No mention of SQRL Login
I'm a little shocked to see an article on FIDO without even a mention of Steve Gibson's competing Secure Quick Reliable Login.
Although I'm not an expert on this, most reports I've heard is that SQRL, is what FIDO was trying to be.
One key feature of SQRL is that it only does one of Authentication and Authorization, so it can be used for anonymous login, which would be better for many purposes, such as blog comments where you only need to verify that some response belonged to the same author as some other so nobody could impersonate someone else. Though it looks like FIDO may also do this.

HDPI displays are only really necessary on Macs
Windows uses subpixel rendering for fonts (ClearType) to essentially turn a 1920x1080 display into a 5760x1080 display.
One of the primary markets for Macs is page layout artists. When they design a page, they need the letters of a font to show up exactly where they will in the final printout so they can get the kerning right. Image clarity is secondary, since the final printout will be much higher resolution than the screen. Consequently, OS X does not do subpixel rendering of fonts. It anti-aliases them at the pixel level based on their exact location. If it tried to use subpixel rendering, it would have to shift each letter slightly to align with the subpixel grid, which is unacceptable for page layout work. If you ever hook up a Mac and a Windows PC to the same monitor, you'll notice that the Mac's fonts look like crap compared to the PC's. This is why.
The only way OS X could increase font clarity was by moving to high DPI displays. Unless you're working with extremely detailed high-resolution graphics (e.g. photo editing), such displays are unnecessary with Windows, since it basically triples the pixels of your regular monitor when rendering fonts. -

Macs are used heavily in the video and audio production industries. Apple started off catering to artists*, so they work to make sure OS X fully supports color profiles (the Macbook Pro screens are even color-calibrated at the factory). Unlike Windows which still has a color profile bug dating back to Vista (a UAC elevation popup which dims your desktop will dump the current color profile). And OS X is based on Unix so doesn't suffer as many audio dropouts as Windows used to, making it the preferred platform for sound sampling. So Macs tend to be overrepresented in what these people produce - movies, videos, DJing. When a scene calls for a laptop, these people will usually just grab whatever is most easily available, which is usually a Macbook.
Apple also offers its products for free for use in movies. They take em back after, but it helps if your production's prop budget is limited.
If you walk into any other business, 99% of their computers run Windows. That said, OS X has managed to claw above 10% market share in recent years.
* This is also why Macs got high-PPI "retina" screens first. Page layout artists also predominantly use Macs. Subpixel rendering, which basically triples the horizontal resolution without requiring new hardware, was introduced with Windows XP (ClearType). So Windows didn't need high-PPI to produce high-quality fonts. But subpixel rendering requires you to align the fonts to the subpixel grid. That's unacceptable for page layout work, where having the font appear where it'll actually appear when printed is more important than how sharp it looks on the screen. Consequently, OS X didn't use subpixel rendering (If you plugged a 1024x768 or 1280x800 monitor into a Windows PC, then a Mac, the Windows PC was noticeably sharper). OS X fonts are blurrier, but they're placed more accurately for page layout artists. The only recourse Apple had was to sharpen fonts was to switch to high-PPI displays. -

The problem is there are three ways to tweak the DPI. Compatibility Mode, which can be set on a per-app basis. Display scaling, which is set via the Windows desktop and affects everything. And Advanced Scaling which Microsoft introduced with the Spring Creators Update, which I haven't figured out exactly how it's different from the regular Display Scaling.
Under the hood, there's also ClearType which runs on top of DPI scaling, and does subpixel rendering (using the individual red, green, and blue subpixels to sharpen fonts). So there's a lot of places other than Compatibility Mode where something could go wrong to cause blurry fonts. My bet would actually be on the new Advanced Scaling options which were added - they're probably doing something which couldn't happen before with Display Scaling was your only option, and which only crops up if you have those two tweaked a certain way. -

