I hit the escape (or cancel) button frequently. It's a nightmare. I was curious to try it, but now I wish there was some way I could switch back.
I am with you.
I would LOVE to hit the escape key frequently, but since I type by touch, and there is absolutely no tactile feedback associated with that fake button, I can't. I never know when or if I have hit the fake key and I have to wait to see the response. It is incredibly annoying. In fact, it's like trying to code on your phone.
Also, while I am ranting, who actually needs a bunch of possibly spelling corrected words popping up on their keyboard while they are typing? Was just underlining the unrecognized word not good enough? Can people really not spell anymore or is it just that the sucky-ass keyboard is making it incredibly difficult to do so?
I don't know what the hell Apple was thinking with that decision. (Courage?) I am OK with metakeys, but they should have the same raised profile and depress feature as regular keys. And they shouldn't continuously change their options while I am typing.
Dubai police are planning on significant attrition due to forced disability after many officers accidentally cut their legs off when flying these new devices, which have no propeller guards.
But then I just stopped using the "incompatible software."
For most of my needs, I found new software that was compatible with the new OS. For the rest, I either replaced it with my own software or just dumped the need. After a few years, I did eventually purchase another windows machine, but it was only to drive hardware that required interfacing with Windows. I rarely boot the Windows machine up now too... Since I have had it MS decided to move all their functions around between Windows 7, 8, and 10... it's just annoying.
Munich should take the same approach. If they keep the crutch (Windows) around, their staff will never be able to fully commit to the new OS. They should completely ditch Windows for 5 years and let the shit hit the fan. Then, after 5 years, then can bring it back in a limited capacity if they really need it.
In all likelyhood, they just need Windows to run some other clunky piece of accounting software written in VB that probably needs to be modernized anyway.
Instead of worrying about the efficiency of something that might be made in 2025, let's worry about how much power these things consume when someone actually builds a fully functional one that is for sale.
Then we will at least have a metric for comparison and competition.
Netflix introduced the unlimited streaming plan at $7.99 in July 2011. (Their current $7.99 plan doesn't stream in HD, so the $9.99 soon to be $10.99 plan corresponds to their original $7.99 plan.)
So bumping it up to $10.99 means it's increased by 1.27x the rate of inflation. Or an average annual increase of 5.5% vs the actual annual CPI inflation rate of 1.4% over the last 6 years.
Right, but how much content have they actually lost access to since 2011?
I would argue quite a bit since they let the Starz and other popular content deals expire.
They have backfilled with less popular content and some of their own making, but as a subscriber, I would argue that their content is less appealing than it was 2011.
Also, they have completely destroyed the usability of their website to accommodate this loss of content. Their "ranking" system doesn't actually show you others' ratings anymore, it shows you what THEY want you to watch. You can't easily sort out the available content by year or popularity. It's really hard to even get to the review section of each show. And while you do all this, there are 4000 animated trailers playing in the background, which attempt to induce a seizure so that you will stop trying to find good content and just watch what they tell you to watch.
It wasn't like they accidentally lost this functionality either. They did it to force their less appealing content on you and try to hide the loss of their more popular content deals.
I still think they provide a valuable service, but it is nowhere near as valuable as it used to be. This is due in part to mismanagement on their part but mostly to the greed of their content suppliers. The end effect to the user is still the same though. Lower quality content for more money, which will indeed drive many back to pirating.
You mean besides being an unlikable candidate, pissing off core democrat voters, rigging their own primary?
Wait, are you talking about Clinton or Trump?!?!
I get a kick out of the comments that Clinton was unlikable and thus not electable. Is she actually more "unlikable" than someone who believes that he can literally grab you by the crotch?
Also, why do you have to LIKE your president? They're not going to be your friend or significant other. You're never going to even see them in person during their tenure. They just need to be effective, not likable, but effective at their job.
I just can't get past it. The single screen in the center of the console.
The whole car looks great. Ergnomic, sleek, sexy. Except for the single 15" monitor that looks like it came straight off my 2005-era desktop and got bolted to the car. It doesn't even remotely blend into the design.
I personally mount my phone in that location when I am driving (in my normal car from 2005) and find it not a great location for a information screen. It works well for me since the phone is used for a secondary function (mapping), but I would not want it to be my primary screen. For some reason, looking down and sideways is much more distracting than just looking down over the steering wheel.
It's unfortunate they couldn't have included a smaller screen with a more conventional car instrument set immediately behind the steering wheel, like most cars have had since instrument dials were invented.
I kind of feel like they're just doing it to be petty. Like Apple removing the escape key from their laptops and the headphone jack from their phones. It saves the company a tiny bit of money, but causes the user a lot more frustration.
THAT is the real question... why in the hell is a military bird flying only 500ft above a residential in what is most assuredly not a combat zone
If you read TFA (I know, I know), you would have seen that they are providing additional security for the United Nations General Assembly. Perhaps they were patroling the coastline.
Also, helicopters are supposed to be above 500 ft and drones below 400 ft, so the drone was 20% above its maximum operating altitude, if you believe the report.
Also, it's pretty hard to miss hearing a Blackhawk approaching you at an altitude of 500 ft. They often fly over my house and are quite loud, especially when flying as a pair, even if they are coming at you. If you were actually operating a drone or other RC aircraft and were not observant enough to to keep track of the TWO super loud helicopters flying by your airspace, then you probably are not qualified to be operating a drone at that altitude.
Maybe the fines should be whatever it costs to re-issue new social security (or social insurance in Canada) numbers to everyone, including costs of managing the transition.
I think it's pretty clear that the US needs to move away from the social security number being both a confidential number and a unique key that is shared to verify your identity. Those two uses are mutually exclusive.
The government either needs to give the individual the ability to authorize specific identity checks though a tokencard or some other means.
Congress doesn't want to do this because big business wants to be able to check your background details for free and at will, but it needs to stop. Unfortunately, the amount of traction that the private citizen has with congress is pretty small compared to big business' lobby.
With Lithium-Ion batteries, they last longer if you don't take them from 100% capacity to 0% capacity all the time. If instead you charge/discharge them from 80% to 40%, they last a lot longer.
I think it's likely that Tesla limits the batteries for lifetime purposes. And that this temporary software change is trading a little battery life, for, well, maybe saving the life of the Tesla car owner by getting him out of dodge?
-
Nope. You can pay more money to have Tesla allow you to pull more energy (per charge) from the same battery.
Tesla only cares about saving your life so that they can continue to get cash from you.
How long until real-life catgirls? Or all women with a C-cup chest size as the minimum?
Or all blondes with blue eyes? I think someone was fixated on that a few decades ago and it didn't turn out very well.
Why does it have to be about gratuitous cosmetic crap? People can already get plastic surgery, they don't need genetic modifications to look good if so inclined.
But what about no sickle cell anemia or cystic fibrosis? What about improving the human genome in a voluntary way without committing genocide?
Dream a little bigger than chest size! Not everyone like C-cups and catgirls, but no one likes to die young.
And given that some people won't even take vaccines, which have been around for at least 200 years (?), I think it's safe to say that there is no danger or the whole population immediately undergoing genetic modifications.
"First, as GP stated above, the Military has to be a very cohesive bunch. In back line situations you have communal showers and bathrooms with little privacy."
Isn't that the same argument that was once used against mix-race units?
This is a great point.
But if segregation based on gender is an antiquated concept, why do we still have male and female bathrooms everywhere in the world, rather than just a single communal bathroom?
Why do we also have doors on bathroom stalls or even bother wearing clothes?
Maybe that is implicit acknowledgement that humanity has come a long way, but it hasn't come that far yet.
No one is making you accept the push notifications. In most cases, the user is explicitly allowing them at each app install. Most users are just horrible sysadmins.
I only get push notifications from my email and calendar and it works for me.
This could explain some conspicuous quality control issues in the materials, if so. There could be a huge lawsuit in the works here.
hUUUUUge.
But not as huge as the lawsuit from say, Boeing and Airbus, right?

