  2. The TL;DR Synopsis on Microsoft: the 'Scroogled' Show Must Go On · · Score: 1

Microsoft is accusing Google of doing the exact same thing it is doing, only they are taking a pause to pimp their own product that does exactly the same evil that Google does.

The only difference is that Bing is absolute crap compared to Google. Of course, they don't want that fact to come out in the wash.... Can I switch to Apple now?

  3. Considering on Cliff Bleszinski: Vote With Your Dollars · · Score: 1

...that this is coming from some game designer I couldn't tell apart from Adam on a blog I never read, I must ask the value of this individual's opinion. He's a game designer? That doesn't make him an expert or the end-all-say-all of the topic.

What I really find hilarious if it wasn't so troubling is the fact he is defending EA. EA has done wrong, but you wouldn't know it based on Cliff Bleszinski's words. Maybe he is ignoring the fact that people are complaining loudly and EA is all but ignoring them. Maybe he wants to forget the fact EA "accidentally" banned members for complaining about microtransactions or the DRM scheme. Maybe he thinks EA is in the right with this "always on" DRM method and people that don't have internet at home (like myself) are SOL. Maybe he thinks it is totally in the right that EA puts microtransactions in games that are not at all Free to Play.

Frankly, I think he is an obscure game designer who has a terminal case of USI and is spewing his vitriol on an obscure blog nobody cares about (except for the poster of this article and Slashdot)...

Also: I'd really love to know where he came up with this "Free to spend 4 grand on it" because that sounds like hyperbole. So, how is spending $4,000 in an EA Microtransaction store any different from spending $4,000 on LotRO or STO? Is it ok because it is EA or is this something Mr. Bleszinski made up to justify EA's poor business practices? I say it is the latter...

in and of itself: Microtransactions aren't bad as long as there is some kind of system in place to prevent those who have $4,000 to spend to gain unfair and insurmountable advantages. EA of course doesn't have such a system in place because money is God. In fact: EA encourages such actions.

Frankly, I think Mr. Bleszinski's idea of "Don't like it, don't buy it" only works if people got that hint and quit being such fanboys of EA. Unfortunately, fanboys like Cliff Bleszinski don't want to openly acknowledge they are being raped by companies like EA. Like a rape victim, they think if they continue to support the rapist, then it will get better. Yet it never does. As long as this cycle continues, then no amount of complaining or boycotting will ever work.

Meanwhile, I am going to sit back and wait to see what comes out before jumping on the Hateraide wagon destined to JJ Abrams's front door. Not to do that is just sheer overreacting and is far from intelligent.

Yes I know some here have raging e-boners against Abrams. Yes, I know about John Carter (voted least pirated movie because even pirates thought the movie wasn't worth it and have some modicum of decency) and how epic suck it was. Yes, I get some are 50 shades of RAGE-Hate over Star Trek's reboot and to them I say "Fuck you" because it got this long time reluctant person interested in the Star Trek franchise. Yes, I get Disney and Abrams could do things to tarnish Star Wars... but Jar Jar and Lucas has set that bar so high it may have to be a concerted effort on Disney and Abrams part to make the movie that bad, and even then it may fall way short.

However, the bottom line is that nobody knows anything concrete about what is going to happen with this movie. Basing it solely on Abrams and/or Disney is not just premature, it is closed minded and certainly not smart.

That is YOUR opinion about JJ Abrams. JJ Abrams has produced some good films IMO and I'm a big Person of Interest watcher. Also: I have never got or understood all the Hater-Aide over his reboot of Star Trek. That JJ Abrams movie sucked me into Star Trek and for a good part of my life I couldn't care less about Star Trek.

The movie sucked? JJ Abrams sucks? That's your opinion and makes it no more fact than my own opinion.

Then lets make it clear about a Portal movie: Anybody see the script yet?

    No?

Then why gripe about it already? Maybe it'll surprise you.... Personally, I'd like to see what comes out before jumping on the JJ Abrams Hate Wagon...

Oh I forgot: JJ Abrams is making it. So it sucks already according to your opinion.

JJ Abrams isn't perfect nor does every movie need him directing it. However, to bellyache and bitch about a movie that isn't even being filmed (and may not even have a script) yet just because a director you don't like is directing it makes zero sense.
