  1. I worked on this. on Robot Composed of "Catoms" Can Assume Any Form · · Score: 1

I worked on this with Seth through Prof. Rudich's Andrew's leap program last summer. Interesting stuff. Sure, what my group and I were working on wasn't exactly nanotechnology (in fact, we were working with balloon-based models over 1m cubed, one of which I still have), but hopefully some of the data that was collected will ultimately help produce catoms on a more useful scale. Weather I'll see catoms in my life is debatable, but it's still an interesting field to explore.

If people are in a similar boat as me, check to see if your state has charter schools (especially Cyber schools!) that you can attend. In PA specifically, there's the PA Cyber Charter School, of which I'm currently a student.

If one could reasonably assert that those who would steal an iPod as opposed to buying one would be running windows, you could have an autorun file on the mass storage device that will check to see if it's your machine that it's connected to. If not, it will begin encrypting almost every important filetype that a user may have, followed by a prompt to the effect of "This is a stolen iPod. You have my iPod, I have all your files. If you ever want to see your data decrypted, I'll trade you the password for the safe return of my iPod. You may reach me at user@domain.com".

You can get a just-a-phone phone at Walmart for $20... It's the Motorola C139 (or something like that) branded as a Cingular "Go Phone". Buy the phone, then go into a Cingular store and sign up for your preferred service plan. Take the free phone that they give you, and then move the SIM into the C139. Give the C139 to whomever wants just a phone, and keep the Free phone for yourself!

Tmobile does similar things too... although it won't work with CDMA carriers like Verizon and Sprint.
