How is this any worse than domestic propaganda?
I see fake news on TV all the time. The worst of the stories get retracted -- eventually. The worst fakers get fired or reassigned (Dan Rather, Brian Williams, etc.) But there is a steady stream of anonymously sourced stories, presented as "news", only to magically disappear when it becomes obvious that somebody made it up.

In related news, Google abuses it's power in advertising. And Google abuses it's power in video. And Google bullies a leftist think tank.
Read the links now, while you still can. If you have Google Fiber, maybe read them on your phone. (Of course you can't read one of the articles in question -- Google made sure of that.)

Re:Have the BLM and Antifa follow.
Antifa are an actual group. You can find chapters of them all over europe, canada, they've been spreading in the US for at least 3 years. They're no different then american-centric versions like BAMN(by any means necessary), they run in the same circles. Claiming to be anti-fascist, pro-communist/lennin/marxist/or some mix. If you think it's a virtue signal, then you apparently missed the berkeley riots, which was the handywork of bamn and antifa.
In other words: You either live a very sheltered life, or are a shill.

No one is making a criminal accusation
Wrong. It is exactly that — a criminal accusation. People driving SUVs or eating beef are evil, because they are killing the planet . So, yeah, vast well-funded forces are making criminal accusations with punishment ranging from mandatory education for the ignorant to prison time for the worst offenders, who are committing the crimes against humanity.
rhetorical turd you have dropped has an intimidating perfection because people would rather step around it than sweep it up.
Ah, a fecal metaphor, nice. Too bad, it does not help your argument in the slightest. For all the SAT-words in your vocabulary, you are still wrong — the Western world really is on trial, a criminal one, the fact you attempted to deny. Remember to logout.

Re: Death to middle class
Oh, it looks like I found where some of that Canadian healthcare money is coming from.
Canadian defence spending among lowest in NATO . . .
Military expenditure (% of GDP)Maybe the US should stop picking up the slack for NATO.
Hmmm....
Report Says Canada’s Socialized Medicine Failing Canadians
Canada’s socialized health care is driving more than 63,000 Canadians out of the country for medical assistance — largely to the U.S.
A new report from the Fraser Institute, a conservative think-tank, estimates that more than 63,459 Canadians traveled to find the health care that is often unavailable in Canada, usually due to long wait times for operations. That number is a 40 percent increase from the previous year, CTV News reports.

Re: Vague accusations from one of Trump's people
It's no secret that most people do not donate to political cause they believe in, much less ones they don't.
What's also not a secret is that people with a narrative to push will often present a less than honest story.
And given that FEC donation information is the best (possibly only) indicator we have of political affiliation, you need to show that a 90% skew in favor of democrats in all donations is somehow statistically insignificant.
You know what's factually significant? That you are still relying on on your "90%" number, without addressing my point that you left out the actual number of employees who donated.
Or do you really think several hundred thousand federal employees ponied up for the Democrats?
And to be clear, we're talking out tens of millions of dollars. So, not "a handful."
Nope. The contributions by Federal employees is closer to two million dollars in total for 2016.
Even allowing for late reporting, that's well over 15 million dollars you can't account for, which really shows your lack of truthfulness.
You can even see the number of contributions. It's in the range of hundreds. Which means sure, high-level appointees contributed to their party, but despite your false blandishments, the rank and file are something you have no evidence to support your contention.
Really, even if I let you off by tens, you're still going for five times the actual amount.

Re:By the year 2100?
"You "hear" incorrectly. Assuming no runaway feedbacks kick off, the expected increase by the end of the century is between 1 and 2 meters."
Let's see what NOAA has to say.
https://oceanservice.noaa.gov/..." Sea level continues to rise at a rate of about one-eighth of an inch per year."
So, 1/8 inch per year, for 100 years, that's... 12.5 inches. You're right, that's not a foot per century it's 12.5 inches per 100 years. AHA! Oh, wait, it's not a meter either.
" Places like Miami flood during high tide now."
That's because the city is sinking into the sand.
http://dailycaller.com/2016/07..."Andrew Kiernan, a real estate expert from Franklin Street, makes the point that Miami Beach was built on sand, something that would lend itself to subsidence."
"The climate SCIENTISTS have been pointing out the bad science coming from the right and climate cranks for decades."
The climate scientists should perhaps talk to some geologists and real estate people before claiming that sea level rise is the cause of city flooding. Miami is 3 feet above sea level, they get some minor flooding once or twice a year. Assuming a meter rise in sea level per century they have decades yet from when flooding goes from a minor nuisance to a constant problem. They can start by telling people to STOP BUILDING THEIR HOUSES ON SAND!
We have flooding here in the Midwest. In the last couple decades we saw some old neighborhoods get flooded in just about every major city in the Mississippi River valley. It's common practice to redraw the flood plains every so often and declare those places off limits to new development. They get turned into grazing lands, hunting areas, parks, sometimes farmers still plant crops there knowing they run the risk of losing what they planted.
We have this figured out. Maybe those people wearing expensive suits in Florida need to go talk to a trucker hat wearing farmer on how to manage flooding.

