BBC's award-winning flagship show? The highest-budgeted scifi series the Beeb has ever produced?
Not that that's saying too much, mind. And not that these are positive things - the relaunch has ruined a rich legacy by slathering on a pile of dumbed-down chav crap - but at this point, who in Britain isn't in the 'cult'?
"We're not trying to take what we've done and...try to make a literal translation to the big screen.
Good thing, too. Otherwise you'd stand in line outside the theatre for 2 hours - only to be randomly sent back outside to stand in line some more once you were seated.
... and the movie wouldn't start unless there were 40 people in the seats..
New idea-free zone, level 70 uber-epic mounts, still more interminable high-end raid dungeons, and a new race that looks like they smooshed the trolls and night elves together. Meh. When they do something about the gold farmers I'll consider playing again.
The new race will also possess new innate abilities, including a heal-over-time skill called Blessing of the Naaru, though it won't be overwhelmingly powerful ("it's on par with a renew or regrowth [spell]," explained the producer) but will scale up with your Draenei character's level and be useful enough for reducing downtime (the time required to sit and recover from wounds after battle).
1. There's downtime in World of Warcraft? Since when?
2. What person who'd give a tinker's damn for an upcoming MMO expansion - that will be out a year from now, at that - would need this term defined for them? Who's this article written for, exactly?
When I saw the headline, I at first thought Slashdot's readership had taken up exercise.
Which is rather odd, come to think of it - it's not a subject I've seen brought up much here. In a community this large and diverse you'd expect almost anything to be a topic of discussion at least once. Can it really be true that noone here has any sort of athletic hobbies?
Well, yes, and we don't even have to leave the Star Wars franchise to find them - Knights of the Old Republic 2 was the best RPG ever released for the PC, if it wasn't Neverwinter Nights.
I know, some people are going to mention Torment here - we'll just disagree on that point, shall we?
I tried out the FFXII playable demo - oh, ages ago, now; it was on the bonus disk that came with some other game I've since forgotten completely about. I was genuinely impressed! It was the first Final Fantasy game that didn't make me want to throw a shoe through the TV tube.
It was FFVII that turned me completely off the 'F*cking Tedious' genre of Japanese console RPG's - in fact until that demo I'd never returned to console RPG's - but this seems like a step in the right direction.
She was fired for some other reason - the Solitaire thing is a transparent excuse. Apart from the shining utopias some people here like to pretend they inhabit, most workplaces are run this way: the rules allow anyone to be fireable at any time, and are selectively enforced. The constant fear of losing their jobs is what keeps peons productive.
Casual observation leads me to believe that this is more a 'normal' person's speed..

Is affirming and tolerating the protester's right to make themselves heard more troublesome than becoming cavelier about putting plutonium atop giant explosive devices? It isn't a trivial concern - a total dispersal would have instantly spread 80% the average annual radiation dosage across a 65 mile radius. And cleanup would have run $241 million to $1.3 billion per square mile - and recall what the early estimates for costs of the Iraq War were, at that.
I'll be worried when people stop protesting, any time the government takes risks - even 1 in 350 risks - with its citizens's health. If it serves no other good purpose, this sort of activism reinforces the government's relationship and accountability to its citizens.
Though I am very interested in taking the intermediate course: Finding A Game Group (That Doesn't Suck).
Until then, all my books will just gather dust..
Unless "John Seigenthaler Sr. was the assistant to Attorney General Robert Kennedy in the early 1960's. For a brief time, he was thought to have been directly involved in the Kennedy assassinations of both John, and his brother, Bobby. Nothing was ever proven." seems slanderous to you. Looking at that, I'd think the Wikipedia entry was written specifically to exonerate him of any rumored involvement in the assassinations. Silly me. Anyway, he whined and got the offending entry edited - but he's still got some moaning left to do. So why are we giving him a venue in which to do it?
As an aside to my aside: the reflux still, and concommitant popularity of gin and other neutral spirits among the working classes, likely had a great deal to do with the temperance movements as well. Another example of technology shaping society - or of the aristocrat's fear of the underclass..
Gartner, my child, is the apotheosis of Wrong.
Did something happen to John Dvorak?
And hair. And teeth. And skin tone. And vitals, if you kept at it long enough..
And when we see fearless regenerative howling hyper-muscular mice with giant human brains, then we know our world is lost.
Also, I wonder what Fatmouse thinks of all this? Some mice get all the good mutations...

Except crap. 100% of crap is crap.
... I think they mean 'release'. Like, ever. In this universe.

Oh, and the return of PvP to Southshore! Joy!

Now if only there were a 'jump' button.
So in other words, he's as full of shit as a Thanksgiving turkey? I suspected as much..

Gee, a games console that connects to the 'net and can be used as a stripped-down PC? Brilliant! It worked out so well before, after all.
.. as it turned out, I was just really bored.

Screw you guys, I'm goin' home..
... can we see the other finalists as well, please? Strictly as a matter of ... technical interest, of course.
... because of sports. Hooray.

As an aside, though - who wasn't involved in the Kennedy assassination?
More about this angle from Japan Today, and another story suggesting beer has the same health benefits as red wine.
