It's always a bit sad if people believe their own propaganda. There are many reasons why the rate of reported rapes in Sweden is high. But as far as we can tell, an unusually high incident of rape as defined in other countries is not among them. Sweden has a much more expansive definition of rape, a different definition of what count as a single incident of rape, a very comprehensive collection and reporting system, and a very low cultural bar to reporting rape.
I'd also be very sceptical of everything the Gatestone Institute reports - quite apart from their political bias, it should be a warning that they run advertisments that promise beautiful Russian women who just want to take your out, and presumable sell you thousand's of iPhone 8s for only US$1 per piece....
This.
Some people go to any length to prove their bigotry has a basis in reality.
Crime has seen an uptick in Europe of late, but is this due to immigrants or the more rational explanation that economic conditions have worsened over the last year. You'll notice that the a worse uptick in crime is occurring in the UK whilst the immigrants are leaving (which might have something to do with the UK's economic conditions worsening faster than Europes).
Nah, must be the immagrunts, right? Not like crime and poverty have a demonstrated relationship.
Also, serious crimes like stabbings are a rare thing over here, the massive increase over 4 years is something like 50 extra cases a year in a city the size of London (8.7 million people). -

Re:San Bernadino all over again
Well, you have to admit, nobody really bothered defending the important ones that protect your freedom and privacy, but the one that can actually backfire gets defended like it's the only important one.
That is kinda odd, don't you think?
It would be odd if it were true, but it isn't, . . . at least for the United States. In fact it is a load of utter rubbish. Or are you really going to try to claim that you've never heard of civil liberties organizations like the ACLU, EFF, Alliance Defending Freedom, The FIRE,

Re:Well, duh!
Even though we like to think that everyone is enlightened, etc as us, in very broad swaths of American society being gay or jewish (or Muslim or...) is very much perceived as a negative out of the starting gate. File under: Sad-But-true.
I wonder how much of this is based on completely rational reasoning. Gays don't have kids (adoption notwithstanding), and the social purpose of having kids is to keep the population up and society running. Those that don't have kids have their social usefulness cut in half and are seen as not doing their part, so to a pre-robot society whose main resource is population, it's understandable that back then such people were looked down upon. I'm not saying that people were/are right to ostracize/mistreat others based on their sexuality, I'm just saying that such a point of view reaches the realm of rationality when viewed through the lens of history.
Jews have a tendency to be frugal/cheap and often restrict their social help to only other Jews, whereas in the US people lean more towards the idea of helping everyone. That's not to say that every Christian is an amazing, giving person (every group contains a spectrum of people), but when generalizing those are details that tend to come out. Muslims, well, there's a religion that hasn't left the dark ages. A quarter of muslims living in the UK support Sharia superseding local law when in conflict, if not outright replacing it. People are understandably worried when the fastest-growing demographic wants to outlaw homosexuality (52%) and who knows what else. Again, that's not to say that all muslims think like this, but when large portions of a group of people hold beliefs that are the antithesis of western freedoms, in Europe it's a huge problem that's only going to get worse before it gets better... assuming it ever gets better.
People are shitty and some groups of people have more shitty people than others, but should judge the people we meet based on their personality/actions and not their labels (heh, if you read between the lines, to SJWs that's oppression because you take people's victimhood away). However, in topics such as mass migration, such generalizations must be taken into consideration, even though I agree that using such terms as insults is bad and nothing but an attempt to make society's problems an us-versus-them problem, which doesn't help anything.

Germany.
Throw away your passport. Don't tell them where you're from. Apply for asylum. Worst case you get denied but you still get free housing, healthcare, food and other basic necessities. If you refuse to leave long enough you get a permant residence permit.
How's that working out for Germany? I hear that rapes are up by double digit percentages and social friction it as 50 year highs.

Re:Sweden
Anyways, why bother with facts when you can use #alternativefacts, the latter doesn't even require any references.
You mean like the fact that actual "physical assaults" have gone through the roof? By nearly 1500% That's not the overly broad definition that people like trying to use. That's the definition that we'd use here in North America, meaning physical assault plus violent penetration. That the number of reported gang rapes has gone through the roof as well. Or that there's more cases of this type of garbage going on? One also can't forget that since they had that migrant surge and allowed all those people in, violent crime has jumped 300% Or that the swedish government seems to be scrubbing the backgrounds of the attackers out of crime stats or the media uses the "swedish men" claim when they aren't citizens, aren't naturalized, have no form of landed residence.
Those are facts. Much like the fact that the government leaned on the police and media in Germany to suppress the number of assaults during new years a few years ago. These are the same facts that Germany is currently facing, and France. It's why tour companies in Asia are telling tourists to avoid some Euro destinations because cities have become unsafe.

