Perspective, yes, but not as personal as this:
The sattelite images show the extent of damage, but remains impersonal. This picture graphically shows the actual devastation and number of deaths..

Re:Nintendo not innovating?First analog controller (N64)
False, PC had those years before
And for those who care, so did PS1. PS1 had dual shock before the N64 came out, it only had the 2 analog sticks and no vibration. N64 came out with rumble, so Sony added rumble to the controller before bringing it to the US.
First "rumble" feature (N64)
False, PC had those years before
First touchscreen (DS) False, this had it years before
First analog shoulder buttons (Gamecube)
False, PS2 had those years before

Here's the question...
If this is a site that is using BitTorrent as a method for downloading 100% legit material like public domain movies, linux distributions, creative commons licensed songs, etc., I'd be pretty sympathetic and probably throw in some financial support.
But I've never heard of Lokitorrent. Is this an example of the MPAA attacking the BitTorrent PROTOCOL, or is this as the MPAA unfairly letter suggests, an attempt to stop someone from illegally distributing copyrighted material? If it's the former, I think it's bullshit. If it's the latter, then, well... I'm not sure this the kind of test case I want to see setting precedent for BitTorrent's future or reputation.
Remember, copyright law, as flawed as it is (in terms of duration and other areas), is what currently gives the GPL its teeth. -
Update
Since I submitted this they updated the site and have now have received $9,940 in donations.
Also, they posted an image of the of the complaint they were served with here. -
Re:Innovamatation
You, sir, are an idiot.
- games that use GBAs as additional screens
- a card game that uses a GBA for scannable minigames
- a peripheral for playing GBA games on your TV
Gimmicks. Unlocking features by buying new hardware addons just SCREAMS marketing. Oh, and the last one is just a newer version of the Super Game Boy for SNES. Big whoop.
- bongos, for both a rhythm game and a platformer
Gimmick.
- voice input
This has been a goal by many companies for a long time. The N64 had it for Hey You, Pikachu! and the Dreamcast had it for Seaman. PS2 and Xbox also have it. Ironically, the only console that hasn't had it until very recently is *GASP* the GameCube!
- touch screen
Oh really?
- first party wireless controllers
The success of the Wavebird is a result of good engineering, NOT innovation. Wireless controllers have been around quite a while.
As for the games mentioned, I'll give you Animal Crossing and Wario Ware. Both are quite excellent. But what are you referring to in "a genre-busting combination of puzzle and RTS"? -
DS, schmee-ess!
For what it's worth, the DS isn't an entirely new portable. It's an amalgamation of the original Game & Watch and Tiger's game.com, with added wireless connectivity to bring it into the 21st century.
That's right, the commercials with the blue-haired midget. XTREEEME. -

After a frame by frame analysis ...
After doing a frame by frame analysis , I have come to the conclusion that this is not the first time (she didn't puke, you know). The girl has left the country as soon as it went public (for obvious reasons).
The video was taken using something called SpyCam available for Nokia 6600 (is presumed to be a pirated copy). A Mobile phone hanging down the neck, with a wide aperture seems to be a nice way to capture videos , heh.
This is a high profile high school couple from wealthy families. Too bad that guy had to MMS his puny cock being serviced by a girl with barely any boobs , to get bragging rights.

Re:Edit - Preferences
There is a Firefox Extension to give you the full Mozilla-style preferences dialog.
Link? The idea of the reduced options is a very good one. Nobody wants to hunt through thousands of options, just to change the font... Just as you consider about:config cluttered, so too is the Mozilla preferences dialog to anyone who is accustomed to another browser.
I disagree. Finding things in the Mozilla preferences dialog is quite simple -- especially for the commonly used things (font options are under "Appearance" then "Fonts"). Indiscriminantly hiding vast swathes of preferences in a giant unsorted pile (about:config or GNOME's windows-registry-like interface) is a cute way to be able to dodge the "it's not in there!" complaints, but AFAIC this is just lazy interface design.I fail to see how. Moz differs greatly from Netscape 4, and the differences between Moz and Firefox are relatively small.
Maybe another look will refresh your memory:Obviously they are quite similar. I'm sure you can download a skin like this for FF, however Mozilla looks this way out of the box. Mozilla also detects and imports bookmarks and mail from NS4 with a single click on installation.

