Like most humans, we are only as honest as our options. If you deceive 1,000 people but would never lie to a group of 10 close friends, does that really make you honest?
My father works for Heidelberg (Big printing press company) and does copier repair. When he installs a new copier at a government facility he has to be sure to arrange it so he is done before noon because the managers at the site will usually tell him "Oh it's after lunch, our employees are tired. Come back tomorrow." Everyone is usually playing solitaire or hanging out by the water cooler. You wonder why government projects take so long and usually go over budget..
"Hello slashdot, please provide me the name of this "anonymous coward" who posted about my mother's sex life and his role in it. I feel as if I've been defamed. What's that now? I can't hear you over all that laughter. Well you will be hearing from my lawyer!"
Heh you know, I rarely played it in long enough stretches to get that warning but a few times. I always though maybe I was missing something whenever he called.
Kinda sad, but really guys there is a reason games/consoles have started reminding you to take breaks. I guess it's better then someone getting killed over ninjaing a drop though...
Those craters could be miles deep or just a few feet. The astronauts on the moon had the same misconception, grabbing rope to lower themselves down into craters thinking it was a sharp incline when in fact it was just a gentle slope. Shadows can be very deceptive.
My brother and I were at the local drinking well catching up and we were talking about Bioshock's anti-piracy measures. I thought they were too restrictive and harming the people who actually bought the game, he thought it was perfectly fine and well within reason to include such measures. During our argument I began making up ludicrous DRM schemes like the CD blew up after you installed the game, the game phoning the police to come arrest you if they thought you were pirating the game, etc. I came up with one where you were delivered about half the game. Every 100,000 purchases of the game (or whatever number you would like) the game unlocks another level or new content. We both laughed then stopped and thought about it... we could feasibly see this happening. After quietly reflecting for a moment he turned to me and said "Don't ever tell anyone about this. Ever. It could mean a new era of gaming suckage."
He probably just read a few news articles about it since it pertained to him. Those news articles may have been talking out of their ass, but it's refreshing to see that he at least is trying to keep up with current events.
Well it's hard to say, many electric devices can start fires/malfunction if treated incorrectly. Were they exposed to water? Intense heat? Corrosive chemicals? If the situation for those two batteries was far beyond the norm of use then it's not necessary to replace all the batteries, just to post notice or possibly move the boxes to a better location (Which would be a lot more work then just replacing the batteries I'm sure). I'm not saying they should go recall all of these immediately but I really hope they are looking into it further.
From TFA:
"Outside of these two incidents, there have been no similar incidents involving these batteries," AT&T's spokesman writes via email.
Anyone else read ".... YET" in that sentence. I'm hoping they are doing further testing in whatever conditions these batteries were in that made them explode. TFA did not mention anything but then again it is light reading.
You should have known what you were getting into in the first place. If you didn't then consider this a lesson in "Why DRM is bad" and move on. It's akin to getting pissed at a hot stove when it burns you... wait that's not a car analogy. Never mind.
I play with 10 adults online every other Friday using Fantasy Grounds to play online. Our DM's kids want to play but they are still too young. They help out with adding the dice rolls (There is a function to do it automatically btw) and in a year or two I'm sure they will be playing. DnD will let them use their imagination, help them be more creative, help them read, and help them with math... but yeah, Madden is great. Teaches them about football at least.:)
Whenever a story on the voting machines comes up many people present your argument. I find it fundamentally flawed however as counting by hand is extremely inefficient. Not only is it a slow, labor intensive task but it is also open to human error and other technical issues (hanging chads, etc). There is no real point of denying it, computer voting is coming. Instead of saying "Oh this new system doesn't work in it's current incarnation, we should go back to the other method" we should be asking "The new method we are trying to implement is flawed, how should we change it?"

Must just be the matrix
Don't know. Stop posting as AC and maybe you will have some mod points to use.

:)
I'm not too worried about it. Patent pending.
Is there any other kind?

Are you kidding me? The Bourne Ultimatum and The Simpsons Movie were actually on to something?

Anyone get a picture of the girl in the foam rubber suit? No idea what she was supposed to be but I hope she was 18....

.... you don't get any karma. :(
The build optimized for p4s link is broken. Don't suppose anyone has a mirror?
I wondered the same thing. I'd buy it as long as it was close to $100 and I wouldn't have to worry about rebuying it if I needed to reinstall my OS.
