The book gently eases the into what.NET and Mono are giving a historical background for each. What I found very interesting is the fact the author takes time to explain about.NET in the real world, and ties this to Mono to give the reader a clear idea of how any why Mono was started and what the reader can do to participate in this effort.
Two glaring grammatical mistakes that made me not read the rest of the article. That is ridiculously bad.
I think the blogging community, in general, is more tech savy than the average citizen. Hence, they understand that the difficulties are only temporary and, in the end, will be beneficial for the community.

In the future, the proof of a person's technical skill will be based on their ability to boot linux on random objects. Those who are able to get a bash prompt on a toaster oven will be gods that walk among us, constantly harping on our choice of distribution.
