From the article:
"Best Buy allegedly signed Odom up an MSN account with the credit card Odom used to pay for the computer. After a six-month free trial ended, Microsoft began charging him for the account, the suit charged."
So the guy buys a laptop and is offered 6 months free MSN service in which he has to use his credit card so they have a credit card on file. Why is this any different from NetFlix getting your card info in order to use their free trial?
These people are all pissed because they were too stupid to cancel their service at the end of the 6 month free period and their credit cards were billed.
If you are going to hand over your credit card for 6 months of free Internet services, Aren't you going to read the terms and conditions!?!?
I haven't seen anyone yet comment on the touch screen display. Considering almost all functions are done using the touch screen (using your finger and not a stylus), I would certainly like to see the displays condition after about a years worth of use.
I'm a PC support analyst with 15+ years experience with M$ operating systems. Earlier this year I installed Vista to keep up with new technology on my wife's PC (yeah, I made her the guinea pig) and asked her just now if she has ever had any lockups, errors, etc. from Vista. She said she had not had ONE error or lockup since installation and has been increasingly impressed with Vista since installation.
Please note, I'm not an M$ fanboy, I have a few years of *nix experience and just really do not like it. To each his own I guess?
At a recent Web conference a guy name Steve told me the best web server to use was IIS from some company called Micro something or other. He was grasping his chair very intimidatingly, so I took his word for it. He also managed to talk me into buying a corporate license for some product called Office something or other. He was a great salesman I must say, since I don't even work for a company!
Not sure if this would be a good idea or if it is just wishful thinking, but if you move to a new home you can have your postal mail forwarded to your new address and have the sender notified of the address change. Wouldn't this be a good idea if this was mandatory for ISP's to do this for email accounts as well, for like maybe 15-30 days? I'm not saying they should have to forward the original email + attachments to your new address, but if they auto-response to the sender that your address has changed and copy you on it as well that would be sufficient. Or maybe I'm just retarded...
I can't tell you how many times I've heard about a burglar suing the homeowner because he hurt himself in the process of robbing the home and won the lawsuit.
It should be "Yippee! Slashdot Editors Find Yet Another Excuse to Bash Lame Bush Administration"...from the 'because-it's-too-fucking-easy' department.
With MySpace you can have a password such as "Password123*&%". To login, you only need to use "Password123". Obviously their system does not recognize the extended characters at the end?
