Yea I remember those books. Actually not bad at all. I like the one with Han's nemesis Berlando, and how Berlando actually wins their draw down at the end but dies stupidly afterwords. Great irony there and Han feeling lucky to be alive. I also read the Lando book "Cave of" something. It was not bad at all to. Those I wouldn't mind seeing on screen or TV or in OAV format.
Last month I did after not playing for over 4 years. Man I love the amount of texture and detail put into the game. As a wannabe game designer I try to put this kind of detail into game proposal docs and ref the game for inspiration. I love the computer mainframe concepts they have in the game. The retro future designs are perfect. I hope Bethesda realizes that world building anchored to a moving human story is key to this series. The dark humor is also a great facet to the game and should be included.
Ugg. A 5700. Man that was a mediocre product from the start. I liked the image quality alot but the performance was lacking. Your a couple of generations behind and need to upgrade regardless.
Yes corporate spammers are everywhere. I'm glad you see it to. Sometimes they don't even work for the corporation. Luckily we have moderators here....I think. Someone...anyone...
I thought you understood your customers. The ones who through word of mouth told all the regular no tech savvy friends and family what to buy. Now we will tell them what to buy and it won't be you.
You have to be fraking kidding me. A game controller for a FPS on a PC is like training wheels on a mountain bike. Why would I want to limit myself that way?
Someone who has no clue. I rather listen to gamer friends and form my own opinion. Now thats priceless having people who truly care about something instead of someone who doesn't remember why games are great. Does an Analyst "Cough" know how to throw a fireball in Street Fighter II. I think not!
The whole point of an auction is to pay as little as possible if your the buyer. Common sense right? It looks like you don't subscribe to that logic. Let me know what you buy on ebay and your user id and I'll jake up the price on those items to "what your willing to pay." You can be my sucker anyday.
Won't work. This hidden Shill network has an agreement to rotate bidders. So Joe from Kentucky bids on Sara from San Frans pots and then next week Sara bids on Ken from Florida electronics. There has to be a way for this to be tracked of at least analyzed. I've experienced this behavior maybe 1 out of 4 times I bid on things. It's easy to spot when you have 7 exact model Cisco routers from different sellers and the one I bid on suddenly gets jacked to 7 bids while the others have no bids and end within 7 hours of each other. I watched the Cisco router auctions for about two weeks to see this in effect. But now that I think of it hiding the Ids does help out some. This requires the Shill network to coordinate more instead of just looking at the bidders and seeing that Sell4Ever4 is part of the Shill network and helping him out by jacking up the bid. I personally didn't bid when I saw a seller with a lot of feedback and a buyer/bidder with a great deal of feedback to. (How can a poor musician buy so many items when he's been eating Ramen noodles for the last 7 years. Doesn't make sense at all) Well now I can't examine the users feedback. I'm seriously cutting back on my Ebay bidding and going to online classifieds instead. Ads that say $XXX.XX or best offer are much more appealing because the seller can't play games with me.
Yea...whatever man. Give me the store location and number and let me call. But you won't and you can't. Such typical fanboi (Read fanboi with the same contempt republican radio announcers use when they say 'liberal') manufacturing of the facts.
Let me see. As a sport playing nation we are drilled in faster, harder and stronger in sports. It's not something you unlearn instantly. Also these are traits that are praised by the sports fans...and women to to put it bluntly. We can't take all the blame for this problem. Nintendo needs to design to their target audience. If we aren't their target audience then so be it but don't blame us when the Wii is marketed to us. How hard is it for Nintendo to show a little forsight in the American market. This is a problem I've outlined before about the different ways of thinking between our cultures.. mentally and physically. There are times when this mindset has given me great fun in the arcades playing games like Virtua Fighter 2 which I consider one of the greatest games created. On the other side all of my other friends hated VF2 and played Mortal Kombat X sighting VF2 as 'to Japanese'. It's not so plain and simple I think.
You mean "Not" don't you. What you said is funny and true at the same time nevertheless. Japanese engineering can be genius but in my travels and dealings in Japan their attitude towards anyone not typically Japanese in thinking and size, they tend not to think about. Things are changing very, very slowly (I should put another emphasis on another 'very' just to get my point across). If you bring up an idea as an unproven outsider even if the idea makes sense and is proven true latter then still expect to start at square one with the team as you've just embarrassed the team leader. There can also be a huge communication gap between outside parties and the Japanese. No one wants to be shown as weak in other countries languages so they often don't communicate very much. Also input into a team from an outsider, even Japanese in the same company is ignored because a) How can they understand us and how can they understand the team since they have never been a part of it. Very frustrating. I really love the Japanese culture but not this part of it. So now I tend to buy products that have a complete feature set from Japan regardless and not things that will require some kind of upgrade or patch as I know the chances for prompt response to complaints will be slow if any. Those extra layers can be a pain to overcome.
