... you might as well try something new. Of course there's little predictability in introducing a brand new concept in gaming or even inventing a whole new genre. But, if a big name publisher is sure to lose money on a sequel, while hoping for some sort of success, then why is it a big deal to try something new. If you aren't gonna cut with the old stuff, then take that same investment and push it into something outrageous. Losses will likely be the same, but its a gamble too. The Sims was such a gamble which from what I understand took alot of pushing just to get it released, and it exploded into a whole phenomenon which got my 50 year old mother into gaming. Honestly, these publishers need to stop thinking like the uptight suits that they are and get into the gamer mentality. We aren't a static resource that can be drilled for money, we are an ever changing, ever evolving gaming client base!
I pre-ordered mine on the hopes that i'd get Oblivion on launch. Even the dudes from bethesda were claiming at E3, TGS, and X05 that it was a launch title. One month before launch, the delay was announced... I have a 360 collecting dust on my desk at home, and a Oblivion pre-order in my wallet. I don't know about MS, but I think they had better get in the habbit of developing first party games of ALL genres if they wish to compete globally in the console wars. Cause the third party developers aren't gonna cut it for them, especially if all they cared about was porting over old gen titles or old series sequels.
Similar situation happened to my coworkers here this morning. Heard that all futureshops / bestbuys were going to have a minimum of 10 units per store today, so at 9:30am my boss went to a future shop near our work, cause he heard that it'll have 60 units in stock. They were sold out, as was the bestbuy right next to it. So the XBox is still a hot item here in Ottawa, cause after he got back, he made his wife call around the city, and it being 2pm right now, she's given up.
If they bundle the original Super Mario Brothers, and Duck Hunt onto the console at launch.. then I'm in man! I haven't shot ducks in duck hunt since I took a shovel to my old NES!

I'm one of those, who fealt it was a wiser investment in buying the XBox360 for $400+, instead of getting a PC with the equivalent sound and graphics power for $1500-$2000+
Gaming is advancing too quickly for me to affordably keep up with them. I've noticed my problem when I had disable every single graphical goodie in Half-Life 2 just so I could play it. Even today, I'd have to spend more cash on a PC than the XBox 360 just so I can turn on all the graphical coolness and max out the resolution for Half-Life 2.
Of course, the console doesn't cover all computing needs, such as internet browsing, word processing, chatting, and email, etc... but with gaming excluded, what would the price tag of a new computer be for me?.. maybe around $300+
I don't have a conclusion on what the better gaming platform is (Console vs. PC), but I can point out which one has a cheaper dollar to quality ratio.:)

Arcades were a big thing in my city 10 years ago. But, one day, we noticed that all the new "Hot" games that were being released cost 2 quarters to play. Many of us would ponder, is it worth paying more for a game that I know nothing about, only to die in less than 5 minutes? It started to spiral down from there. Now there are no arcades at all in my city, and you'll only find a handful of arcade machines at the big movie theatres. Even there the cheapest game cost 6 quarters (the most expensive needing 16 quarters) to play... i wonder why I never see anyone playing the games.
I could care less what quality an arcade machine has over consoles, i don't care how much it cost for the store / movie theatre / arcade to purchase the machine. Keep arcade games at only one quarter per play, people will play often at such a cheap rate, like they did in the past. You would certainly make alot more money that way than off the odd person that likes to spend 4 bucks for 5 minutes of disappointment.
You'd think it would have dawned on all the arcade owners as to why people just stopped coming to their arcades so many years ago.
If the government is concerned about alien signals hacking our precious communications infrastructure... then could they please just release all information they have concerning extra terrestrials. Man, how can the government convince the public that isolating SETI from alien influences is necessary, if they don't come out and admit / prove that aliens exist. We know they're out there, but our society as a whole doesn't.

I had to return my PS2 4 times during the length of my extended warranty. No doubt the same crap will happen with the PS3. Also, way too many games come out each year for either myself or my friends to affordably own them all, so instead we split up the release list amongst ourselves. We each play our own games, then swap them out in a circle until all of us had played all the games. Its been a mutual arrangement since PSone. If this retarded stuff is applied to the next gen console, well then, I personally can name over a dozen people that won't be buying a PS3.