Re:It's like he thinks he's on Reality TV
As someone who spent seven years in active service, and trained many soldiers in Canada, worrying about someone's sexual orientation or whatever was dead last on my concerns. As in never spent a moment thinking about it, or caring about it.
That's nice.
Same-Sex Rape In The Military On The Rise
. . . Male-male sexual assaults have risen each year since the repeal of the “don’t ask, don’t tell policy” that excluded “out” gays from the military. More specifically, Pentagon statistics show nearly 4,000 more male-male rapes in the year after the ban ended (2012) than the last year it was in place (2010).
-----
Are we sure he's sane?
To be fair your political leanings have often left me wondering if you were a nutter.
It's hard to believe that you sent 7 years in the military, let alone in any sort of responsible position. But throw in Canada and things start to make sense in a certain way.
-
Re:and?
To be fair there are some things that hurt cohesion. Units with poor cohesion can fall apart in combat.
-
Re:and?
And gays.
Indeed.
Same-Sex Rape In The Military On The Rise
Indeed, the numbers bear that out.
---------
And women.
You would have to be profoundly ignorant if you're going to try to suggest that there are no differences between men and women when it comes to doing various military jobs. Any thoughts as to why there are essentially no women on "mens" teams in professional sports?
The pattern is so predictable we can all basically sing along to it.
Indeed we can. "The differences don't matter." "Standards won't drop." "No negative effects..." Bla bla bla.... boils down to "We care more about careers for diversity hires than combat effectiveness."
Yep, heard it before.

Re:... with a little bit of nuclear
ARE YOU SURE you are not supporting solar future "with a little bit of nuclear"?
Quite certain. Wind, solar, and hydro are not capable of supporting a modern economy.
http://dailycaller.com/2017/07...
Solar fails on a very important aspect, reliability. Without large storage devices and/or long wires to a place where the sun is still shining, solar power fails. These long wires and storage facilities add very critical points of failure, as well as carbon footprint and expense. If each nuclear power plant has 3 or 4 reactors on site, and some of that same storage that people propose for solar, then each power plant can provide reliable and inexpensive power to the community surrounding it. No big storage is needed to last through the night, just enough reserve for load following and emergency situations. If all else was equal then nuclear wins on being reliable.
Massive failures like Three Mile Island, Fukushima, and Chernobyl were because of a failure of design and operation. We don't build reactors like that any more and no one would be foolish enough to do so in the future. Nuclear power is only going to get cheaper, safer, and a lower carbon footprint as technology improves. Solar power is already hitting theoretical efficiency limits, and even though it may get cheaper and safer it will always be limited by the sun shining.
I've heard from some people that have studied this for a long time and they tell me that if wind and solar exceed 20% of grid production then bad things can happen. Sure, people have pushed this limit but at the cost of needing expensive gas turbine and diesel reciprocating engines to make it work. This is far from "green" or cheap. What makes up that other 80%? If you want to be "green" and cheap then it's nuclear.