Re:Malignant narcissist upset, news at 11.
Because the second statement is false
I suppose it must be false as you've as asserted it to be so with no argument whatsoever.
I note that you have abandoned your original bogus claim
Such as:
“Of course there are no-go zones in France where the police cannot intervene and do their jobs in safety,” Denis Jacob from the union Alternative police-CFDT told The Local. “And it’s the same for fire fighters or pretty much any representative of the state. The police can’t apply the law in these areas, they are attacked. If the police can’t do their work it’s because there are criminals and delinquents who don’t respect the law.”
, for example. Do you mean to suggest he's lying?
Pity you're replacing it with an equally bogus claim.
What, that Sweden is the rape capital of Europe? Been for a swim in your pretty little bathing suit recently?
perhaps it is because you are in fact islamophobic?
I have a phobia against bad ideas and Islam is an extremely bad idea. Speaking of twaddle, perhaps your news sources are lying to you?

Not really. The FBI did a really good job over the decades. So did European governments. Problem is, they're bringing in a lot of people that have been taught from the age of 3 that it's ok to kill infidels. They teach them that every year. A few people they can deal with, 10's of thousands is a lot harder.
It's simple, don't let them into the country. Send 'em back.
The alternative is we won't have a Europe in probably 10 years. Probably won't have a United States either. We'll all be slaves, under Sharia law.

Re:American chauvinism
You'd be surprised how much is protected by the First Amendment.
You'd be surprised if not astonished that most of the planet isn't American and is not subject to American principles of law. But it is. Not only is Israel not America, neither is France, Spain, Indonesia, the Philippines, India, Russia or Venezuela. Outside the borders of the US you're just another bunch of foreigners, sometimes behaving yourself and at other times acting like dicks. One might wish to cite the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on free speech, but it's not that clear what it includes and doesn't include. One might also look at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation which in it's version of human rights states that free speech is OK, as long as it doesn't conflict with Sharia. "Palestine" is a signatory.

You mean anti-porn zealots like these?
I mean, anti-porn zealots mentioned in the write-up:
Anti-pornography groups have succeeded in their efforts to get Starbucks and McDonald's to block porn on the chains' Wi-Fi networks
That's the party of Trump, by the way.
More of the anti-porn zealots may be among Trump supporters, but the even worse danger is from the freaks, who'd criminalize (what they deem to be) "hate speech". These are mostly in Hillary's camp — are you comfortbable in that company?
Neither group should be allowed to prevail and the best way to achieve this is by keeping as much stuff as possible out of government's control to begin with.

Israel is fighting terrorism
Without warning, a third soldier emerged from inside the tank and started shooting at the three girls and then also at their grandmother.
This may or may not have been a horrible war crime, but it was not an Act of Terror. There is a fairly clear definition: civilians must be the targets (not bystanders) of calculated (not accidental or mistaken) violence for the purpose of intimidation or coercion or instilling fear.
The IDF refused to let an ambulance bring them to the hospital
Hamas has uses ambulances to transport troops and ammunition. They also use children for suicide attacks — a common practice by Islamists in Palestine and world-wide. Children are also used as human shields — because it works on impressionable useful idiots like yourself. Whether the women, who stepped out, were innocent, or were about to throw a tank-disabling bomb under the tracks, may not have been obvious.
But, again whether the IDF soldier had justifiable suspicions in his shooting of the family, or committed a war crime, it was not an act of terror.
And I did ask for three examples — certainly, a country labeled "terrorist" by detractors would have at least three acts of terror to its name...
Hamas averages dozens of such acts every year — their whole strategy is based on targeting Israeli civilians, because they are impotent at targeting IDF. And yet, you'd like to pretend, Israel is "worse" or "just as bad". Fail.

