True, but don't be surprised if the N900 and Maemo take off, and Nokia drops Symbian by 2012. One of the reasons suspected for Nokia keeping quiet about he N900 and Maemo is to secure their top spot with Symbian until they're ready to launch a full line-up of Linux phones. For now it's only the more in-the-know guys that are going to pick up this killer phone, and I'm going to be one of them within a month or two.
The newest iteration, Eeebuntu 2.0 works out of the box, and you only need to run a configuration application(to cater the different models of the EeePC, 700/900/100) once, and then it's all fine.
I'm running Eeebuntu 2.0 Standard after trying XandrOS, Ubuntu, Ubuntu Eee, OS X and Eeebuntu 1.0.
I haven't seen a game demo from a big name game developer in AGES. Why? They are fully aware of people "trying" the games in other ways, and save money by: a) not making the demo b)not paying for bandwidth for uploading the demo to thousands of gamers. I also suspect they're afraid people might realize how crappy their game is without tricking money from them, and that kind of breaks the business model. Mind you, demos DO exist on the console side, but that is a slightly different issue.
This has been an unwritten(or maybe even a written) rule in Finland for drivers licenses, passports, ID card etc. Or maybe it's just that they don't want anyone to mistake Finland with some happy smiling nation.
Statutory damages are used as a means of scaring people/companies into behaving and actually do stuff with some level of thought. If you know that a possible lawsuit from someone who's gotten hurt by using your badly designed product might cost you millions, you'll think again before putting that product on the market without proper warning labels.
Example: McDonalds with their "WARNING:Hot Contents" label on their coffee cup.
Some cases, mostly cases of human injury, the "pain and agony" damages are not someting I'd say is easy to calculate, but they are still part of the "actual damages". Then on top of the actual damages, the offending party will often have to pay statutory damages, which are often multiple times the value of the actual damages.
And this is why the American judicial system can be so easily manipulated:
1)Hurt yourself
2)Claim your specific injury was not warned about in the documentation of the product
3)??
4)Profit
As you can see, this method is because of it's simplicity, used by both corporate America and the American populace.
In Finland they had(have?) for sale Salmiak-marinated steaks for the BBQ-season. And while it was delicious(you'd have to like salmiak first), you couldn't eat more then two. It was just so salty to the taste. I'm not going to judge salmiak-tasting squid just yet, though.
(I usually eat 3-4 steaks of that size when we have a barbeque-party)
Speaking of which, I'd want a Marvin-esque robot in my car instead of some over-happy annoying.... thing. THAT would cheer me up, since I'd know that at least someone else is even more depressed. Or then it'd just end with us both(Marvin and I) falling down a steep canyon in a giant ball of fire. Dunno which is scenary is more likely though.
I have a KeyTronic basic keyboard from 2001. What I do I unscrew the 4 screws that hold it together from the bottom. Then I wash just the plastic parts, the top, the keys(which I remove one by one) and the bottom. I leave the electronics untouched, or just wipe the rubber cover with a damp cloth. Works 100% of the time, with minimum downtime(no airdrying for a week, the plastics are all dry in one hour).
The funny thing is, I think I remember that Nintendo explicitly states in the manual that you should take a break every 45 minutes, and to wipe your hands if you get sweaty. Can anyone confirm this? If this holds true, I think 99% of the claims will be moot.
But the funny thing with this(ok, schoolshooting rarely have "funny things" to consider, but just tag along) is that the shooter himself stated that he was doing it because the only thing his school ever taught him, was to hate. He was mad at the school and it's administration because they didn't do anything about the fact that he was bullied for years. "Someone with no friends" indeed.
Too bad they will only start making money on the 6th or 7th game they sell(NEW) to the customer.
I can almost understand why Sony wanted to kill the aftermarket for used games. I said almost.
Then I'm your opposite. I LOVE finding out which components fit my need the best, and how I have to pair things together.
It's a geek's treasurehunt!
Spending some quality hours just reading reviews, finding bargains, I love it all.
Now only if I had the money to do it more often...
Hmm, something wrong with your box?
I'm at 68mb, with 11 add-ons running.
Haven't been running it since yesterday afternoon, since I shut down my XP computer for the night.
But I have had it on for some 7 or 8 hours now.
And yes, I had some memory problems with 1.5, but nothing drastic enough to bother me.
For example, my professor records his lectures in Organization and Management digitally. Half the
course runs online, and half is lectures. So he offers his lectures online through the same service
that we get the online tasks through. For free. I'd never pay for something I had paid for before,
or something the government paid for me(this applies in my case). Putting it online is not a hassle
worth $1 per download. Our University allows him to do it on his personal(but university) webspace,
with unlimited upload.
Because the N900 launched like... This week? And the iPhone launched over 2 years ago?
Full disclosure: I'm buying the N900 asap, probably next month.

Shhhh!
You might give EA ideas...
And they're not used to new ideas. At least not good ones.
Plonk, YAY! I don't play WoW(life has a tendency to take all my time) but I'm slightly excited about this.

The F-14 WAS a Navy jet, it was decommissioned in 2006. The F-18 Hornet is IIRC the only Navy-centered jet the US has ATM.

So you only have to make up a name when you register for some site, say random@slaskpost.se and then
just go to the slaskpost website, fill in the e-mail you made up, fill in the captcha and there you go,
the registering e-mail is right there. Any e-mail received by their servers are kept for 24 hours.
Hell, it's so easy to use, you don't even have to know Swedish!

Sure, go ahead, make him a martyr for the terrorists.
Ever since the "war against terror" has started, it has only created more trouble.
And with them four-finned Dolphins coming around, I think I'll thank for the fish, and join them, soon.
I can see it already: PS4 to use personal nuclear power plant. Export to Iran doubtful.

No 1st post in 6 words?
If only Slashdotters got any sex to begin with...

Am I alone on this one? WAAAAAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I feel like punching a rabbit, for some reason.