Re:Liberals
There have literally been over a thousand cataloged attacks from the right wing since the election.
Attacks from liberals on conservatives have been fewer, the chart one month goes up to ten!
The left wing violence list includes things like "throwing eggs" while the right wing violence list has "throwing acid."
I'm sure there are better sources for this information out there and I'm interested if anyone has any. I just did a quick google search on both.
At any rate, I can't fathom anyone who suggests violent college students are a serious threat. They're far less scary than Islamic terrorists, which are themselves factually less dangerous than armed toddlers. Don't be an asshole racist demagogue and go to the most wildly liberal campus in the united states and you'll have nothing to fear from college progressives.
Or do even! Not a goddamn hair on Milo or Coulters' heads were harmed! Fucking snowflakes... -
Against bias, not against education
Slashdotters are generally wary of Facebook and Microsoft - not because Slashdotters are against computers, but because of their desire for privacy.
Conservatives are generally wary of modern-day colleges - not because they're against education, but because they read about colleges these days (with Evergreen, Mizzou and Berkeley the most extreme examples), and they see a strong bias against conservatives in most colleges.
We're not against education, but against being forced to attend classes taught by teachers with an obvious bias against men, white people, and/or conservative people.

Re:Trump isn't the problem
In their minds, the 'losers' from the 'fake news' outlets are outraged that Trump won and are trying to sabotage him from every angle, so obviously the news are going to report negative things about him but that's just because they don't want him to "win."
In what universe is this not true? The media gets caught lying all the time. CNN just had to fire 3 people for lying about Trump.
The establishment press uncritically "vetted" and embraced a Clinton campaign talking point designed to make Trump look foolish, divorced it of its political context and reiterated it word-of-God style for more than six months - all the time either ignoring or missing entirely easily obtainable information proving it false - and then suddenly reversed course on the claim weeks after it was unambiguously and authoritatively debunked. We live in a world where r/the_donald - a Reddit thread teeming with Trump supporters - proved more shrewd than The New York Times and the Associated Press when vetting an important claim about the Russia investigation.

And in the meantime...
...this so-called president is an idiot who is in waaaaaaaaaaaay over his head.
And in the meantime, over 500 VA employees were fired, demoted, or disciplined for incompetence.
...but sure, keep telling us about how outrageous his tweets are, how it's shameful that he has no sense of decorum.Meanwhile, he's quietly getting his agenda passed.
Also of note, Mark Meadows has threatened to shut down the government unless Congress funds the border wall, and if that happens it will be the Democrat's fault!
Also also, Ronna McDaniel wants to delay or cancel the [legislature] August recess unless health care is fixed.
I am *SO* happy that people are outraged over his tweets!
He's so waaaaaaaaay over his head, what with all the winning and such!
Bwaaaah ha ha ha ha!

Re:ADA was a huge waste
OK. I understand what you meant now. Does one guy/event make it a trend?
I'll say that it doesn't seem to be just one guy, or just one event. There have been several attacks on Trump supporters. And that is from last year. Here is a newly updated list. It notes at the start
Amid this backdrop, The Huffington Post publishes an article calling for the execution of Trump and “everyone assisting his agenda.”
The situation has gone from beating - many attacks over many months - to shooting. We will have to see if it is the only one.

Typical Democrat Diarrhea
The all-Democratic city council in suburban White Plains, N.Y., gave its party chairperson a six-figure judicial seat despite the fact that she is too obese to climb the three steps to the bench.
City judge Elizabeth Shollenberger, who suffers from a digestive disorder and obesity, was appointed to the $175,500-a-year job in December and has since disgusted her colleagues with gastrointestinal issues.
“She would come in and we would see the diarrhea running down her leg and to the floor,” one court worker told the NY Post. “She would soil the chair and then ask for a new one.”
Shollenberger further dismayed her colleagues by displaying “complete arrogance” following the embarrassing incidents.
“She would just say, ‘There is a mess over there. I think someone should clean it up,'” a court source told the NY Post.

"Broken multiple stories", by just making shit up, you mean.
Yes, that's why he beat everyone on Susan Rice. For example. And he was the one that broke the story on google silencing ideological opponents(right-wing and conservative websites from search results) which was a "mistake" according to them. And he was the one who broke the story on the Billy Bush tape leak. Then there was the one where he beat 60 minutes around the neck with their own unedited tape...and now it looks like he's about to blow the lid off the "international arm of the clinton foundation" that was shutdown after she lost the election because all those international donations suddenly stopped...
Much bullshit right? Or is he simply shining a light on bad things democrats and hillary have done and you don't like it.

