Blizzard did more than cooperate. It gave Roberson everything he needed to track down Hightower, including his IP address, his account information and history, his billing address, and even his online screen name and preferred server.
So I must as two questions:
1) If Blizzard gave him all that information, why would this cop need to run an IP search on him? Especially if Blizzard gave the cop his BILLING ADDRESS..
2) Why are people surprised that the law enforcement can track down criminals via the tubes?
From what I have read on anotther site, this criminal was a Level 80 Shaman. Not an easy feat to pull in a short time. But since this criminal dropped a footnuke and continued to play after going on the lamb, I am not totally surprised of this outcome.
Hope his Shaman can help him defeat the 300 Pound Bubba in the Prison showers!
If this game was made... I wonder how long before he whined and complained that it was "too realistic"?
Here is the problem he fails to grasp: Games are NOT realistic and suppose to bend the rules of reality in order to make the game enjoyable, not realistic...
I find it funny he is a graphic FICTIONAL novelist and is whining and crying about this... can we say "hypocrite"?
WHY ARE YOU HOSTING WITH THIS COMPANY IF THEY ARE ILLEGALLY BREAKING INTO YOUR SERVERS?!!
The second you said that they wanted your root password, my exact thought was "WTF?!!" NO hosting company should EVER ask you this kind of info, contract or not! If they ask for it or say its in your contract, you can say "STFU, NO!" The reason being is that it is YOUR boxes and YOUR data. Hosting only means you are given a key to open the tube's gates. Of which you can go elsewhere and get... Preferably one that isn't going to step on your constitutionally protected rights!
No, but you can grow weed and sell it to your friends. Its the same idea as Farmville/Mafia Wars only it will get you into a heap load of trouble with the law if you get caught.
Cell Phones obsoleting hand held game systems like the DS?
LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL! Iphones are no match to Nintendo's hand helds! Whenever one thing tries to topple it, might as well sing "Another one bites the dust"!
I agree wholeheartedly on what you say. That is the rub of rating an online game: The second you let humans take control, you as a game designer LOSE control. Therefore, unless these "Think of the children!" groups decides to use the Constitution as toilet paper, I cannot see how the ESRB can accurately rate a game.
I agree to your statements. If all this device does is monitor pulse, then really that would tell nothing important or significant to anybody like insurance companies and such.
I don't know where you'd meet a woman in realspace, since I met my wife on-line. But that was 29 years ago, so that old trick probably won't work any more.
Oh it still works... but ya got to be careful - You may end up with psychos now at days.
IMHO I think the RIAA is trying to brush this under the rug. I feel that they are trying to pull all stops out in order to protect their "legal methods" from being exposed to the world.
Oh, yuck. I prefer my toilets to flush the shit out of my house not into it.
We have that problem here in the US. We call that "Politicians on TV"
Why do I get the feeling this will not end well for Sony or EA?
Steer clear of 4chan my young Padawan. Turn you to the Dark Side of the Force it will.
We don't have intelligent life here, how are we suppose to find it out there?
I guess just listen to them laugh at us?
I think the phrase "Trying too hard" comes to mind. Now if only he could apply math to figure out why women do what they do...
Oh dear sweet merciful Xenu... Does this mean Sony is going to be in a rush to make this and make a craptastic movie? That is what I see coming...
Amen to that!
I really think it is a race between them and Jesus to see who come back first!
There is only one God mode and it is IDDQD.
I thought it was DNCORNHOLIO?

I say feed him to 4Chan... Plenty of laughs will be had (to him) till he gets sent to a nice warm place!

I read this and thought: "BREAK OUT THE TINFOIL HATS!!"
C'mon... I am for paranoia and all, but this is ridiculous!

This is Sony's new PR tactic to increase sales of the PS3:
1) Release Patch
2) Brick PS3s
3) Make people pay for repairs or new PS3s
4) ????
5) Profit
So no matter how you look at it, PS3s will always be $599USD!
WHY won't Jack die?!!! He hates games, but respawns every month to attack with LOLsuits...
Even Facebook hates you Jack!

I think that this site would work perfectly!
I have the answer - 7 years after the 12th of Never