BUT - the most important work is still on the developer to ensure that their app runs great on iPhone, iPad and Mac and has a cohesive UI that scales and takes advantages of the different technologies
Scaling is a big problem for iOS. When Apple made the Mac, they Did It Right. Both MacOS and OS X are DPI-aware (dots per inch). When you plug a monitor into the Mac, it queries the monitor for the model, looks it up in a database to determine the screen size Then it takes the display resolution, divides it by the screen size to calculate a PPI (pixels per inch). Then scales the UI elements appropriately. Apple originally had to develop this for their Postscript laser printer way back in the 1980s. They integrated it into the Mac so when page layout artists were working on a Mac, an 11 point font on the screen was exactly the same physical size as when it was printed out.
That's why the Macs had no problem with switching to the high-PPI Retina displays, while Windows still has lots of problems with 3k and 4k screens. Windows isn't aware of your screen's size and DPI, OS X is. Microsoft fixed this with Windows 8, so the system fonts, icons, and menus scale (based on a % you set, not on the screen's physical size). But apps which don't use the system fonts and menus don't benefit from this. That's why the UI in Adobe's apps are microscopic when you run them on Windows on a 4k screen. Adobe eschewed Windows' built-in menu system to build their own (probably so they could implement tear-off menu bars). That's why when you try to run an older Windows app with any scaling other than 100%, the fonts look blurry - Windows is simply rescaling the bitmap of the font, instead of substituting a correctly-scaled font which takes advantage of subpixel rendering.
Then Apple made probably their biggest blunder with iOS. They ditched this tremendously successful DPI-aware model, and made iOS dependent on a fixed resolution and screen size. Apparently Steve drank too much of his own kool-aid and decided since 3.5" with a 4:3 aspect ratio was the "perfect" screen size and There Would Never Be any other screen size, iOS didn't need to be DPI-aware. That's why they stuck with the original 3.5" screen for so long, why when they did increase the resolution they did it by doubling the DPI, and when they increased the screen size they initially did it by stretching the screen (adding more to the top/bottom). Because that was the only way to do it without breaking the UI of older apps. This is most apparent in the iPad Mini - it uses the same resolution as the iPad, but on a smaller screen. Resulting in everything it displays being smaller than on a regular iPad. They could add scaling to iOS now, but it would be like the situation with Windows and every app in the App Store would need to be re-written to be DPI-aware.
Ironically, Android is DPI-aware. Google didn't know the sizes of the Android devices manufacturers would make, so they had to make Android DPI-aware. A lot of Android apps ignore it, but the setting is in there. When properly used, the icons and fonts on Android are the same size whether you run the app on a phone or a tablet. And unlike the Mac where it's fixed depending on your monitor size, you can override it in Android. When I got a tablet for my elderly parents, I rooted it and set the DPI as if the screen size were 33% smaller than it really was. That had the effect of automatically making all of Android's icons and fonts 1.5x bigger, which really helped my parents use the tablet. -

It's a personal preference
Saying I use Windows firewall cause it's as good as the rest, is a real common phrase. While they are unaware or forget anyone holding a certificate issued by Microsoft can pass through as if it didn't exist.
Finding the the best AV (which is all that's needed) can't really be done anymore. I used VX.Heavens http://preview.tinyurl.com/ybk... (long gone) and found at the time NOD32 (Eset) did around 85% and the best. The test was to download, open, and move the zip file contents elsewhere, and which did what when.
All that's available to use now is use the EICAR test file https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/... that all AV's are capable of finding (it's hardcoded).
I long ago quit using an AV and put all my trust in a good hosts file, reliable Firewall (old version of Comodo), and to use autoruns on occasion to find the ones that might of been missed (one's running from the temp directory) https://docs.microsoft.com/en-...
If one installs Comodo anymore, autoruns can also disable all of the Geek Squad crap. But Comodo fails the leaktext https://www.grc.com/lt/leaktes... (12 year old test) and not recommended. - Creates a virtual process but it still connects.
All that to say; your on your own - it's a personal preference.
