Being a non-U.S. citizen, I've heard this joke a couple of times now. What I wonder is: Is your voting system really that flawed, that dead people can be registered as voters? Or is it just an old joke?
I'm curious, really. Is this a problem in other countries as well?
I have seen the Honda ASIMO videos. I have actually seen the robot LIVE on Robocup in Japan. Our humanoid booth was next to the stage where all humanoids performed.
I have NEVER seen that robot walk like a human. I have NEVER seen that robot do anything that resembles running.
Is there yet any robot that can actually walk? By walking, I mean walk like a human, where each step is slight fall forward, and not walk like current robots, where balance is kept at all times.
If such a robot exists, can someone please post a link?
Having seen the animation and followed the links, I wonder:
What were the creators smoking and how can I get some of that? They make a lot of arguments for net neutrality and then they say it is bad. And many of the arguments aren't even coherent. They don't even seem to understand what the issue is about. Net neutrality making the Internet communication cluttered? WTF?
I do think he will still have a long way to go to shed the more tarnished aspects of his reputation
Problem is, he has a good reputation. I know it's hard to believe, but among those whose opinions mean anything -- i. e. executives, board members, etc. -- his karma is definitely positive. In Sweden, he received an honour doctorate degree (link in Swedish) for his "valuable contributions for IT". I (and everybody else here) know it means nothing, but those who really ought to know, don't.
Small-size league: All units (four, if I remember correctly) are controlled by a separate server through radio. The units don't have any sensors; the server looks at the field through a camera located right above the field. Each unit is identified with a unique colour pattern on its "roof". This is by far the fastest and most action-packed league.
Medium-size league: There isn't any server. All units are completely autonomous. Not sure about communication, but our units didn't have any in-team communication. For "seeing" our units had a camera looking up into a cone-shaped mirror, giving a 360-view of the field (standard nowadays), ultra-sound sonar mounted on the front, and a surrounding belt of IR sensors.
the western world is wiping their asses with the rainforrests
Do you have anything to support this claim? At least in Europe, all (or nearly all) TP is made from recycled paper. Stiff paper is long-fibered, soft paper is short-fibered; fresh paper mass is long-fibered, recycled paper mass is short-fibered. It just makes economic sense.
That was in the Netherlands. And yes, he was called an idiot for a while afterwards.
Folkpartiet (the Liberal Party) wants to have a mandatory Swedish test for all who want to become Swedish citizens. (Correct me if I'm wrong.)

The teacher missing an arm played by Michael Ironside says it during class.
Did Heinlein actually write that? I only remember the quote from the movie.
</nitpick>

Now, please don't have a cow.
Big eyes, big head, small body, clumsy movement. He's a chibi.
Mac: I'm a Mac and I roolz!!!
PC: I'm a peezee and I'm teh suxors!
*PC explodes*
We already have those problems. It's called "3G".
Seriously though, I'm waiting for PM, polarisation modulation. Unlimited bandwidth, yay!
But since this is more or less about media transfer, shouldn't it be a mediocracy? (Sorry, I just like playing with words :)
I was thinking Dirty Harry.
Seriously though, this sounds to me the same reason parking lots light up when someone enters them, reminding people the could be watched.
Don't think so, since it is not possible for you to use the font, not more than you could use a font sent to you on a paper copy.
WTF?

Is that radiation emitted from Earth?
If the card is stolen, I guess it could be blocked, just like every credit card.
At least, it only has to be done once. Not once for every service.

Some additions/corrections:
Funny thing is, history has you covered on this one. (But I guess you may already be aware of that.)
Well, someone spoke about inuendo. "The Holy Wood" fits the theme.
They don't. Developers involved keep very quiet. That's what makes industrial espionage so effective.
If you think that now, just wait until they release NanoGatorade!

And to add injury to insult, that page just became slashdotted...