Re:Hmmm
There is no evidence of substantial fraud in America's voting, however painful the feeling of defeat may be to the Democrats (themselves known fraudsters in the past, BTW). Your champion conceded. This article -- and even the Slashdot write-up -- make a point, that the programmer in question makes no accusations.
First off, I don't believe this story (it don't smell right), but voter fraud is rampant in America. The democrats use to do it through ballot stuffing, the republicans now have the computers, hence their ascendency. I have no real opinion on the 2000 election, and there's no difference between Kerry & Bush to me, so I have no bias between the two.
That being said, this was a rigged election. Kerry may have been a bad candidate, but that's because he was throwing the election. However, throwing the election isn't enough when you have a candidate as bad as Bush. The same arguments we've been using against Ukraine are directly applicable to our election. The exit polls were just too far off and only in those places that went digital. Exit polls aren't like pre-election polls, they're normally very accurate.
People really need to wake up and start seeing this country for what it is, and not just what the rhetoric says it is. We are probably the most corrupt nation out there right now. You can say, in country (insert backwater here), you can bribe a cop to look the other way in a murder case. But that kind of stuff is small time. It's like when people tell me what a good liar Bill Clinton was and I say, no he's a bad liar because everyone knows he's a liar. People like Bush are good liars because he can get both the left and right believeing that he's a man of deep Christian faith despite belonging to a Luciferian death cult like Skull & Bones. If the corruption is naked and on the surface, it won't get too far. We in the west have much more sophisticated means of controlling the public and hiding our corruption in plain sight. It's more than just rigging some votes, it's making sure the opposition is actually on your side, so that they'll throw it or at worse continue the same criminal policies if they manage to get elected, and it's keeping the media in line so that they don't investigate the fraud.
Either way, we're left with no choice at the end of the day. Whoever gets in office will continue full-steam ahead with the looting of the middle class and the transfer of wealth out of this nation. We will always be going to war with someone every couple of years, our civil rights will continue to erode (and won't ever make a comeback), and eventually the economy will completely collapse and we'll be left with the bill and no jobs to pay it. In an open dictatorship, people would have probably revolted by now. In America, people blame themselves because they're told they choose the government. This is the nature of the 21st century dictatorship. Convince the people they're free and you can commit any atrocity against them, including making them pay for those atrocities through their own tax dollars. This is the system they're trying to put in place for the rest of the world right now. Our only hope is for people to start realizing this on a mass scale so that when things do start crashing down around us (we're well beyond being able to fix things), we'll be able to avoid the same mistakes next time around. -
Re:Bad Science from "The Bad Astronomer"I believe the image shows the impact of a dime-to-quarter-sized meteorite traveling slightly under the speed of sound at splash-down. Not only does it satisfy Occam's Razor with only a single item explaining all features on the image (dark trail, white arc, bright flash), but also represents a phenomena which actually isn't that unusual, and which have been recorded on film on more than one instance before.
I'm not aware of any images of meteors actually hitting the Earth. I think this would be a first in that regard.
Also, your explanation does not explain why in the diff image there's no line marking where the lamppost blocks the smoke, as there would be if the light and smoke had formed from a splash in the sea behind the lamppost. Good try, though - I'm leaning toward the bug hypothesis myself, but there are problems with that one, too.

Re:Switching to IE
the image Sorry, I fudged up the link to the screenshot...
-
Switching to IE
That's the simple way of switching to IE rendering. Just right click, and it'll reload the page. Your other pages/tabs would still be working using the Gecko engine. When you're in IE mode, right click, and hit 'Display like Netscape', and you're back to using Gecko.
You can also set individual controls for sites in the options: you can set a certain webpage to always render using the IE engine: microsoft's site is set to this by default (hence why Windows Updates works). You can even enable/disable ActiveX for websites (even if they're set to render in the IE engine), including javascript, images, popups and so on. It's a really nice feature...
Many people here seem to hate the IE rendering capability. Frankly, as a web developer, I LOVE this...no longer do I have to have IE open when designing a site, I can just right click, and voila! And it defaults to Gecko for everything, unless you specifically tell it to open in IE, so I don't see why so many are complaining about the security issues...
I'd actually consider using this full time once their are better themes, and extensions like the web developer tools is ported over. Right now the 'get more extensions' and 'get more themes' links in Netscape seem to link to update.mozilla.org...but the site seems to be down. So who knows? Some stuff might work...

Re:Best way to make side money...
well, i only work to pay rent and eat. i don't waste my time earning it -- i work about 2 months a year. i've had a regular job. i spent so much money on lunch and transportation and proper clothes and other who-knows-what. back then i didn't have time to enjoy my hobbies so i would "compensate" by going to movies or indulging in my vices. by making less money i have more time for what i enjoy -- living. sometimes it's hard to make rent but (for me) it's better than a commute, a boss, or justifying to myself a life at a desk in exchange for money.

No install - Run it in your browser!
It's just a flash movie in a cross platform shell.Run it in your browser!
-
Analysis of what it does.1. This is a flash movie in a cross-platform player system. You could make a webpage that runs the swf stand-alone. like this.
2. It requests http://backend.makelovenotspam.com:80/xml/1/0/0/0/ CONFIG_0.xml (your numbers will vary)
3. This produces an XML document that looks like this:<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
4. To perform that actual attack, it does not make an HTTP request. Instead, it opens an XML socket to the server and sends small XML documents (all of the form {garbage}). Occasionally these have garbage xml tags embedded within them. I assume their reason for this is that HTTP requests go through the browser and could have personally identifiable info attached to them.

