> What the article summary fails to mention is that there is still a Firewire 400 port on the Macbook
Except that it's visible, and even pointed out, on the pic that accompanies the article. It looks like a pic that came off of Apple's website showing the ports available
Try it using only things that have changed, and you'll notice the difference. But as soon as you introduce something that hasn't changed, such as reading the contents of a folder, you'll bog it down. It's only natural for Apple to showcase that which has changed for the better.
Didn't we (shareholders/taxpayers/markets) already pay/subsidize for the massive knowledge purchase of 'CD producing' (raw materials into blank CD) in the advent of the CD? There is so much knowledge out there that CD 'album' prices should be dropping, not increasing.
But it's because the market will sustain the high price that the high price remains.
They release something as open source that they are close to the top in. There are some others that do this, but Google just recently released Google Talk(I don't have any numbers on this, can somebody confirm & link it?)
How do we know that the slashdot editors aren't giving them a homepage because those users don't have one? Does the slash code do that? Can the editors do that.
'Course, you could have hit the nail right on the head, too.
Because this will enable stability while that axle is off the ground. Which would you rather be on, stability-wise: 3 axles(2 over some obstacles), or 2(1 over some obstacles)?

I thought that it would be green, with yellow to follow!

I don't forsee cheaper Apple boxes; I see more funds going to Apple's R&D/marketing/profits/etc. Marketing sets the prices and Budget okays them.
> 2. Apple has ALWAYS said it would be done from their lower-end products to their upper-end.
Where was this?
Don't mod this post, mod its child informative.
Ladies and gentlemen, we've now reached the "I'm waiting for Rev. B" stage in the Apple Product Cycle.

> How come there are no details on the exploit?
Because that'd just serve as a how-to for script kiddies. That's something we don't want to see happen.

>(never had ActiveX, root privileges require a password for each activation, ports kept shut by default)
Actually, that's not quite true. Root priviliges can propogate for a few minutes (in the same application, at least).
Did the /. editor(Zonk) not notice that the first link he posted is the same one as the last?
Actually, it's the fifth
It could. Just imagine that it's on AIM: LOLOLOLolOlolOLOl!!!!!11!1!!!1
The MacBook Pro's got 1.05 performance/Watt, while the old G4 had 0.27 Performance/Watt.
That gives the following 4 albums:

Well, this is just one reason.
That's a lot of pr0n!
No, it'd be sharing it, since they don't have the actual music.
But wouldn't that make you an accessory to the crime?
Don't know whether or not I'm right, but...

> "I could list 50"
Hrmmmm....where else have we heard that? Oh yes, SCO saying that there are numerous copyright infringements.
Very well, if you could list 50, then please do so.
Real programmers have 16 fingers.

Maybe that's because there are just so few who go to the dark side of Windows.
I'll wait until the Tiger Widget comes out.