If it turns out the "racists" are correct in some fashion, does that make them "racists"?
Irrelevant. The racists are still racists. It doesn't matter if they wear pink slippers on Saturday mornings or if they also like to play tennis.
Immigrants being overrepresented among crimes is used as an argument to punish those who doesn't commit crimes. That is racist and unfair.
You can easily spot a racist. The particular argument doesn't matter, they will always come to the conclusion that all people who are different from them are the same and should be treated as a group and punished as a group rather than individuals.

it's quite enough that an activist prosecutor like Marianne Ny smells some publicity and the opportunity to 'send a message' to start that chain of events and completely screw up the victims life far beyond the original issue.
Interesting rhetoric, but I don't recall hearing that it was the prosecutor that "screwed up" anyone's life. I would think Assange might have played a roll in that.
Hopefully Ny's utter incompetence in this has put a permanent black mark on her career.
That is probably what happened to the first prosecutor.

Sorry, but no. US defense spending has been falling since 2010. For 2015 it will probably end up being about $120 billion less than 2010.
Major personnel cuts are happening too.

Intelligence Report: Number of Islamists in Germany Grows
Germany: Islamists Infiltrating Schools in HamburgGerman interior minister warns of threat of lethal attacks by Islamists
On Wednesday, German interior minister Thomas de Maizière (Christian Democratic Union, CDU) warned of an imminent threat of terrorist attacks by Islamist “religious warriors” in Germany and throughout Europe.
“An abstract danger has become a concrete, lethal threat in Europe, with an impact on Germany,” the interior minister said at the presentation of the domestic intelligence agency’s 2013 report in Berlin. The attack at the Jewish museum in Brussels, where four people were killed by a jihadi at the end of May, had “made clear that the possibility of an attack by such forces returning from Syria has become a deadly reality,” de Maizière explained.
Domestic intelligence chief Hans-Georg Maaßen added, “Islamist terrorism represents the greatest threat to society. Germany is not far from terrorism. We continue to be a target for the planning of attacks.”

Re:How Many More NSA Employees?
Many European countries have significant numbers of extremists in them that are either involved in terrorism or support it, including France, the UK, and Germany. One of the terrorist cells that conducted the 9/11 attacks came out of Hamburg. Germany has seen a rise of neo-Nazi violence, including a string of murders, and there have been concerns that the government was looking the other way to allow it. At the same time Germany has been a key supplier of sophisticated weapons to various countries, including Israel. It was also a country that did a lot of business with Saddam. There are growing tensions among countries in the EU over a number of issues, including the financial and economic problems, and some old hatreds seem to be stirring in many places. These sort of tensions have previously led to war and genocide. Russia, China, and probably Iran, all have many spies in Germany. Chancellor Merkel's phone was being monitored by five (5) different countries, not just the US. Russia especially would like to neutralize Germany, and see NATO fall apart, and who knows what with the EU. The potential for the Euro to fall apart in a meaningful concern, and the German central bank plays a key part there. There is certainly more beyond that to be concerned about. If you can't figure out some reasons why the US may be interested in the domestic affairs of not only Germany, but other nations to varying degrees, you don't really have much useful to say on the matter.

...(2) The second thing we call you to, is to stop your oppression, lies, immorality and debauchery that has spread among you.
(a) We call you to be a people of manners, principles, honour, and purity; to reject the immoral acts of fornication, homosexuality, intoxicants, gambling's, and trading with interest.
We call you to all of this that you may be freed from that which you have become caught up in; that you may be freed from the deceptive lies that you are a great nation, that your leaders spread amongst you to conceal from you the despicable state to which you have reached.
(b) It is saddening to tell you that you are the worst civilization witnessed by the history of mankind:
(i) You are the nation who, rather than ruling by the Shariah of Allah in its Constitution and Laws, choose to invent your own laws as you will and desire. You separate religion from your policies, contradicting the pure nature which affirms Absolute Authority to the Lord and your Creator....

Re:Who is really endangering agents' lives?
They aren't showing the public what "endangered" or whose lives were actually endangered. We are suppose to just believe them.
So what it comes down to is that the only way to convince you that the lives of secret agents are endangered by there being a list of them in the wild is to actually show you the list of secret agents and explain how they are in danger? And everyone in the public needs to be convinced in the same way?
Am I the only one that sees even a tiny problem with that?
The only people I'd have respect for are those who are doing something to stop this shit. David Miranda, Julian Assage, Chelsea (Bradley) Manning, rebels, terrorists, and others.
So your sympathies are literally with the terrorists? What could possibly go wrong?
Would you care for a lifetime supply of bus tickets?
If it does endanger lives. Well- good. Maybe it'll teach people working for the government is dangerous and stupid. Putting your life in danger for money is not a bright move.
So you are for terrorists and want the lives of government officials endangered? You seem to have an endless supply of bad ideas. Maybe you're ready for a lifestyle change?

