  1. Cisco on Cisco To Buy Jabber · · Score: 5, Insightful

Cisco already provides phones, PBX, etc. and tools to mix your voicemail and e-mail into one system. Buying an IM company allows them to offer voicemail, e-mail, and IM on one platform. However they could have just used Jabber without buying it, unless they intend to end the open source licensing.

Yes, you can do multiple partitions and keep the PS3 OS (and thusly play PS3 games) as well as a separate Linux partition.

Now I just need to know if I can compile XBMC on the Cell/PPC architecture.

  3. On the PS3 on XBMC 'Atlantis' Beta 1 Released, Now Cross-Platform · · Score: 1

I've been really wanting to get XBMC on my PS3. I have it on my original XBox, but is struggled with HD at times depending on the codec because it lacked memory. The XBox also can't put out 1080p.

I'm wondering if I should attempt to install Linux on my PS3, and then compile XBMC on it. Will I have issues because of the non-x86 architecture?

If I have Linux on my PS3, will it still play PS3 games? I think I need to hit up Wikipedia and start reading.

There are a few FPS games that do a decent job of storytelling. Half Life comes to mind, but even that doesn't have much of a storyline. id did some nice things with datapads in Doom 3 and such to try and tell a story, but id games, and the FPS genre in general is certainly not famous for story.

Using personal email isn't a very good way of hiding supposed illicit activity is my point, nor is the use of personal email proof by itself of illicit activity.

I keep reading from a variety of sources that using personal email means surely she was hiding things from public scrutiny, from possible subpoenas, etc.

Okay, if you see proof of illegal activity in her email, then she was likely hiding it. But the public can't read her work email either. Using personal email does not necessarily prove motive or wrong-doing.

Not only do the GPL bits not belong in the EULA, but the trademark bits don't belong in the EULA either. We're not talking about what end users do, because Mozilla has never stopped end users from doing whatever they want. Mozilla is concerned with distributors repacking Mozilla products with changes they don't like, and misrepresenting their trademark.

They have their license information online. They make it clear to developers how the project can and can not be repackaged while maintaining official branding.

How does any of that relate to the end user?

The answer is to completely remove the nag screen from the end user.

Wow. Google is failing me at the moment, but rest assured it happened. It was what moved the KOTOR 2 release up. LucasArts completely closed shop, and laid off their employees. There was an internal development team doing pre-production on KOTOR 3, among other products that were laid off. The facility closed, and LucasArts reopened internally within ILM.

Many people don't realize that LucasArts went bankrupt and folded, and that the new company is exactly that. ILM is making technology that will help ILM as much as LucasArts, and then finding a means to build a game around that. Look at the physics and dynamic rendering of the the new Indy game they are developing for instance.

LA did realize they flooded the market with crap games (Super BomBad Racing, Clone Wars, Bounty Hunter, Episode 1, etc) so now we're only going to get maybe 1 or 2 Star Wars titles a year.

I prefer the smaller, more polished titles, but I also would prefer to move back to titles like X-Wing.

Aren't we due for a new X-Wing title that features ships from all 6 movies, and the EU? Wouldn't that just sell like mad?