Re:But, her emails!
To be fair, Clinton did have an unsecured Exchange server hanging on the public Internet, and her lieutenant John Podesta fell for the world's dumbest phishing scam... I mean, c'mon.
(note: I voted Libertarian and live in the People's Republic of Oregon, so I have no dog in this fight and could not have possibly affected the results. That said...)
As for the dreaded hax0rz TFA details, how come during the election season Obama said, flat-out and public, that there was no interference going on and that everything was fine? Further more, he never warned the alleged affected state election officials. I mean seriously, one would think that if he were concerned about it at the time, he (or rather, his administration) would have at least informed the IT folks over the affected systems so that they could at least try and remediate and harden things?
I'm not saying that the Russians never tried (though nobody is saying if they succeeded or not), but it's damned odd that it only became a concern for the Obama administration after Clinton ended up the loser.
If she had won, would we even be hearing about any of this, or would the response from the MSM be a demand that the complainers remove their tinfoil chapeaus?

Re:popular vote
Tyranny of the minority is better?
No, limited government is better. Hillary ran on a program of tyranny of the majority. It's not surprising that with such a program, she can get large numbers of votes, but that doesn't legitimize her political program. The fact that the US system keeps people like Hillary out of power (and it's not the first time) is a big plus of our system compared to Europe. A loser like Trump is still better for the country than someone like Hillary.
Almost three million more people voted for Clinton than for Trump.
Popular vote totals are meaningless in a electoral system with 55% voter turnout. How hard can that be to understand?
Furthermore, if the election were held today, Trump would probably lead in both electoral votes and popular votes, so even according to your math, Hillary doesn't represent "the majority" anymore.
And 108 million voters chose to vote for neither of those two jerks. If we went by actual majority, we'd have no president at all.
-
You have the wrong president
To be fair, Trump was pretty "Me, Me, Me" as well. In his acceptance speech, he said "Only I can do this, only I can do that, only I blah, blah, blah."
I think you mean Obama. He talked about himself 75 times during his farewell speech...
Meanwhile I cannot find any examples of what you are talking about in Trump's actual speech, which he spent almost entirely thanking other people.
It would be nice if you statist supporters would refrain from outright lying at least once... But I guess that is asking way too much of integrity you completely lack. What a shame that every single post from your kind has to be corrected lest the lies spread.
-
Re:Busted
I noticed a lot of "parodies" of Trump's hat around. And almost exclusively from people that would not be admirers. When I saw this "MAKE AMERICA RAGE AGAIN" cap, pretty much straightforward and unironic in its copying, I thought Trump's messaging might be on point.
There was even a girl attacked because her "make bitcoin great again" cap was apparently mistaken for the real deal.

Re:Thank the Universe (I don't believe in a god)
Until Congress changed the law a year after Clinton left the State Department, there was no reason the Secretary of State couldn't use an outside email service for official business.
zombie Sandy Berger is fascinated by your alternative facts and would love to subscribe to your newsletter:
On July 19, 2004, it was revealed that the U.S. Department of Justice was investigating Berger for unauthorized removal of classified documents in October 2003 from a National Archives reading room prior to testifying before the 9/11 Commission. The documents were five classified copies of a single report....Berger was fined $50,000,[23] sentenced to serve two years of probation and 100 hours of community service, and stripped of his security clearance for 3 years.
Hillary had the same amount of authority to set up her own email server as Berger had to take out classified information in his pants, as much Petraeus had to show classified information to his mistress. Hillary is also a hypocrite of Newt/Bob/Denny proportions as she had blasted the Bush Administration for using a private email service two years before setting up her own private email server.
"Our Constitution is being shredded. We know about the secret wiretaps, the secret military tribunals, the secret White House email accounts," Clinton said. "It's a stunning record of secrecy and corruption, of cronyism run amok. It is everything our founders were afraid of, everything our Constitution was designed to prevent."
It's also fascinating to watch Dems continue to defend Hillary's email server as a great idea, at the same time they are seeing Russians hiding under every bed trying to hack into computing systems and engage in shenanigans. But her unsecured server was still a great idea!

Re:Alternative title:
There seem to be an awful lot of techies who don't understand that politicians can in fact control what happens outside their country.
Maybe not on the entirety of the internet, but certainly for a few big social media companies, which is all that matters to the millennial crowd anyway, since they have elected to move entirely to corporate centrally controlled internet services. It works especially well when the social media company - let's call it Facebook for example - agrees and wants to self-censor to avoid the bad PR associated with free speech. Even that is not strictly necessary though. Especially not if the whole EU is aligned. When the social media company has offices and infrastructure in a jurisdiction, it can be pressured by that jurisdiction to take actions even outside the jurisdiction itself.
Don't be too over-confident. Yes, you'll still have your darknet. But for most people "the internet" is nothing more than a handful of social media companies any more, and with that centralization comes the ability to exert pressure on just a few points.

