    I could not have said it better. It's a sad state of affairs.
    As my subject says, your not considered cool if your a kid and into science especially chemistry. But the whole town will reward you if your a star quarterback.
    I remember once a while back their was a 20/20 episode it was about "The American Family" and the interviewer asked a 14 year old boy "What is your greatest fear growing up?"
    the kid said "Becoming a Geek" --- where you read Geek - read "smart"

    I have a 2G phone - it makes calls.. Im happy.
    I have no Ipod, Ipad or any Icrap. Don't need it
    I have no game consoles, Xbox Nintendo or Sony crap - Boycotted!
    I have no Blue Ray Player - Never Ever
    I have an old DVD player - don't use that much anymore.
    I have only 40 CD's which I don't listen to. Got a few non-DRM mp3's
    I have no DRM'ed E-Reader. NOT EVER
    I Run Linux!

    It's in the way thees corporations treat the "infringers" after the fact. That pisses me off more than anything.
    $1,000 per song - Bullshit
    Thousands $$$ in dragged out litigation - Bullshit
    Seizing property and entering homes - Big Bullshit
    Bullying and threatening the very people that buy their warez - Bullshit
    Getting the federal government to do their dirty work - Bullshit

    Is everyone blind?
    So for that reason more than any I don't feel sorry for thees corps whatsoever.

    I keep making this comparison, but I must again.
    If I catch a guy breaking my car windows, I can't expect to win a case where I sue for %1000 the price of the windows. And the government won't come to my aid. It just don't work for us "citizens". But The Big Corporation can. And I am sorry if you don't agree, but downloading or streaming a movie or song once and a while IS JUST NOT THAT BIG OF A DEAL. PERIOD.
    (I'ts just a bunch of ones and zeros anyway! ;) ) The punishment does not fit the crime. (even if it is a "crime")

    I had a tenant at a house we rented out, who up and left with over $3,000 in back rent. I had to take him to court and I was waiting for a person from the Justice Department to come and help me collect what was rightfully mine.
    He never came.
    I was awarded less than half of the amount he owed - paid over 2 years. Justice at its finest. Perhaps I should have sued for $3,000,000.

    Im not saying its a health concern, not at all. However I sometimes mess with decoding low earth orbiting satellites and other Ham related digital projects. I have learned the hard way that having a sensitive receiver in the same room as a computer especially with no cover on is dicy at best. I have been known to run motherboards on a stack of books with a power supply dangling off for testing purposes. Back in the late 80's (ok im dating myself) I used to work in a small computer store and a ham operator complained and the FCC found we had no certifications on our custom build machines, basically shutting us down for a while.

    It's not unsafe, however without a grounded metal chassis, it will radiate a great deal of RF interference. You could not sell them assembled in this form because they would never pass FCC rules for RFI

    Actually, don't laugh. Large farm suppliers are trying to stop farmers from using seed from a previous crop, so they have to purchase new seeds and plants from their suppliers.
    Other industries are learning from the crap the big tech companies are pulling.

    Now that thees companies know how far they can push the consumer with this controlling bullshit and FUD, they look back as say "Why did we make personal computers so personal and open?" "We could have been in control for years!" Remember what Steve Jobs stated "The era of the personal computer is coming to an end..."
    So don't be surprised if tomorrows "personal computers" are locked down like the PS3 and locked into a specific OS.
    Thees guys are reeling at the fact that you can do whatever you want with your personal computer. And when they have control they will sue you if your try to install Linux.

    Ok Consider the following:
    While I wasn't home some drunk guy wanders on my property and smashes my bird bath, crushes my garden gnomes, empties my swimming pool, slices my vinyl siding, tears up my petunias, and smashes a window. Now I have this all on video and later he is arrested, so there is no question of his guilt. Then I drag him into court to recover my damages which are only $700. However I file the suit for asking for $1000,000.
    Now this is REAL property with REAL damage..
    Don't you think I would be laughed out of court?