People defending this must not care about truth anymore. It's a sad sad day when our world think that lieing is acceptable and that it's a normal part of every day life. Thank god none of these people are my friends (who think integrity is a positive human trait) but I think they are more the exception to the rule. Everywhere I go in media and politics and religion lies are pervasive. What are these people teaching future generations. I think these people don't think society has moral responsibilty to individuals but only to self gain at the cost of truth. I for one will fight that kind of thinking at any cost.
Spoken like a true geek. That's not a knock by the way. I think it's important to bring up the point that if a person is not enjoying his field of work then it's a good idea to evaluate what they really enjoy. Don't become a for life office stiff and be content with it. The sooner a person realizes what they want the happier they become. Don't let people fool you, your life is your job and you might as well enjoy it. Take risks and oh... Carpe Diem!
You mean you don't want it. Why do you care what other people buy. Your bashing it just to bash it and getting mad at people who see potential in the system. If you don't like it then don't buy it. (Yes I know you won't buy it so stop getting so upset.) It's just a console and life goes on with or without you.
Come on man why are you complaining. No one, nowhere, even God if he came down from heaven would convince you to get a PS3 so stop wasting bandwidth and go back to playing you Gamecube or Xbox or low end PC with Riva128 in it. Anyone remember that Vonnage commercial with the geek, the girl and the sports car and the geek saying to the hot girl "It won't work out I breaking up with you". Well buddy thats you.
So funny Rootbeer. Some people are so blind in their PS3 hate that cant see anything from a positive light. Be objective people. Just because something doesn't appeal just to you doesn't mean other people may not enjoy it. If you don't like the PS3 or see it's potential then don't buy it. I wont shed a tear.
People who guess and have no clue. Go to forums, talk tech friends and do your research and you'll make a informed purchase thus bypassing a group of people I see no use for whatsoever. In this age of information in-power yourself. It will never matter what analyst think, it's what you think.
Saw a special last year about the radiophonics labs producing music for the British public TV in the 50-70s time period. The women there stood out. Cool stuff. http://www.delia-derbyshire.org/
Perfection is attainable but very rare. It's what people who create strive for. Take a look at http://www.jwwaterhouse.com/ and tell me that at least one of these canvases are not perfect. Artist like Waterhouse redefine out notions of what is achievable. Also try http://www.michaelwhelan.com/. I've found in life that their is a direct correlation to a persons level of cynicism and how much they think is possible by other human beings and themselves. If we relate this to game design then how can you say Pacman isn't perfect. For the time and the limitations of technology that game was perfect, the game designers achieved exactly what they set out to achieve. If your applying photorealism as a criteria then your missing the point or personal preference for that matter. What's flawed and in-perfect to you might not be for others no matter what you think of them.
Yes I know where your coming from. I know addicts and have done interventions etc etc. The more I live the more I see the value of counseling to get to the root cause of these problems. Yes reality is hard but people can be taught skills to balance their lives instead of living in gaming worlds however appealing. Does anyone know of any groups out there that help people with this?
George needs to focus on small things anyways to get back into really finding out what writing is all about again. Small stories, small cast and one on one direction. Make a bunch of those types of stories and try most of all to make a connection with his audience and maybe even a connection back to himself. Luke gazing towards the twin suns on Tatooine longing for something better for himself and wondering if he will ever find it or just rot away the rest of his years just like his Uncle Owen. This is what I'm talking about it. Universal themes that even the average John/Jane can relate to. That was the magic of Star Wars and not the special effects and politics. Movies are about real characters in conflict and when you take away the real you might as well take away the character to. I have hope for George and hope he limits his budget and cast and finds people he has never worked with before on both sides of the camera and gets rid of the yes men and gets back to story telling. Only then....

I see you have no girlfriend. I can sympathize. . Cynicism and Bitterness are two sides to the same coin.

Who the heck cares what the NY Times says. If your going to the Times to get a console review then there is no hope for you.
