Grand Theft Auto Liberty Cities Review
Havent seen much word of reviews for the new GTA game on any major Gaming site, ill start the ball rolling with an amateur review by a young american with his own point of view.( http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t

I Still Prefer the GP2X to the PSP
This is great news for PSP owners but i still am waiting for the killer homebrew and emulation console that the GP2X is going to be, even today 1 week before its released the homebrew community already has Screenshots of Quake runnin on the machine. So im happy for PSP owners but im going for a machine that they wont be releasing new firmware for
:) -
Re:Finally!
Right, because we know no one actually owns a copy of the games they want to emulate.
Apparently, I just imagined that there was a VNC client, ScummVM port, PDF reader, file manager, Doom port, Heretic, Hexen, a port of Quake in progess, etc... in addition to some pretty decent homebrewn games...
I would be lying if I were to say I don't enjoy playing my old genesis favourites on the psp, but even those I own.
Most of which, and many more can be found here: http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/ -
To Those PSP V2.0 Owners who have Downgraded

Re:keeping pc gaming alive
Finally, you can emulate consoles on a PC, meaning you can effectively play games for any platform on the PC. The reverse is not true.
http://www.psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/
http://www.dcemu.co.uk/
http://www.zophar.net/
Umm my psp can emulate consoles and there a port of bochs out and it can load win95(I know not the cutting edge windows but still it can do it). Other consoles that have emulators are: Dreamcast, PS2, XBOX, PS1, DS, GBA, Ngage and tapwave.I'd say the open architecture is important.
What about the gamepark gp32 or what ever the new one is called they have an open system. -

Good Link - More Cash for Content Holdings.Com
Theres another exploit here and thats the commercial exploit of the Homebrew scene by Content Holdings.com who brought the PSPhacker domain and when the japs released the hello world and early releases they repackaged the releases as their own and add to that the 3 dollars a month to remove ads that "premium" members pay and also the free psp (and we know thats a scam) site they have and not to mention the fact that if a release is on a site they consider a rival they either say they were emailed the release or another lie. Well at least the site admins can collect more cash now thanks to Slashdot and others, why on earth they didnt link to the coders is beyond anyone but if you remember the BochsPSP news they linked to their own site then also. If your looking for decent news sites for PSP then try http://www.maxconsole.net/ http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/ or http://psp-archive.de/

Re:Puppy love
Well, I haven't been this exited about a system since the Dreamcast. And before that the Amiga. So yes, I think the DS is pretty darned special and I've never owned so many games so early in a system's lifetime. Incidentally there's also a great homebrew scene.

Re:A decent FPS?
With the $45 NDS Dev Kit + Compact Flash card and an original copy of hexen or heretic you can play DS Heretic or DS Hexen. I only have an 8MB GBA flashcart which isn't enough space to try these out...
The total cost is about the same as 2 DS games, plus you can now watch movies and do all the cool homebrew stuff on your DS. -

Talking of Ports...
Talking of ports theres been a number of great emulators and homebrew released, in the last few days you have had a Vectrex Emulator, an Atari 2600 Emulator, a Spectrum Emulator and even a Homebrew Starwars gane released. Although i do wish for Red Alert 1/2 for the DS

Sony Killed Off Homebrew
Its a shame that Sony killed of any chance to try Homebrew On the PSP with the release of the new firmware. If only a manufacturer would embrace the fact that people like to see weird and wacky games ported to whatever console they have just brought.

Its a Shame That Sony Killed off Homebrew
Sony could have left the ability to use Homebrew On the PSP but no they had to kill any hope for UK and Europe to enjoy some of the many great releases by amateur coders.

The UK PSP Owners Miss Out and Get Ripped Off
Its just a pity that the UK & Europe are stuck with v1.52 PSPs that cant run all the Brilliant Homebrew and Emulators for the PSP including tonight the release of an Atari ST Emulator for the PSP, theres also discussion today that certain Firmware versions of the PSP Can Play UMD Films from all Regions. One final thing the PSP is being sold in the UK for £179 (if you can get one) but Success HK are selling it for $239 or £125. Why is the UK still being ripped off

There is such a thing as a Homebrew Web Browser
It was made to browse the 2ch BBS but its been edited and used to browse normal websites, its still a bit of a WIP as far as a fully featured Web Browser but anythings better than nothing, PSP Emulation News has it for download : http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/2chwebbrowser.shtml

Re:Don't install it!
yes the PSP homebrew site PSP News http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/ has warned not to use it because it will kill the ability to have homebrew on the PSP.

Wab Exploit for V2.0 Already
Just read over at http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/ that someone has posted news of a possible exploit of the new firmware, on the day sony release it in the USA.

Actual progress made on hacking 2.0 by WAB ?
Posted over at DCEmu Forums http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t
= 9716 The Wab team have uncovered an exploit for the new firmware?? How To : !!! HOW use it !!! Put your two folders on your games folders and run it .your game boot and freeze your psps on white screen .after your psps shutdown it's because your second eboot.pbp like on kxploit "From pspsdev team for psp 1.5" is corrupted juste find teh 02000800 and replace the 08 by 01 for test in the header of your elf it's easy but it's proof concept the psp 2.0 can read the elf but in another format . Hopefully the Dreamcast Will get a Port
Over at http://www.dcemu.co.uk/ they posted news that someone may be considering a port to the Dreamcast, they already had the commercial game released so you never know. Other than that id like to see a PSP Port, we have had Port of Quake but Quake 3 would throw open better mods.

