    I see where you're getting. Back then people would have a very limited space to write stuff for the world to see, and that was exactly what they would do. Now there's 10 different ways for each of the millions of users to interact with everyone, and they (well, we) use those means to "blog" immediate messages, then to "tweet" them, or to show the icon that more closely represents our mood. It's a good thing that there's room on the internet for everyone, every taste and different levels of verboseness. I'll keep reading Slashdot for the +5 Funnies.

    well, I happen to bother because I like the distinction between the buyer of a DVD ripping the content to the media of their choice vs. the freeloader grabbing unauthorized copies and aiding in their distribution.

    If I don't bother, then I really should not be seen on slashdot saying that anti-piracy measures are bad because they affect honest buyers more than they affect illegitimate distributors of copyrighted works.

    well, to get to the point one would need to advertise what the point of the meeting is. I shall patent the Meeting Agenda and methods for showing it to people in advance. Method for declining attendance and read the minutes will be a future development.

    sure. go to ebuyer.com . There are plenty of laptop PCs there dangerously close to netbook pricing. The one on offer today is a celeron-based HP with 14" screen for £289.

    Reliability myths aside, a small car is not ideal for a lot of people, but there are many cars of many different sizes and capabilities that get much better mileage than 30. Where I am from, people who need to drive more than 10000 miles per year would choose a diesel engine by default.