Because he had intent to distribute them
No, he had no intent to distribute them for espionage, as even the prosecutors will tell you.
and he was explicitly warned before taking the pictures that what he was doing was illegal?
Hillary was explicitly told of her responsibilities as an Original Classification Authority, and a mere two years earlier lambasted the Bush Administration for.....conducting business over private email. So you can add naked hypocrisy to her already established corruption and negligence.
Next excuse?

The left made careless accusations of "white nationalism", fabricating a "movement" based on unsubstantiatied claims made by two random guys. These sorts of false accusations harm the lives of innocent people such as Matt Furie. But I don't understand the following: Why doesn't the conservative establishment fight back?
Why doesn't FOX News try to dispell the left's fake news? Why don't prominent conservative individuals call out the unsubstantiatied claims? Why is the Daily Caller the only organization that's covering this story? Why do the conservatives seem so willing to let the left make insane accusations and harm people like Matt Furie?

Re:So they sell to anyone
"At least we didn't cozy up to the religious right, spawn the TEA partiers, and elect a cheeto."
So instead of cozying up to the religious right (the group of people who founded, and fought and died to create the country that you live in and benefit from http://www.freerepublic.com/fo... ), spawned the Tea party (a grass roots set of peaceful organizations fed up with Washington politics and liberal overreach who left their protest and event grounds cleaner than when they arrive http://www.thegatewaypundit.co... ) and elected president Trump (the only non-politician citizen running for the office this last election cycle). Instead of doing all that, which you somehow think is horrendous, the left spawned:

-The left has disrupted and shouted down conservatives and their events and violently attacked Trump supporters. http://www.theblaze.com/news/2...There seems to be a large contingent of rabid fascists on the left and an even larger cross section of lefies who are so secure in their moral superiority that reality cannot intrude. The fascist left had better tone it down or they may end up facing the national guard and lead bullets the next time they try to violently assault someone else's freedom to assemble/speak. The rest of the left had better start paying more attention to reality and pull their heads out of their collective echo chamber (or their asses, I can never tell which is which with them).
Based on this comparison, I will take the conservative approach any day of the week and twice on Sunday. You should focus less on name calling and more on staying abreast of actual actions committed by these groups, both left and right.

Re:Hate Trump
I don't know why this guy hates Trump so much. Just because Trump spews bad ideas does not mean he will not be a great King.
Bad ideas? King? Obama was close to a king, though he was clearly a despot.
Ideas - Like actually paying for stuff instead of just charging up the credit card until you're bust like Obama tried so hard to do. Like trying to secure the boarders, which no nation can survive without (check out Mexico, even they have a wall to their south for this very reason). Like trying to fix Obamacare that is really bankrupt right now with millions "insured", though the deductible is so high they effectively don't have any insurance. Those that did have insurance don't anymore. Like calling out the hate mongers on the left for being the hate mongers they are? Those ideas?
I know, you'll probably come back with something like he's lying. Check back. You'll find he was mostly right on everything he said. Wiretap - yup, even the NY Times called it wiretapping - https://www.nytimes.com/2017/0... . Has to be true, it's the NY Times after all. Yet they seem to have forgotten their own article.
Even a vicious attack just hours into his presidency about Martin Luther King - http://time.com/4645541/donald... . The crazy leftist reporter just couldn't wait, in fact he was chomping it to bit to say he was a racist and got it wrong of course. Were it a right reporter we'd have protests and demands to fire him of course. Besides it's Trump's office after all, even if he did remove it so what? He doesn't have a say in what is in his office?
Then we have this fake Russian connection story even though Obama's best efforts using the full power of the government couldn't find any connection. They found where Russia tried and failed, however. There are LOTS of connections between Hillary and Russia, even Podesta who in fact is an un-registered foreign agent - http://dailycaller.com/2017/03... . Hillary's uranium deal - https://www.nytimes.com/2015/0... . Yes, uranium. Where's the outrage?
And so on.
