I knew this was going to be the case when he let the telecom immunity provision in FISA go through without a vote against or a filibuster. But I look at it like this: I survived eight years of George Bush and managed to come out in a better position than I was in 2000 (although granted, I was in ninth grade then and am in law school now), and I don't see the Obama presidency being any different.
For all the socialist fearmongering and butthurt Republican Tea Party movements, I truly think that we will all be fine come January 20, 2013 (or 2017).

The theory I have heard regarding the birth certificate is that he has it, but isn't going to release it until all the pointless lawsuits dry up.
Basically, his lawyers who are representing him in these suits are getting paid for doing pretty much nothing (as any judge is going to dismiss such a suit as frivolous at best). It's in their interest to keep the birth certificate out of the public eye for as long as possible, so that they make as much money off of this as possible.
My guess is once people stop filing lawsuits about Obama's citizenship, his birth certificate will be made public. So we will not see it until after he leaves office in 2013 or 2017.
I can't believe I actually looked up Rule 34 of the FRCP to see if there actually were sanctions under that. Damn having Civil Procedure this afternoon.