Supporting Russia or Russians isn't treason. We are not at war with Russia. In fact, they're our allies.
Treason includes giving aid or comfort the the nation's enemies (foreign or domestic).
Treason involves betraying or attempting to overthrow one's country. It doesn't matter if there is an enemy or ally involved in the process.

$7.99 in July 2011 is equivalent to $8.68 today.

... is to make the Navy ship hulls and engines stronger, so they can just drive though any other boat.
Then they can just pilot around at ramming speed all the time!
it can still be jammed
That's why the USN has started teaching Old School navigation methods again.
Unfortunately, as recent incidents have shown, the lessons aren't going well!

Also, now that the phone can charge wirelessly, it also will not have any ports whatsover.
So you will HAVE to use Apple's bluetooth headphones to talk to anyone or listen to music.
Because courage.
Trump wants to know who is talking about him!
Mayweather won, but it went 10 rounds and was by the referee calling it.

On the other hand Elon is what, a business guy who likes scifi?
Really?
Musk is making a living developing innovative technologies for transportation on multiple platforms.
Zuckerberg is profiting from selling information that YOU type into MySpace 2.0.
Is there really any comparison between the two?
Did I miss a link or does TFA have absolutely no information on how they actually reduce the sonic boom signature?
News for nerds, right? Where is the nerd part?!
Just click no. Problem solved!

and basically would love to get back to that same level of OS functionality without bloat.
(And that statement applies to OS X as well.)
in 10 years. Keep that in mind as you post on it.
What will Zuckerberg do with all that information when he is getting desperate?