Re:The PSP is the Homebrew and Emulation Dream
This site has quite a collection of good PSP news and homebrews:
http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/
Their homebrew selection seems to show quite a flourishing homebrew community, with far more releases than what I've seen for the Nintendo DS. -
The PSP is the Homebrew and Emulation Dream
The PSP well for owners of the V1.0 and V1.5 firmware (for now) is the ultimate Emulation and Homebrew Console with such sites as PSP Emulation News, the jap site PSP Wiki site and the forums at PS2 Dev being the best places to catch the new releases. Lets hope they crack the v2 and v1.51/1.52 software soon.

Will we see a PSP Port of Quake 3 ?
Is it likely we will see a PSP Port of Quake 3, we have had a Port of Quake and i know the Dreamcast with less power (but professionsl coders) had agood port of Quake Arena?
-
What about the Nintendo DS and the ScummVM Port
The ScummVM Port for the Nintendo DS is probably bigger news than this and works perfect, heres the ScummVM Port link.
-
The people you linked to are the worst scammers
PSPUpdates.com are a company who are ripping off the homebrew scene with loads of ads/popups and free psp pyramid schemes that are exploiting those who dont know what they are. Please stop linking to them
:( Emunnoobs has a dossier on these crooks and PSP Emulation News would be a much more legit site to look and post PSP Scene news. Come on slashdot newsposters. -

Hacks other than MAME
I'm currently reading Harry Potter 6 in an ebook reader on my psp.
I wanted to read comic books in the PSP's image viewer, but it was too slow and crappy and also doesnt realize that 01 comes before 10 in filenames.
Fortunately there's now a much better homebrew app that works really well.
Playing Dr. Mario in the NES emulator is pretty sweet as well. -
Re:In other news...
No, I'm not an idiot. I'm good at recognising all sorts of not-entirely-serious posts. What's your excuse?
But while we're here, if wifi for the PSP hasn't been cracked, what the hell does the PSP Weather app use to download its data? How does the FTP server for PSP work? (I'll give you a clue - it's not by IR).
And I can't believe you're carping about the ability of the emulator to run games and don't even mention the fact that it has an entirely different UI to the PSP. Or perhaps you've got a cunning plan for emulating a touch screen with an analogue stick? -

Not a problem - just run it on the PSP using the Nintendo DS emulator and you've killed two birds with one stone.

Re:Useless waste of time
Also what about the dreamcast? You can use linux on it. AND xmame AND a version of mame for it. So by your logic the dreamcast is a unusable platform for playing mame on. Also the dc290 by your logic is not playable. Was the camera a 'gp' machine? *NO* it was a camera... But you *KNOW* this because you have tried it right?
Wow emulation is slow would have never guessed that. Guess all that mame playing I did on the ppro 200 was to slow for you even though it was full speed.
All you really need to play most games in mame is a semi ok proc (333mhz is not good enough for you but usuable for MOST games), a decent blitter (a built in hardware one), a decent streaming sound device (can decode mp3s and mp4s real time).
Its not going to be running 100% on the first compile. It takes a bit to make a new osd layer for mame. But you know that right?
What you are basically arguing is the same argument why pc's had crappy audio/video for years 'they are not meant to play games'. Yet some of the best games ever have come from pc's.
Also how do you *KNOW* that it doesnt have the horsepower to run MAME? This dude pulled it off and has already started to speed it up by fixing his mistakes in the OSD layer. It isnt like he picked a bottom end game either. It is trying to emulate 4 processors. It may even already be doing the sound processors and just not sending the data out.
You are also arguing the SAME thing people used to say about Amiga emulation. That it was not possible without a 10ghz box. Yet we have decent emulation of pretty much all Amigas now, today. It has been for many years. On much less hardware.
Now is MAME going to be tuned to use every little bit of the psp. No probably not. But I would bet cold hard cash within 6 months this dude (if he doesnt loose interest) has quite a large number of games running full speed.
Also you seem to have missed that people also have the neogeo going on there at a decent speed.
http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/negeocd.shtml
You dont NEED to have a 3.2 ghz boxen to emulate a 4MHZ computer. Something much slower will do just fine. What is it going to do with all that extra horse power? Wait faster? -
Re:Anyone else annoyed...
Well, a "Mario World" demo came out based on the "Hello, World" demo, though this was only 2 days later, and it was nothing more than a graphic.

its the Dreamcast & PS2 scenario all over agai
Will the stupid press in britain all hail the PSP just like they did the PS2 and kill off the DS just like the Dreamcast was killed off even though the Dreamcast was the far better console at that time.
That saying i found a great little PSP news site over at http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/ some ads but great news coverage of the PSP scene. -
Re:WTF?
Scummm VM is even available on the Dreamcast, which plays the games quite well even for using the analog stick to move the mouse. I've played both Sam and Max and DOTT through on it and it was a great experience.
