Well...maybe if you hate RPGs and would pimp out your mom for a FPS with eyecandy and a plot.
Despite us having very different interests in games, I still enjoy his reviews. They're funny and frank, even if I disagree on which are the best genres.
A while back I downloaded a break-out clone that was lots of fun, so I went ahead and bought the full version. An aquaintance mocked me for paying for it when he could have easily found a crack, then proceeded to download and crack the game for himself and never actually play it. He never understood why I was irritated at him. He always thought I was just indignant that I "wasted" $20 and he showed me up. Yeah, it wasn't the most innovative game in the world, but I thought the company definately earned their $20, and I got at least that much entertainment out of it.
We're not talking about stealing bread to feed your family. Games are not a requirement for life. A lot of DRM goes beyond what's reasonable, but it's not like they're just doing it to be dicks. If anything, it's a response to the disregard they've seen.
To be fair...I don't think you had to pay $15 a month to play The Sims. I know the expansion had a lot of data, but after paying $180 a year to play I'll admit to a little frown when buying the expansion.
We can start having tournements when we find enough people with self-esteem issues that like to yell them at each other in the middle of a crowded stadium.
Despite that, I thought it was very brave of her and the others to make sure everyone got out safely. The door was right there, but she went to make sure people knew how to get out. I know that's her responsibility, but the urge to survive isn't easy to fight when the door's right there.
I'd be surprised if the Bells in the USA didn't start making this same argument here soon. After all, they have to compete with cable and satellite. Why would anyone need more choices than that?
I saw the movie first, and loved it. Then I read the books later. I didn't know any better and read past the fourth, but I forgive myself.
After I read the books, I still liked the 1980 movie, but was a little annoyed with it. I know they had a monumental task and the movie captures the soul of the book and the cultural vibes very well, I thought. But it messed up all the essentials! What the water of life actually did, the breeding program, that silly voice-activated weapon, and, worst of all, making Paul out to actually be a god that could summon rain. If only for that last point alone, filming the second and third books and saying they're sequels of the 1980 movie would be almost impossible unless they're completely unfaithful to the books.
No, I didn't read the article, so I don't know what kind of controls they used or the setting or anything like that. And I don't play FPSers so I may be off base here, but I do know that when I'm playing a game with people in the room, I'll try to take something like death or failure in stride, at least the first few times. If I'm by myself and I fail I'll get very frustrated, but when someone's around I'm more likely to be embarrassed or see the funny side of it. Obviously the test subjects knew researchers (read: authority figures) were watching their faces and taking notes. If my boss watched me get beaten in a game, would I throw a fit, or give him an embarrassed smile? And when I give him that smile, I'm sure he'd think I'm having a great time.
Just to be nit-picky, your female character gets pregnant in the Harvest Moon games. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean your husband will suddenly be helpful around the farm, or that you stop working sun-up to sun-down. I wonder if Fable 2 will make you stop adventuring for that time, or risk losing the kid.
That one got away. This one was captured, but died in the process. The image in the link seems to show them trying to pull it up at the surface of the water, not at 1000 meters.
Some European countries are falling, like Germany and Italy, and they have negative growth rates. The United States, however, has a 0.9% growth rate. We're getting bigger, not smaller.
Why are we lead to believe that birth rates are too low? Because in our welfare/social security society, we need more workers than retired people. That's why Europe and Japan are all in a fluster. If less tax money is coming in, governments have to shrink. They don't like that.
FYI: I read somewhere that the left-handers sometimes have problems with the power button on the original DS. Seems it was too easy to turn the system off. This was fixed in the Lite, they say. That's why I've been waiting until the Lite comes out over here to put some pressure on my spouse (a leftie) to looking into getting one.
According to the Q&A session, covered on IGN, etc, Phil Harrison could NOT confirm that a 60G HD would be standard.
Harrison answered that it will undoubtedly be a key component of the system and that developers should program titles assuming that the drive is there, but being that his role is more software-oriented than hardware, he couldn't give a definitive answer as to whether or not it will be in the box. He says that we, and even he, should know for sure at this year's E3. http://ps3.ign.com/articles/697/697725p1.html
One the one hand, the robotic guide will be able to answer questions that the human one might not have been totally schooled on. So people may be able to learn more using this guide. But on the other hand, I think a lot of the draw of a museum guide is that they can instill interest and excitement, and can read the crowd to adapt easily. I don't think the robotic guide would be as good at that as a human would. Hopefully, they're giving patrons a choice when getting a guide.
So AT&T wants to have a tiered internet service so they can compete with television, not just VoIP? I would be rather depressed to hear that I'm not getting the bandwidth I thought signed up for because they would rather I was watching Real Bachelor-Survivor Idol: Zimbabwe.
BTW, I highly doubt the purpose of such a guild is to sit around and talk about how gay they are. I'm sure they focus more on instances and the like. I imagine it's nice to know before hand whether or not a guy's going to be treated like a freak if he comments that his boyfriend is making dinner so it's not a good time to join a raid. And a "mature" guild wouldn't really promise that. This was never about cutting real life out of a game (after all, most of the characters are controlled by real people). It was about people making targets of themselves, and Blizzard having to deal with the constant harrassment that I'm sure has already started.
What I've played so far of the finished version (burn the demo disc) is shockingly good.
Well, that's good news for everyone who felt a bit down after trying the demo (that would be most people from what I've heard). Instead of inspiring desire, it seemed to suck the energy out of the room. Maybe a Potion would have helped us feel better.
Anyone know if Famitsu is plagued by accusations of buying out like other gaming magazines? I loved Wind Waker, but I still wouldn't give it 10/10.
Perhaps after Nintendo takes their cut, the fellows will still have $7.50 with which to buy some buffalo chicken tenders.

I agree with your statement.

I read about this a little while back on BBC, I'm pretty sure. Maybe the submitter used the service for his submission? :)

So...we should only give our children hard liquor? :)

I think you're refering to the wrong giant squid.

I won't be impressed until they've sharpened it on silk, spider threads, and sunlight.
Let's get some facts straight. Here's a site I found: http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0004395.html

Now, I might have seen the problem with your math. Keep in mind that, in 2004, 36% of all babies were born to single women. http://www.webmd.com/content/Article/114/111283.h

I'm so glad I can't read that! :)
Great, now I'll have the NSA at my door, asking me why I haven't called my mother recently and making me feel bad...

For people who always claim to be doing things "for the children," they sure seem quick to use those kids as shields.

No, the English don't like the French, it seems. At least, 72% don't.

Blizzard CEO Brings up Gay Guild Issue Again
