Depends what they mean I suppose. If it shows up as blind "P2P programs", people like Blizzard will be affected as the World of Warcraft updater is peer-to-peer. They'd have to make sure that users knew that, and that it'd only upload official patches, and give users an opt-out.
I've encountered a few other programs that have started using bittorrent style updaters, so really this just breaks legit users while probably not actually having an effect on what the law is actually aiming at, since every torrent app (or edonkey or anything) I've ever actually installed is pretty clear on the whole "Files in X directory will be shared" thing.
On top of the DRM, does it have a download limit like the Kindle? You can be cut off from your books on the kindle if you re-download them too many times (even to the same device). The publishers forced Amazon to include a download counter so you could be forced to rebuy the book after a while.
My parents went out and traded in a van for something better due to CARS. The dealership said they hadn't gotten money for anything yet, and they stopped allowing vehicles off the lot. So while my parents have the new car locked up, they don't get to take anything home until the government catches up on paperwork and pays out the cash.
From what they were told, a grand total of one dealership in the area has actually received any money thus far.
More to the point, the quality on the bookendz is terrible. We had lots of them at my previous job, and they'd constantly break/stop relaying video/etc. I don't think we had one last more than about 6 months, and they aren't cheap enough to replace that often.
Don't open it. I bought Spore, took it home, stared at it for about two days trying to decide if my desire to play it outweighed my disgust with EA, then returned it unopened.
I sure hope it doesn't have what is considered good battery life compared to other phones. I have to charge mine twice a day.
Assuming I don't fiddle with it at work at all (beyond the occasional checking to see what meeting it is reminding me about), I'm at 30-40% battery life when I get home. If I use it to check mail, or play music, or god forbid talk on it, I'm lucky to be at 15-20% battery life left when I get home.
My battery lasts maybe 12 hours under normal usage, less if I'm doing a lot with it.
If you are an active EVE player, don't use the torrent links to download the source. CCP is monitoring the torrents and banning any accounts with matching IP addresses to any of the people using the torrent.
They obviously can't watch them all, but don't download the torrent from an IP that you use to play the game.
I don't see how he was wrong. He said it should perform as well or better than the Voodoo 1, but was currently slower than the voodoo 1 due to driver maturity.
Why is it a great shock that the voodoo 2 was far superior to the voodoo 1?
bs stories? The local best buy in eagan mn has tons of ps3s unsold.
I'm hardly a Wii fanboy. I only got it for Zelda. The truth of the matter is there are still lines outside the stores damn near daily for people hoping to get a wii (or even just a controller), and ps3s are sitting in an ever increasing pile in the back room because they simply aren't selling.
Well, it does show "backslash" on the homepage. It just doesn't show through to the rss feed. Slashback's show up with "slashback:" in the title, which is all I want for backslash's as well.

Yeah, clearly the inventor should go back to things he's good at, like beating up ninjas with hockey sticks.

Buy and return it, explain why you are returning it. Shows that you had interest but are not willing to support the policies.
No, I mostly just lurk. I feel obligated to post when people make funny comments about low UIDs.
This is generally followed by the people with two digits mocking me for creating my account after class rather than before.
what were the dinosaurs REALLY like?
"Barney" was frighteningly accurate.

Levenez also has one of those for UNIX history. Both of which are sufficiently nerdy for a CS dept wall.

The only real mistakes that mythic made with daoc were the atlantis expansion and crafting.
I have high hopes for WAR.

That, or "A Tale in the Desert", but in space
The article says the thing is shipping in March, so not all that vapourware.
They better bring back Manimal.
I'd be more worried for the large number of people that shorted the stock and haven't cleared the short yet.
Probably more "Lets delay the video until Slashdot forgets about it so our servers have a chance to survive."
I take it you haven't heard that lost was renewed for 4 more years?
Of course, this being America, they'll probably just end up rounding up to the nearest $5

Given that he mentions home raised pork, he lives somewhere where that would be allowed.
My guess: quite rural. You can get a $40k house if you are willing to live nowhere near a metropolis.

I just wish they were labeled. "Backslash: Electric cars..."
That way I could avoid em in the rss feed.