-> Child lives in a type of nursery where trained (Beta) females, headed by an (Alpha) female, would raise all infants until the point of basic language comprehension (Typically 3 years of age). Other responsibilities would include recognizing birth defects, mental and physical retardations. Such children would be removed from the nursery and experimented on so as to identify the causes of these defects, they are later terminated.
-> Children passed the age of 3 are then formed into logical clusters based on specified breeding arrangements from their parents. They are then dormed together so that each cluster will receive a unique program of education designed to bring out the expected results concluding from their eugenic pattern.
-> Education typically involves physical training, lingual understandings and comprehensions, mathematics, sciences, technology, and creativity. (History, Philosophy, and Art doesn't exist anymore. We want our children to be intelligent, but we don't need them to 'Think')

Its likely if an american news agency such as CNN is boasting such positive studies on our ozone layer, then its likely that the situation is far worse than it seems. Katrina wiped out New Orleans, maybe cause of the higher ocean temperatures and increased fresh water content is starting to produce super storms. Hmmm... and we're not even at the peak of hurricane season yet. Assuredly the next storm is gonna be much worse. All because the environment of our little blue planet is far more messed up then they are lieing to the public about.
Similar thing happened to me when I was 10, but it was with a 486 DX-33, and a soundblaster 16. I was told over the phone by my uncle how to do it, and he didn't tell me to shut down the machine first. The soundcard was alright, but something very bad happened to the CMOS battery, cause everytime my machine booted up, I had to manually set all the configurations. That was hard to learn at 10 years old.
My computer hit the end of the road when I got WoW. It barely runs the game, at minimum resolution and all graphical options disabled. When I am around too many other players, I suffer from what has been dubbed as "Video Lag", usually in severe amounts where I have to navigate myself at 1 frame every 3-5 seconds. Now, I know that I could spend $500 on a cheap computer that'll greatly outperform my 3 year old cheap computer. But, the best I could get out of it is possibly a jump in resolution, maybe a couple nice graphical options turned on, and perhaps some leniency on the "Video Lag". If I wanted to play the game at its absolute best, with little to no slow downs, I'm looking at a computer worth $2000+, and if I want to spend money on a machine that plays my games at their best, then thats what I need to spend.
Now, why should I spend so much cash when the $400+ XBox360 will be fully capable of playing this game at its best, why spend $2000+ on a computer capable of doing the same. Of course, computers have far better uses than just for games. But, if I were to subtract my needs for video games in the purchase of a PC, then all I need is one of those cheap ass cubical $300+ PCs to satisfy my internet, music, video, and programming needs. Thats only $700+ spent on all my desires between two products, and I would have the same quality experiences as a single $2000+ PC.
My question is this, are we going to see World of Warcraft ported over to any of the next generation consoles? Cause I unsubscribed to WoW last month, and there's no way i'm coming back unless I get new hardware to run the game. I'd prefer to spend as little as possible, like say, an XBox360.
I think its obvious that alot of WoW players make Alts when they tire of end game content. The problem being, when I leveled up to 60 the first time around, on both factions, I find that I managed to do almost every single quest available to me. This makes the replayability of WoW rather poor in my opinion.
Everytime I see new content under development on your website, most of the time I see new end game raid dungeons. This disappoints me, since everytime I log in on the fly, I have nothing immediate that I can do, instead, I have to plan with my guild to hit one of these dungeons later in the week.
You did have one good add-on where you added that Horde village in the Hinterlands (I don't remember the name), where a good dozen+ missions opened up for levels 40-55+. Now I ask you this, is there plans to develop a boat load of levels 1-59 content? So that if I were to start over 3-4 times, i could potentially have a unique experience everytime. A good way to implement this so that a single character can't go out and do every single quest, is to create a boat load of racially unique quests, so that if I do start over, I can play a whole new experience as a different race. Of course, I know there are class dependant quests, but they are so far and few in between that you don't notice any difference, especially since the rogue quests come to a dead halt at level 20....
I was told during my A+ course that it should be routine for someone to blow away their cookies on a regular basis. Supposedly browsers check to see if any / all your cookies had expired everytime your browser loads up, the more cookies you have, the longer it takes to get your home page to load up. How can a textbook course such as A+, which seems to teach a standard on PC maintenance/repair/efficiency would be wrong about eliminating cookies. They even recommended, that if you could live without them, try and disable cookies. Though today, you can't get too far into a website that relies on such technologies.
