Rather than taking the necessary steps to prevent most malicious hacking, just blame it on the hackers; say that there's 'no way' to secure against them.

Do you REALLY need a book on how to program EXCEL? Good god, that's pretty pitiful if you think that you need excel to make a program.
WHy not just learn a USEFUL language, like basic or C++?
They are only doing this to suck money out of the pockets of the parents of children. Why not make it FREE and prove that you're actually doing it for a good reason?
Easy-to-crack passwords are probably the cause (at least initially) of most hackings, attacks, etc. Enforcing good, strong passwords doesn't just make sense in the sense of computers; it also makes sense in the business world.
Why do you need the e-mail of every person who's ever contacted you? Why is it better than, say, using a normal database?
BTW this reminds me of this thing i found that lets you use a g-mail account as a virtual hard drive.
The only problem will arise from the fact that people are stupid and lazy. They will look for something at the location it was in Word or whatever and they will not be able to find it. But I think every school district should do that. It makes sense; instead of spending money on proprietary software that will cost a lot of money, spend the money on the teachers, the students, the supplies. But don't put my tax dollars into Bill's pocket by licensing his product just because it's 'the industry standard'. It's not a standard, it's a program and file format.
