How about a grassroots wireless network(i'm thinking nextwork or meshosphere... damn I should be in marketing) that incorporates as much of the world as is possible. From countries that claim to be democracies while selling "our" frequencies for megabucks, golf trips to Scotland, etc, the least we should expect is a bandwidth "tax" on technologies that require saturation of their service area; let's call it Public Access and make sure every kid on earth has, at the very least, basic access. Sounds a little too altruistic to me.
Personally, I'm more in favour of anarchistic frequency piracy, but I'd settle for a scheme that made available frequencies as they best fit your needs at that moment(in fact I might even pay for that.). In a digital world I can't see the benefit of frequency lock-in.... maybe someone smarter than I can explain it to me sometime.
...can't respond now... fighting off multi-dimensional hellions.... I though Batavia was good place to take it easy away from my real job as secret military experiment.
I have similar issues that choke my ubuntu home server up. onboard hypertransport(AMD64) combined with software cpu throttling guarantee a complete system lock(no Alt-SysRq) in a few minutes. I can get further with software cpu throttling disabled, but switching to a terminal is almost certain to cause a complete system lock. Even with the hypertransport disabled ATI binaries cause the system to lockup in a similar fashion. So far the only reliable configuration(it is a home server) has been a generic or x386 kernel with BIOS hypertransport disabled and vanilla vesa or ati X drivers. How many restarts, shitty FAQ pages, and binary driver versions( some that JUST DIDN'T WORK, 8.24 I'm looking at you!) did it take to figure that out? I don't want to think about it and with current setup everything works and I rarely have to. Next board is onboard Intel GFX.
I also seem to be the only person experiencing a bug with the ehci_usb module with cheap mp3 players? disable that module and a lower entity catches it as a flash drive, otherwise it kills my usb bus(all usb devices fail) and I have to alt-sysrq my way outta the situation.
I have concluded that these(and most other) studies are aactually studies in statistical bias. Firstly, how many studies get canned before being published because the conclusions don't conform to the pre-determined outcome the commissionar of the study wishes? Secondly, all sorts of monkeying around with your data can provide you with whatever outcome you paid for.
sorry... I had BT cranked up and I put a skew on the data set my IP address is : 78.64.112.162 just subtract my traffic and everything should be peachy.
note - ip address altered to protect the innocent.
I would really appreciate a fix for the bug in the ATI drivers that is "allowing" my ATI xpress 200 IGP to cause complete system hard locks that can only be treated with a hard reboot. There must be a thousand threads at ubuntuforums.org detailing similar experience with a broad range of ATI products.
First and last ATI product for this Linux user. (Maybe the AMD acquisition will help.
I think that Nvidia has heard the call. I've had mega performance increase with the 9625 driver family, which will roll into my gaming quality in native linux. I look forward to native gaming very soon.
ack, "TreeMark", I'm gonna vomit. They must think I'm a fucking retard. I thought I was part of the niche market but my TreeMark was off the charts so I said fuck it.
If you are planning on local energy generation as your primary source of power I think a low wattage device like this can go a long way to slimming down the consumption profile. I might just look into this technology.
As a new user in the Linux world it took a while to compile the tools listed above, resolve the dependancies(little there was thanks to aptitude), all while remembering to "sudo" all my command-line stuff.
A simple script like this could do alot for Ubuntu's out-of-the-cd functionability.
I look forward to running it on the half-dozen fresh installs I've prescribed as cures for the common M$ product.//The Overlord
Call bullshit all you like. All area transitions and save states are to be socked away to memory. As long as you don't turn off your Xbox, you should be able to play all the way throguh the game without saving.... you should look at that statement from the perspective of less-than-hardcore gaming consumer to realize how ridiculous it sounds.
So everything is fine, unless, I turn off the Xbox360, encounter the next rural power outage while in the midst of my new favorite Xbox360 title, or god forbid..lose interest in a lackluster game and want to play another title.
and then Microsoft wants another $100 for a 20 gig HD? wtf.... If M$ intends to marginalize the sometime gamers they are doing a prime job; Nintendo Revolution sounds better every minute to me, specially if I can download for-pay retro content(FFIII here I come!)

I prefer xvncviewer... Suse 10 must suck.
Seriously though.... no scripted screen caps? That would have saved me hours of work for my Astronomy class this semester.

What? You give me a END COMMUNICATION without a BEGIN? I didn't realize you said anything until I got to the terminal signal...

Two reasons to discount this crap.
You should really try Innis & Gunn. It will run you somewhere near 100 bux for a flat, unfortunately
I always liked mike.

Amen brother!
Fixed my gastro problems(Acid reflux, pre-ulcer conditions) faster than anything. Try making your tea with oolong! superior results!
Is that the one where the hero, Dan Brown or what ever his "intrepid author" name is this time, saves the world>

John Gibson, Fox Newsie,... makes Americans looks stupid to the rest of the world.
lol, that was exactly what I was thinking.
Why give anyone the details? Just sell the exploit to a chinese military developer, or at least the highest bidder in that blackhatted underground.
I spent most of highschool in the closet with the lights off.... shooting holograms. It was the highlight of secondary education. RIP
he seems like a nice bad guy.... .... does anyone else think the site looks they are comparing this guy to justice?
