Resident Evil 4, why? Can't read the article at work, but wouldn't RE4 be considered just a port of a game that already won most of those "awards" last year? Even giving it a nomination for Art/Visual would be a little generous. The only reason it's acceptable is because during the transfer from GCN to PS2 it was difficult to achieve similar graphics.
Oh, and God of War wasn't that good. It's just like playing Devil May Cry 1-25, only you don't get a choice of weapons. Hey, a brawler is a brawler. And it doesn't get much better for brawlers than Final Fight on NEO GEO.
Although it'd be nice if Bandai's would finish and release Cowboy Bebop. Gametrailers says it's coming out on 3/1/06, but seeing as nobody else is confirming that, I don't know how long it's been since there has been an update. Anyone?

I have two stops for reviews
http://www.gamefaqs.com/ and http://www.gametrailers.com/.
The point for me is that the score doesn't matter one little bit. What is important is *why* they gave it that score and/or why they didn't.
For example the reviewer might mark a game down because it was too hard. For me that would be a plus. They might say it is fun but too short, which also might appeal to me at certain times.
What is also important for me is to see some actual gameplay. I can often pick up more about a game from a 2 minute video review than a 10 page article. When you can see things like camera, frame rate and so on it really helps you get a handle on what you are in for. -
Holodeck?
They're probably going to power it with the old emotion engine from the PS2... wait.. I mean the old Cell proc. from the PS3, yeah. I hear that's supposed to win some sort of counsil war? You know, the one where everybody has an eyepatch?

site seems to be quite slow...
but you could still take a look at the movies
;)

In general the game looks pretty good, I watched a few of them and in general it looks like "yet another hack and slash" party.
In other words: I don't think it will really offer anything more about other MMORPG other then a different set of terrain...
to bad.. -
Re:TV and Video Online
I'll add http://www.japander.com/ (celebs do commercials and make asses of themselves in Japan), http://www.gametrailers.com/ and http://www.quicktime.com/ (for the movie trailers) but the list is still far from complete.
Alot of these sites are unfortunately not linux friendly (only sites compatible with mplayer and realplayer work on linux to my knowledge). -
I just seen this on gametrailers.comAnd since a picture can tell a thousand words, I guess some videos will make it up to a million of words
;-)Looks very fun indeed.

Impressive trailer
as posted in the earlier PS3 article:
kill zone trailer, on the ps3, in-game/real-time apparently
it was also pointed out (by KDR_11k (778916)) that it's being argued if the trailer is pre-rendered or in-game here -

Video Games were never 'underground'.
I really do miss the days when video games were considered underground and for hardcore nerds.
When was this? I know I played my nintendo when I was a kid and I wasn't considered a nerd back then. I don't think 'video games' were ever underground like that. There are games that were/are underground like pretty much everything FPS before Halo. I could be considered a nerd because I played Pathways to Darkness and Marathon II and this Madden-playing bandwagon hoppers today don't even know what Marathon is.
Video games themselves were never underground. They were just traditionally for kids but never a nerd thing. D&D is a nerd thing.
Video games underground.. sounds like someone want to be a little too street. Take out your 50 Cent CD guy. You're not that gangster and neither is he.--

Re:Wow, I'm blindSo they're going to have rappers and pop artists making appearances and change it from a videogame expo to one of pop culture, I expected this." E3 better not sell out.
Yeah, and since this is the future of gaming, I'll stick with nintendo, thanks. (Seriously, you HAVE to click and watch that trailer).

The trailer shows absolutely nothing
This is a 100% pre-rendered advertisement for a product that doesn't exist yet. No clips of rendering from actual XBox 2 hardware, just pure unadulterated movie scenes.
*yawn* Wake me when someone's got real footage.
And for those that don't want to wait for the forum to load, go here: http://www.gametrailers.com/gt_vault/t_wardevil.ht ml -
I don't know about you guys...
...but that link seems to be a bit hosed so I couldn't even find the link to the trailer
:(
After a wee bit of googling I figured this is it though

Speaking of CG, Blizzard is showing good form...
...as usual, with the latest WoW trailer (~20MiB).
Humans, animals, fur, particle systems, water, fire, etc.
Watch it.

Re:Damn,
Gamespot, and others all have initial impressions of the game. There's even a movie of the thing in action. There's also info on the official page.

Eh? Where are the facts coming from?
"Konami Corp... said they won't offer new games for the device."
"Konami... has said it will release three repackaged games for the PlayStation Portable."
How is it that Metal Gear Acid is not new? What is it a repackaging of? What is the Game Trailer showing, if not footage from a development build?
I've played the previous Metal Gear games, and the footage from MGA is clearly a new game. -

Rome: Total War could be the only game coming out this year, and I wouldn't care. This game alone would be enough.
Medieval: Total War was a fantastic game which came as a complete surprise when I first played it on my roommate's computer. I almost immediately went out and bought it, and I still find myself going back to play "for a turn or two" and find myself plugging away 5 or 6 hours later. But as fantastic as Medieval is, Rome appears to trump it in every way imaginable.
First, Check out the trailers.
Wait, one more.
Okay, seen all that? Those are around a year old. Here is E3 2004 footage. (Apologies, WMP appears to be the free version of the videos. You have to register to see the Gamespot vids, but I suggest checking THOSE out...there is a much longer, better trailer that doesn't appear to be at IGN or gametrailers.com) The horses no longer move in unison, can jump over fallen bodies, people can get thrown when hit from a charge, everything looks even more fluid, I could go on for hours.
And this is just the real-time battle portion of the game, to say nothing of the turn-based portion.
Half-life 2, Doom 3....those two very touted PC games? I could care less at this point. Give me more Total War. -

You mean like New Super Mario Brothers?

Re:Hell, I pirated it, and I'm glad I did
I feel obliged to defend its gameplay when the opportunity arises. It's likely the best game I've played...
Well, what other games have you played then?
For single player FPSs, the Medal of Honor series and Call of Duty are amazing. Good story, great map variety, great atmosphere.
For multiplayer FPSs, I won't touch anything that's not objective based with unique squad members (Medic, Engineer, Special Forces, etc).
Right now I don't think there's a multiplayer game out that's more involved and fun than two free games, Enemy Territory, and America's Army.
Speaking of Medal of Honor. Pacific Assault looks like it will blow everything else out of the water.

For some examples...
Try gametrailers.com's tv spot section.
I thought the one for GTA III was nicely done. It was just like a movie trailer; it showed some of the action, showed some of the cut scenes, along with clips of audio which gave us a feel for the plot and game.
