    Tesla is bringing the sleazy car sales game into the modern era. What do expect from a company run by a tech guy in the age of the ubiquitous TOS? The arrangement and even the product you purchased are subject to change at any time.

    Yeah it's the consumer's fault that Linux is fragmented, has little to no mindshare outside tech people, demands arcane knowledge to do many simple things and has a lot of condescending tools that would rather make people asking for help feel stupid than making the effort to educate them.

  6. Try to search for help on google products, go to any 'official' google support page. Read 1 OP, 1 cut and paste reply by a Google AI, then read 20 pages of 'WTF' Google. I don't know why they even bother to pretend they give a shit by providing contact info.
     
    The only time I've ever seen Google reply is when I submitted a correction to Google maps. I presume they bothered because someone could have driven into the stand of trees that showed to have a road through it and sued them.

    "GPU buyers are idiots" Are you suggesting we should all switch to AMD cards? I think I'll stick with my "5 year old architecture" that the new hotness from AMD can usually barely keep up with while using way more power. For that matter, do you really think Intel, AMD (cpu and gpu), apple, or any other tech company is NOT sitting on technology? There is no GPU conspiracy from Nvidia...

  13. Apple probably has a foldable in the pipeline. The problem is, they will either release it too soon to try and ride the wave while dealing with people 'unfolding it wrong', or they will try to make it perfect and miss the boat. Tim Cook seems to be content to talk about innovation while watching the competition do the actual innovation.

  14. By killing the stores, Tesla appears to be counting on word of mouth to sell cars. The people on here that think buying a car online is a good idea probably have friends with a Tesla and have had at least a little hands on. A seriously stripped down model that only comes in one color seems just the trick for people that want to be able to say "I own a Tesla". Thanks but no thanks.

    it's not my number one, because i don't really care. My statement was that the OS is the main thing that distinguishes a Mac from anything else. Buying a sub par computer and removing that part just seems odd.

    If you're going to replace what may be the number one thing that sets Apple apart (the OS), then why would you pay more for hardware that is well behind the competition and a laptop that is designed to be hard to service/upgrade?
     
    Sure, it doesn't have to make sense to me, but I struggle to see how it could make sense to anyone.

    If you're referring to illegal immigration, focus on the word ILLEGAL. We have laws, if you don't agree with them, you work to get them changed, not tell people to ignore them. Waving it away is disrespectful of the millions of people that have come to this country through the legal immigration process. The United States remains one of the most welcoming countries for people wishing to make a better life. All we ask is for people to follow our laws. Why is that too much to ask? If I rob a bank, then spend the next 20 years being a hard working citizen, that doesn't change the fact that I robbed a bank.

    You just recited the democrat's motto. Unless they get a perfect solution they oppose just about any solution. You must always satisfy every interest.
     
    Give him the money. Let him build the wall. If it works out, great for everyone. If it doesn't, well Republicans will pay the price at the next elections. It's not as if that money is going to be spent on anything else of value. It will be pissed away on some other feel good project or pork and most of it will never be used for the purpose it was allocated for.
     
    I have relatives working for the govt. They are worried more about their rapidly dwindling savings than border walls, DACA or political posturing from either side.

      of course they aren't for iPhone users. They never had the option of having them and don't know what they're missing. The one thing they did have was a headphone jack and Apple took that away. Anecdotally, I know many iPhone users who would jump to Android if they weren't so heavily invested in the Apple ecosystem. I also know many Android users for whom those items ARE a deal breaker.

    wahhhh. and MS has improved, sometimes voluntarily, sometimes due to legal action. What MS has never done, at least not close to the scale of Google, is sell every bit of data they get about you to damn near anyone who asks. Some telemetry back home is a far cry from direct access to your emails, contacts, personal interests, shopping habits etc.
     
    America, where no one is ever forgiven for wrongdoing. Corporation or petty criminal, no amount of atonement or punishment is ever enough. Yeah, MS did some unethical crap, the most egregious of it 25 years ago (and yes, I was there and in IT at that time) but at what point are people going to let it go? Plenty of modern companies make using MS as the benchmark for "bad" pretty silly.

    They may very well not have a legal case. Instead they want to use the court of public opinion. Being a government agency, they can slander all they want and get off with a "my bad".

    Mine works really well, sad to see it discontinued. I got mine for $22 on sale. So long as you have a wired local network connection, it's rock solid, even with newer games. Kind of iffy for me on wi-fi, and my router is only 10 feet away with clear line of sight. Only issue I run into, are games that don't support a controller. I suppose a steam controller would address a lot of those.
     
    My opinion is to buy one if you've been considering it before they disappear.