Re:Going nowhere
Not to put too fine a point on it, but Thomas Jefferson was an American revolutionary. While you seem very keen on spilling the blood of patriots and tyrants, you aren't really addressing the real issue. In fact, as far as I recall you just completely ignore or try to assume it away every time it comes up. The problem involves this lot, and their brethren:
At Least 4,000 Suspected of Terrorism-Related Activity in Britain, MI5 Director Says
Muslim Gangs Enforce Sharia Law in LondonThey have been actively plotting attacks, and used other means as well, to try to force their way of life on ordinary Britons. There have been many arrests and convictions in the UK as a result. A sample:
Bomb plot: Life sentence for Irfan Naseer, ringleader of Birmingham men planning wave of UK suicide attacks
London terror bomb plot: the four terrorists
7/7 London AttacksSome of those cretins are quite willing to spill not just the blood of patriots and tyrants, but the blood of innocents as well. This has been amply demonstrated in Russia, Afghanistan, and other places.
Russia school siege toll tops 350
Acid attacks, poison: What Afghan girls risk by going to schoolAlthough you may think it wrong, the surveillance by GCHQ is a meaningful part of the security services efforts to protect ordinary Britons. You don't offer anything to replace it.
Waving your hands and saying no system is perfect isn't helpful. Polemics against the monarchy in a story on the UK are misplaced, and overthrowing the monarchy does nothing to protect Britons. What would you do to replace the surveillance to keep British subjects from harm? If your answer is something along the lines of, "Don't cause offense to the rest of the world. Pull back into a shell." then you have just demonstrated a complete lack of understanding of the problem. The ideology of the extremists is an aggressive one; they mean to take over the world even if it takes 1,000 years. So we come to the question again: what would you do to prevent British schools and football stadiums from being drenched in blood, besides advocating the overthrow of the monarchy, which is in no way helpful at all?

Re:blowback
As is common in this matter, you have things badly confused. Israel did nothing to Iran to deserve they way the new Iranian government turned on them. If you think otherwise, please provide a list. One hint to reduce the chances of you going down the wrong path again: the Palestinians are not Iranian, and the Iranians are not Arabs.
As to "untermenschen," that would be the view of post-revolution Iranian government, and many Arabs living in Palestine.
On Monday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry held an international conference. Nothing unusual in that: Foreign ministries hold conferences, mostly dull ones, all the time. But this one was different. For one, "Review of the Holocaust: Global Vision" dealt with history, not current politics. Instead of the usual suspects — deputy ministers and the like — the invitees seem to have included David Duke, a former Ku Klux Klan leader; Georges Theil, a Frenchman who has called the Holocaust "an enormous lie"; and Fredrick Toeben, a German-born Australian whose specialty is the denial of Nazi gas chambers.
The guest list was selective: No one with any academic eminence, or indeed any scholarly credentials, was invited. One Palestinian scholar, Khaled Mahameed, was asked to come but then barred because he holds an Israeli passport — and also perhaps because he, unlike other guests, believes that the Holocaust really did happen.
In response, Europe, America, and Israel expressed official outrage. The German government, to its credit, organized a counter-conference.

If you are referring to "stuxnet," it wasn't launched against the Iranian infrastructure, but against Iran's nuclear program, which includes clandestine work on nuclear weapons.

UN chief denounces Iran to its face over calls to destroy Israel
'Cancerous tumour' Israel will soon be destroyed, says AhmadinejadIsrael’s existence is an “insult to all humanity,” Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Friday, in one of his sharpest attacks yet against the Jewish state, which is currently debating whether to attack Iran over its nuclear program.
AFP - Israel is a "cancerous tumour" that will soon be finished off, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Friday told demonstrators holding an annual protest against the existence of the Jewish state.
"The Zionist regime and the Zionists are a cancerous tumour. Even if one cell of them is left in one inch of (Palestinian) land, in the future this story (of Israel's existence) will repeat," he said in a speech in Tehran marking Iran's Quds Day that was broadcast on state television.
"The nations of the region will soon finish off the usurper Zionists in the Palestinian land.... A new Middle East will definitely be formed. With the grace of God and help of the nations, in the new Middle East there will be no trace of the Americans and Zionists," he said.
Iran Steps Up Threats to Rub Out Israel
The main factor behind the upsurge in threats is the Iranian state-sponsored celebration of its annihilation policy towards Israel, which occurs on the fourth and last Friday of Ramadan every year.
The event is called "Al-Quds (Jerusalem) Day," and involves mass rallies, speeches by Iranian leaders, chants of "Death to Israel," and placards bearing the same intent. Last week, Khamenei described Israel as a "cancerous tumor" and "the biggest problem confronting Muslim countries today," according to Iranian media reports.
"Many of the Islamic world's problems come from the existence of the sham Zionist regime," Khamenei added, in comments that are reminiscent of traditional anti-Semitic comments that could be heard everywhere before the Holocaust. . .
Also last week, Brig.- Gen. Gholamreza Jalali, who heads Iran's Passive Civil Defense Organization and is a former commander of the Revolutionary Guards, said there was "no other option but to destroy Israel."
Nuclear weapons have a form of "blow back" all their own due to the intense blast effects. Iran may discover this, as well as other disagreeable forms, if it continues down its present course.
The present circumstances are all the sadder given that Israel and Iran were once allies, until the Islamic revolution in 1979. After that, Iran declared Israel an enemy to be destroyed. The current bad relationship filled with Iran's barely veiled threats of genocide is entirely Iran's choice. Israel did nothing to deserve it.