How about an ASCII movie instead?
before invading Iraq, the U.S. government used the Internet to communicate directly with Iraqi soldiers by sending them personalised messages saying, "We're about to invade. We're going to overwhelm you and if you resist us we're going to kill you...."
Before we invade Iran and Syria, maybe they should send this instead. -

Re:The USA uses 40% of the world oil supply...No one has said the US would not do its part to limit pollution
I don't think anyone has to say that, do you? It's pretty obvious. Look at who just won the election. Look at his environmental record over the last four years. Look at what the markets say.
Everyone seems to forget that the US has three governing bodies, each with their own piece of the political power pie.
You seem to forget that all three are now under the control of a single party, which is itself under the control of the polluters. Basically, the current US government couldn't give any less of a fuck about the environment. They might give it some lip service, but in any decision where money is on the line, you can pretty much predict what side they will support. -
Compromise: Bushery or Kush
Compromise.
First Bushery (or Kush?) invades one country on false evidence, then flip flops and invades another, ignoring the first. -
Offensive tomorrow?
I wouldn't be surprised if Bush & Co. decided on a major offensive Monday:
It's certainly interesting that a huge number of fresh troops just arrived in preparation for just that.
Would it work against the administration to do this? Polls say no.
Obviously, I'm not sure if they'd be that daring, but if they are, you heard it here first (if they're not, this comment, like most conspiracy theories, will just lapse into oblivion). -
Re:Does this mean Kerry will win?GNAA supplies arms, expertise to Iraqi Freedom Fighters
GNAA supplies arms, expertise to Iraqi Freedom Fighters
September 21, 2004
GNAA Headquarters, NigeriaIn a surprise move early this morning, the GNAA announced its new policy of open support for Iraqi Freedom Fighters, pledging aid and expertise to the troubled region. GNAA spokesman Gary Niger appeared on the Orly Factor this evening to field questions about the alliance. What follows is an unedited transcript of his response to a question on the GNAA's motives for alliance.
"I don't think it's surprising. We were initally skeptical of these people's ability to deliver, since we discovered that Jews, not arabs were the ones responsible for WTC 9.11 NEVAR 4GET. After the Nick Berg affair, we got interested."
"We looked over the Saddam Loyalist\Radical Fundamentalist adgenda and found that we had a lot in common with these guys. These guys are really focused. Just look their insistance that women keep their homely faces covered at all times, to keep men focused on men, the way our Gay Nigger God, Allah intended."
"But what really sealed the deal was compassion. When we looked over their financial records, we were shocked. These brave, oily men are out there on the streets of Fallujah every day, risking their tight asses, and they're not seeing even 1% of the revenue associated with their heroic actions."
"Look at the Nick Berg video. Here you have a great artistic vision, marred not only by poor equipment, but also by the scheming jews at Ogrish.com who unjustly stole their copyrighted material and made a huge profit on it. It's unconscionable."
"Fortunately, we at the GNAA believe in freedom, and we believe in helping out the underdogs. That's why I'm so pleased to present the freedom fighters of Iraq with the following gifts:"
"To prevent further exploitation, we are assigning our top programmers to share our DRM (Dong Rights Management) technology with these valiant men. Biometric Dong Recognition is becoming widely recognized as the most secure means of identity establishment, and with our new vibrating scanners, it's easier than ever."
"While these guys don't lack heart, their VHS camcorders have got to go. We're supplying not only three professional Betacam SP units, but also 25 Canon XL1s camcorders, for agents in the field. This will greatly increase not just the number of beheadings caught on tape, but also the quality."
"Say goodbye to grainy, choppy beheading videos. The next time you see some poor bastard getting his shit lopped, it's going to be in 3 CCD quality, with image stabilization. With Canon's XL lens mounting system, you can now be decapitated with Mohammeds's (PBUH) full blessing, at potential focal ranges between 24 and 17,280 mm."
"And of course we'll be encoding it all with 'Terrorist's Choice' OGG Theora\OGG Vorbis."
"Finally, I would like to present one gross of top of the line Husqvarna 3120XP chainsaws. We've all watched with embarassment at the struggling efforts of these spindly-armed arab boytoys. Now, junk lopping can be accomplished in a fraction of the time, even by the pathetically malnourished."
"This is a great day for both the GNAA, and the movement to free Iraq from its oppressors. Allah Al Akbar. Jews did WTC."
Mr. Niger concluded his speech by blasting semen into Mr. O'Reilly's eyes, effectively ending the debate.
About Iraqui Freedom Fighters
Iraq has long been known as the world's premiere terrorists to meet, greet, and defeat their zionist oppressors. With the Israel-led coalition forces squatting on holy sites, Iraq is a modern day decapitation bonanza. Iraq's Freedom Fighters are well known as the world's most industrious
