So this is what that Microsoft patent is really for.
    http://yro.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/05/04/22 38213

In all seriousness though, how many people will actually use VOIP to discuss illegal activity. If they know they're being monitored wouldn't they be more likely to use some more secure form of communication? Although, this brings up the question what do people sue to discuss illegal activity NOW if they know that they phones are probably monitored?

I mean, they have the capability to censor text but you don't see them replacing all of the "windows sucks" comments on slashdot with "*****".

Yeah, bistbuy was slashdotted, I can't access it either.

And of course people are holding Google accountable. I'm sure that these are the same people that complain that Google is violating copyright restrictions by linking to them in web searches.

Furthermore, I don't see how Google is profiting from this. Google's ads are based off of the content contained on the page they're displayed on.

Now, if a user is looking for bestbuy.com and misspells it as bistbuy.com, they are probably looking for electronic equipment.
So, unless the site bistbuy.com is an electronics store the ads won't contain anything related to electronics. Thus, the ads won't hold any relevance to the user and therefore they won't click on them.

  4. Gravity of which planet? on NASA's 20-G Centrifuge Machine · · Score: -1, Redundant

That article should read "20 times the terrestrial gravity OF EARTH". The terrestrial gravity of the moon is much different than the terrestrial gravity of Mars or that of Earth.

Also, I've seen something on the discovery channel (or it might have been "Bill Nye the science guy" now that I think about it) that said that astronauts exercise every day to avoid their muscles atrophying due to the lack of use due to the lower gravity in space. The show even had some video clips of astronauts using what was basically a spin cycle but with straps to keep you on the seat.

    - daredevil just didn't have anything to do with FireFox in the first place, it could have been advertising anything if it didn't have the FireFox logo at the end.
I think any two or three people in their high school film class simply screwing around with the camera could have made a better video than these.

Fox fever and this is hot were pretty well done though, congratulations to them.

  6. Re:It's Too Hard!!! on Do Kids Still Program? · · Score: 1

Actually, I find most development tools incredibly easy to use. I'm, a sophomore in high school and programming really isn't very hard if you actually try to learn it.

Society has decided to start dumbing down children with tools such as "kids programming language". Anything that claims to make Atari-quality games easy to make in short periods of time isn't teaching children anything useful. (I did say that programming was easy to learn, but not such that you should be able to make Atari-quality games after less than a month)

Kids programming language was invented due to the stereotype that "programming is hard and kids won't understand it". On the contrary, when the kids actually try to learn real programming languages, such as C, they'll be swamped because they're used to having the machine do all of the real work for them.

The belief that "math/science is too hard for kids and they won't understand it unless we dumb it down" has progressed way to far into our nation's schools. But that's another argument altogether.

Also, as has been previously stated by someone else, no one in their right mind would teach programming in a high school. The C++ course that I am taking is at a local community collage. The only computer courses offered at my school are ones that teach you how to turn on a computer, log in, and use MS word/excel/paint/IE.

This is what I see happening:

    - The companies that sell these devices leave out the part about them forcing you to watch commercials.
    - A huge amount of people buy them.
    - Less than a month later, customers get pissed off at the company and return the devices to wherever they bought them.

After loosing tons of money over this, the companies finally realise that they have to listen to consumers.

Of course, this would only happen in a perfect world. Something is bound to come up that will prevent people from receiving refunds or something of that matter.
