The was because Jobs and Wozniak were big Beatles fans and they loved Apple Records for it. They had gone to talk to Apple Records if they would let them use their name for their computer company and they explicity stated they Apple computers would not go into the music industry.
Cross-Industry trademarks don't have to negotiate. They only need to negotiate when they cross over into each others market, just like what Apple Computer is doing by entering the iTunes and audio speaker industry.
If the Tiger software was a software made specifically for football usage, then it might have encounter problems with the Tiger-Cats, but till then, Tiger OS and Tiger-Cats won't have any type of conflict.

by high ranking, is that by post count, or user ratings? does only a % of users get this deal per month or does it mean once you're a high ranking forum member, you're a high ranking forum member for life?
BIS is actually scale that psychologists use to measure ones behavior. BIS stands for Behavioral Inhibition System which is often times coupled with BAS which stands for Behavorial Approach System.
High on BIS basically means you focus on the negative surroundings/environment. Take skydiving for example, a person high on BIS would be focusing on what if the parachutes don't deploy, what if I go into shock, etc. etc. Someone high on BAS would be skydiving gives a rush of energy that I can't really experience anywhere else.
I'm not saying high on BIS is bad. In fact, a person can be both high on BIS and high on BAS simultaneously since these 2 scales are not necessarily contradictory. High on BIS are good for situations which need it and knowing how weak computer security can be today, it might be a good thing.
In the interests of creating employment opportunities in the Java programming field, I am passing on these tips from the masters on how to write code that is so difficult to maintain, that the people who come after you will take years to make even the simplest changes. Further, if you follow all these rules religiously, you will even guarantee yourself a lifetime of employment, since no one but you has a hope in hell of maintaining the code. Then again, if you followed all these rules religiously, even you wouldn't be able to maintain the code!
You don't want to overdo this. Your code should not look hopelessly unmaintainable, just be that way. Otherwise it stands the risk of being rewritten or refactored.
i read this article a few years ago and personally found it interesting. as i bolded out, documentation is important even for yourself. it depends on your motive for or for not including good comments for your code. if you're on a team, good comments helps speed up the project. if anyone else will be reading your code and using it, i think it's personally quite important to leave comments especially on what the function does and how to use it.
on the other hand, as this article states, if you really really want to keep your job... then useful comments are totally unnecessary for that'll only help the guy that's coming along to replace you.;p
A better system imo would be to reach grounds both sides would agree to. Like sending out a warning to the hosting company of that range of ips and if the spam doesn't stop within X hours or they don't hear a reply, then they can block it.
or if preferred, they can set a temporary block for X hours on that range, send the email. after the X hours, the block will be lifted. and if they receive any more reports, then the temporary block will change to days, etc.
just a few suggestions on how these systems can be made better.
Is it me or does loading gaim screw up people's buddylist? By screwing up, I'm referring more to the order of the buddies, than actually removing buddies.
I've stayed far far away after using it several times and it always happens.
On the other hand, plugins for tabbed messaging and logging already exist. AOL just likes to "upgrade" whenever such a plugin exist and breaks the plugin. I think many of them have just given up seeing that there's a lack of motiviation recently since none of the aim patches support the latest version.
However, those who purchased Windows XP after March 31, 2003, can trade in their copy for the 64-bit version at a cost of $12 and a voided warranty.
i got my windows xp from my school through the msdn program. i was wondering if this would be available to upgrade to winxp64. i dont want to try right now, but i plan to build a amd64 computer over summer.
any child with even the tiniest bit of smartness will know about ctrl+alt+delete and how to disable software. some might say that parents would not give the access rights for their child to turn it off, but if the parent knew about access rights in the 1st place, they wouldn't have needed the vchip.
remember back in the good old days when the favorite 2 key combo after ctrl+alt+del was alt+tab? before starting any game, i would open a word document (partially filled in, u dont want to get caught with an empty word document). whenever my parents walked in, a quick alt+tab and it'll look like i'm serious at work.
also, how will this vchip detect flash games. many of the internet games nowadays are programmed in flash.
one must wonder what that 500TB consisted of that was transferred. was it the same file over and over again? was it just one gigantic file? was it randomly generated bits? or was it... bittorrent?
Wasn't the reason to switch over to digital was to conserve radio frequencies? If you take a look at the current United States Frequency Allocations - The Radio Spectrum, you'll notice that there's several really big chunks taken up by tv broadcasting. and with the fact that cable companies are required to provide basic cable tv service for a minimal price (~$8/month), which isn't much imo, they can free up those blocks of frequencies for something more useful/important.
Look at CVS integration for example. It comes "free" with Eclipse, and is way better than what JBuilder offers.
i've personally tried a round of window cvs software include WinCvs and TurtoiseCVS and I've gotta say both were incomparable to Eclipse. I don't know why there hasn't been a easier CVS software, or maybe it's because I'm not looking hard enough. That said, even if I'm building software on Visual Studio or another IDE, I would still use Eclipse to refresh the directory and synchronize with the repository.
If anyone knows of any better free CVS software out there, I'm all ears!
i'm trying to read the graphs of benchmark tests they ran, but it's so confusing to understand which line belongs to which flash drive. they use only 3 colors (why? who knows) and alternate the rest with thick/thin and solid/big dots/small dots. just makes it so confusing to really see who is better in that area.
When I came into UC Berkeley 4 years ago, only 5 people a year were allowed to switch to the EECS Major (Electrical Engineering and Computer Science). haha! i would do similar stuff to my setup when i'm feeling cheap and don't really care how my setup looked like. i had a similar setup, but instead of paying 10c for a piece of metal, i was going through my trash and found 2 cassette cases. i taped them on opposite side of the fan and duct tape it to the bottom of my case underneath my hdd, essentially, doing the same thing you did.
i do have to say though, the config you have now either would only work for the hdd on the bottom of the bays or would be wasting a lot of space. i personally like a design many new cases have been incorporting where they have the hdds line up vertically instead of flat. so you can have 4 hdds lined up side by side from left to right. then in front of those hdds there's 2 openings for 2 80mm fans which i've gotta say has cooled my 4 western digital hdds quite a bit.
i personally think because of calculators, our basic mathematical skills have gone downhill. when you need a calculator to do 27-12, you know you're in trouble.
my substraction is the worse of all for some weird reason. i can do multiplication, division, and addition without much problem. of course calculators make it faster. but my substraction has deteriorated to that point where single digit substraction still takes me a couple seconds.

i really think linux should implement a trash/recycle bin like system for rm. right now, my friend has aliased rm to move to/trash/ instead of the default delete. so incases like the above mentioned, what you get isn't a whole bunch of data gone, but just moved to a temporary location which you can empty or really delete later.

How much better and easier was your research when you had access to the internet, than when you had to go to libraries and look through books and microfiche?
wifi hotspots can cover remote areas like deserts, mountains, etc. given that WiFi has such a short range and it's basically impractical to build wifi networks in anywhere besides highly dense areas, it looks like there is a still a use for cell phones.
however, given that certain cities are deploy WiFi hardward throughout the city giving everyone free wireless internet, VOIP WiFi is an excellent idea to start testing there. i personally make 90% of my calls within the city. sometimes i make calls from the middle of nowhere, but that is far and few between.
