVP offers that whether they are good at PVP or not. The politics, the overall guild strategy in the form of choosing targets to attack and resources to try and control, all are great aspects of an Open PVP environment. For people who want a deeper kind of PVP, Darkfall will be the game for you.
Darktide's swear or die stuff only applied to the PK guilds and jackasses in Khao.
There is no reason to protect newbies. If you can't hack getting killed by someone better/older than you (in level based games, higher level) than you, then this will weed you out before you invest too much time into the game and figure that out down the road. There's no reason for a safe zone to respawn at, but perhaps a max 5minute NPK timer like Asheron's Call had.
There were NO safe zones on Asheron's Call's darktide server until houses were added with barriers around them, and even then not everyone had access to them and they were relatively worthless for what you are talking about.
PVP Safe zones are wrong, and are only present in games where gear is important like epicz in WoW.
For a better idea on how items/pvp combat should be in an ideal PVP game, check out this article I wrote for my new weekly column at Curse-Gaming.
How am I a troll when Turbine's track record proves my statement correct. Every subsequent patch to Asheron's Call almost always was a detriment when gameplay mechanics where changed or new items were added, especially on the PVP side of things, which they proved beyond a doubt they have no idea what they are doing on when half of Darktide unsubbed their accounts over a stupid mechanic they added in (debuffing opponents armor to make melee/missile damage 1hit kills) resulting in an instant hot fix, among other splendid displays of their prowess.
My favorite still is when Throne of Destiny shipped and they left most of the bitmaps uncompressed for textures, ballooning the client from 40-60MB of memory normally to 300+MB of memory.
I can have a verbal dispute with someone, and punch them in the face, and get a MISDEMEANOR charge, but if I sell a video game to a kid I can get a felony? This is outright fucking ridiculous and everyone who voted in favor of this bill needs to have their rights to procreation and input on any subject revoked for the good of society and the gene pool.
Guild Wars is a glorified diablo, and for the record absolutely sucked ass when I played it. That game was not skill based. Skillbased would be a game like Asheron's Call or Darkfall is going to be, where a player can manually dodge attacks and depending on his skill level can take on 1 or more opponents and come out on top. In Asheron's Call I had no problem fighting 5+on1 (all equal or higher level than me with better gear, and usually better 1v1 fighters), in fact I enjoyed those fights the most.
The French did shit except decimate the British fleet after we had already won so they couldn't run away back to England, nothing more nothing less. And for the record the US did jackshit when it came to winning WW2 in Europe, the Russians were already on the offensive and would have steamrolled Hitler's troops all the way to Spain in a matter of months/years with or without D-Day or a second front being opened.
Anything that keeps welfare money out of the hands of those who refuse to get themselves jobs and require someone to hold their hand through life is a good thing.
Bush Sr was advised not to march to Baghdad even though all the allies wanted to because his military advisers told him this exact same situation would happen if they went to Baghdad to oust Saddam.
So you can't handle someone using words on the internet? If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. Shit talk is a part of competitive gaming, and there's nothing wrong with it.
You cry about how hard it is to use console gamepads to play FPS's, something all of us Halo players have NO problem with doing, I can bounce a nade off the wall and make it explode in someone's face on the other side of the corner in a hallway with a drag throw, also says they can't jump in an FPS without seeing your feet, something all of us who play console FPS's, once again, are able to do with ease.
The right to bear arms was meant as a means for defense from the GOVERNMENT as well as others. Get a clue. The right to bear arms means ALL arms, bar none, but in this day and age I am willing to concede on the topic of NBC weapons, but other than them, the right to bear arms is absolute, no exceptions.
Last I checked every rampage to have occurred so far occurred on, omfg get this, Gun Free Zones. Lets also ignore that numerous students over the years have been thrown out of VT for carrying firearms on campus even though they had CCW permits, which by the way, CCW permit holders are the lowest criminal offense committing demographic in the nation. Lets also ignore the regulation that was shot down 1 year prior to the VT shootings that would have allowed said holders of CCW permits the right to carry their firearms on campus properties, and the Dean of the school was it that said, and I paraphrase, "We all feel much safer now." Guess you feel pretty safe now huh Virginia Tech?
Guns are not evil. Guns do not kill people. People kill people.
The story is the appeal after playing 7 and 8, but 9 and up it was just to play em cause it's the new final fantasy, it's gotta be good!!!!!...right? No, sadly they aren't good after 7 and 8. A lot of people dislike 8, say it was the beginning of the shitty FF's, and to an extent I guess it was, but I loved it as it was my first Final Fantasy I played. I've played the prePS ones, as well as 7-10 + 12, and all I can say is this:
7 and 8 were awesome, 7 by far the best of all the FF games.
9 was semihomosexual, but a decent play.
10 was lolawful, where the fuck is my worldmap?
11 was some shitty asian grindfest, never played it but that's more than enough for me to know about it to hate it.
12 was like watching a game play itself after the first couple hours once you get your first gambits. I didn't even press any buttons in second half of the game except to switch a gambit every once in a while and to get through dialog. It's a game where you'll get 60 hours in and realize, wow, I didn't even fucking play up till now and this story sucks, why am I playing?
Right now I can imagine almost all of the streets in vice city or gta3 easily, I had to check my map nonstop in san andreas cause it was too wide open most of the time to get bearings at all on where you were.
Windows belongs to Microsoft. They should have no requirement to make their product easily modified/used by other companies programs.

Said in my post there should be a small NPK timer after death so you can run away from a camping situation, otherwise no safe zones.

You can trust Turbine to gradually rape this game, as it did to Asheron's Call and the abomination known as Asheron's Call 2, as each patch is added.
How about bringing back Farscape? May Allah bring great pain in the afterlife to the assholes behind taking it off the air.

If only they had made a skillbased, instead of item/level/classbased, PVPcentric MMORPG, that would of been truly awesome.
Instead we get stuck with a slight graphics update to Starcraft involving richer textures and particle effects.
Terrorism is a saiyan? No fucking way.

Sadly Asheron's Call was the only thing Turbine did right, and even that was a mistake.
Slidecasting? Mistake.
S2M/Revit cycle? Mistake.
Animation Break? Mistake.
Everything that made AC awesome was a mistake, and everything they intentionally do to the game ruins it more and more.