Re:Torturing ants
WW I was based on the assassination of a single individual.
Not to mention the war for Jenkins's ear, when England went to war because a Spanish captain was accused of cutting off the ear of an English captain something like a decade earlier...
Or the Napoleonic wars, which destroyed several countries in the name of bringing freedom to people living under dictatorships...
Or al-Qaeda's war in Mali, which Europe financed (second source)...
Or the ongoing war against the Jews, which Europe is funding (as is the US)....
Europeans might say that it's not really war if they are paying someone else to fight a war in another country outside of Europe, but that does not explain Europe's support for the war against the Serbs in Yugoslavia, in which NATO helpfully bombed the forces of secular Yugoslavia -- including those of the liberal Muslim co-governor of Bosnia -- on behalf of an alliance of Croatia's Nazi party and a Muslim force organized by Osama bin Laden... and then they did it again in Kosovo, which had been majority-Serb since medieval times and is now down to about 10% Serb due to the war.
Europe is far from innocent, including modern Europe.

Re:Who started it?
Even if we assume that all of Israel's neighbors want to wipe it off the face of the Earth, none of these neighbors currently have nuclear weapons. Israel already has the best military force in the Middle East.
Israel is a country of just under 8 million people on a sliver of land so small that at the shortest point it is only 20 miles across.
There are approximately 1.6 billion Muslims in the world, and they are taught the following according to the traditions of Islam and the sayings of the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH):
"The Day of Judgement will not come about until Muslims fight the Jews , when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Muslims, O Abdullah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him. Only the Gharkad tree, (a certain kind of tree) would not do that because it is one of the trees of the Jews." (related by al-Bukhari and Muslim).Sahih Muslim, 41:6985, see also Sahih Muslim, 41:6981, Sahih Muslim, 41:6982, Sahih Muslim, 41:6983, Sahih Muslim, 41:6984, Sahih al-Bukhari, 4:56:791,(Sahih al-Bukhari, 4:52:177)
”This hadith has been quoted countless times, and it has become a part of the charter of Hamas.[54]
Think about that, approximately 25% of the world's population is taught that at the end of days, all Jews will be, must be killed. And some of them are eager to bring about the end of days, such as the Iranians with their cult of the Hidden Imam. There are Muslims all over the world who will live and die without ever meeting a Jew, yet they will be steadfast in "knowing" Jews are "despicable", and "worthy of death". And don't forget that the "Islamic bomb" already exists, and sits upon Pakistani missiles - Pakistan, the explicitly Islamic nation carved out of India.
In the near term, Israel is surrounded by around 100,000,000 Arabs, many of whom would like to see Israel and the Jews gone. Many of them are oil rich states that can now, as opposed to 1947, afford to buy the best military hardware on the planet - things too expensive for the nations where they were created even.
Just to defend against the 12:1* odds of the Arabs they have to be the best, forever. How realistic is that? Now add in 1.5 billion Muslims from other regions? The odds are decidedly not in Israel's favor. Now add in major shifts in population in the area not favorable to Israel?
There are still Israelis living with direct memories of genocide directed against them, and they know a second is planned. Would you like to trade places?
We haven't even touched on European anti-semitism, which is on the rise again.
* 12:1 is being generous - Israel is only 75% Jewish, and many in Israel are exempt from the draft - both Jews and non-Jews.
