Re:Sorry guys, but...
Funniest part is that some people have actually made such programs in VB as a form of parody. This is probably my favorite.

Fuel vs Food
More than anything, this cartoon puts me off the whole ethanol idea. It still creeps me out seeing it again now.

Re:What format?
However, I can't find any free software that can specifically work with epub.
There are at least two. Adobe Digital Editions which is reputed to be a pretty thorough implementation of the
.epub standard by a lot of people who wrote .epub creation tutorials, though I haven't tried it myself. And FBReader which is an open source multi platform program that is well suited for portable devices like the Illiad, smartphones, Nokia Internet tablets (770, 800, 810 tc.), and android, but also runs in Windows, and Linux. Its implementation is not perfect, but the books look just fine and will pull the author & title information from the .epub for you so you don't have to do it manually when adding the book to your library.Personally, I use FBReader on my N810. I have it configured to look roughly like this (red on black preserves night vision and doesn't leave nearly the afterimage that black on white or white on black does when reading in bed at night) though there's no toolbar in fullscreen mode. Here are some screenshots on other platforms.
The benefits are its an open standard and you can fairly easily create your own
.epub books that follow the standard. -
Re:Vertical tab tree
I find that on my widescreen monitor this works fantasticall well, particularly since I rarely maximize Firefox. I'd really like to see this implemented as a core feature, since theme support for vertical tabs is so iffy right now.
I find the occasion to have many tabs open quite often.I find that in environments like forums it's more efficient to open all the unread threads in tabs, rather than viewing each one and hitting Back. it allows all of them to load at the same time, so it actually is faster.

Stability is everything and Vista ain't stable
I've been using Vista for over a year (had to, didn't want to). I never had a Blue Screen Of Death from Windows XP. But I see plenty of these from Vista:
http://img216.imageshack.us/my.php?image=mwvistabluescreen.jpgAlthough I consider some features of Vista an improvement over XP, if I can't rely on Vista every day, it isn't worth a plug nickel.

Re:I have to say I just dont get Manga
Of course this never happens in western comics at all, it's a uniquely Japanese phenomenon not found in comics produced
by such reputable companies as Marvel, DC and the like.I could go on... in fact, I could probably just make every letter a link and it'd still work.

Re:The New Realignment
The media loves sucking Evangelical cock. It's insatiable.
Fixed that for you. Time, Newsweek, US New & World Report, all have a dozen covers a year sucking up to Christians, TV networks regularly feature guests like Bill Bennett and Bill Donohue and major papers have sections devoted to faith.
There's a nice little pie chart demonstrating the WATB nature of the Christian persecution complex.
Take California's proposition for homosexual marriages. That wasn't defeated by the religious-right. It was defeated by the black caucus.
Um, Prop 8 wasn't about allowing gay marriage, but banning it. And yes it was a sad irony that so many blacks voted to deny others a right they themselves were denied in the past.

Look at the edges of the characters. You can see that in the second shot it looks a lot smoother, without the jagged edges.
Personally I prefer to use higher resolutions before turning on AA, but if I have enough power to burn for the particular game then I'll enable AA for that little extra detail.

Re:didn't deliver the goods?
Barely out of R&D? On the contrary, the F-35 has been under development since 2001, and it's had multiple test flights since 2006.
It's expected to be rolled out in 2 years. As for it's not delivering, I seem to remember hearing of a study by RAND which raised concerns over its effectiveness in fighting multiple Russian craft.
You can read about it here :

Re:Electric Cabs
I was living in Murray Hill on 33rd Street & 3rd Ave (yes, "toidy toid n' toid!"). Here's a picture I took from my friend's balcony that day. The cars were in this exact position for HOURS. Look at the poor sap caught on 32nd in the middle of 3rd avenue - it's actually why I took this picture. No traffic lights forced average citizens to direct traffic themselves, as you can see. They were pretty unsuccessful, and they gave up after 5 minutes and a new sap would try (I mean, where were the cars supposed to go?). We watched this for a while. And as you can see in the picture - across the street, on 3rd ave, the grocery store witht he blue awning (Grestedes) and the deli (dont remember the name) were just giving out ice cream and slicing up meat sandwiches for anyone who wants.
I agree with the other poster. Central Park, while beautiful, is not a residential spot. Incidentally, I went to Central Park that day too (no power and I lived on the 23rd floor and that first pic was from my friend on the 14th floor). Here's a picture from that day. I took it specifically because I remembered how pretty it was, and how it looked identical to any other day in Central Park, powered or not. Do you see yourself? -

Re:Why would you be digging?
I've lived in both NYC and Tokyo.
I don't remember telephone poles in NYC, but they're everywhere in Tokyo.
You can see them clearly in this picture outside of my Tokyo apartment.
But the price difference probably has a lot more to do with what this guy said. -

Re:Oh, look, fanboy whining
That's a good testimonial. Unfortunately, there are not enough like it to convince anyone.
If you don't like anecdotes, there are always reliability ratings.
Also, plenty of people find what they need to be satisfied in a minimal OS like Windows.
Um, Rip van Winkle, the current version of Windows uses 10 gigabytes of hard drive space. How is that "minimal"?

Oh, look, a whiner whining about whining
...who then goes on to whine some more about his lemon Macbook. Yawn. Apple has the best quality rating of any computer manufacturer, so good luck on never having problems with another brand.

Re:Doesn't Make Economic Sense
I'm sorry, its 41, not 42. Click on the "Green" tab. There are a few different engines, the numbers you have are for the 2.5 liter 4 cylinder. There is a hybrid engine and a six cylinder engine too. Just scroll down a bit. There is actually a lot of info on the website, but it's silly because you have to click through a ton of menus to get to it. Completely unrelated, but it says that the hybrid system for the 2010 Fusion is an "Atkinson Cycle". Does anyone know what this is? http://www.fordvehicles.com/cars/fusion/ http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/9712/72418797.jpg

Re:oh god, please no.
A while before mine fully shat itself I got this: http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/9207/distortion.png
I was surprised after I restarted that it still took a proper screenshot despite being messed up, but if that's the sort of distortion you get, its probably an early sign of bad things to come.
The last time my MBP worked before it totally crapped out I was playing a game and it got extremely laggy (like 2-3 fps), and because that sort of lag was not normal in my playing, I tried restarting the computer to see if something had gotten borked randomly. The computer would boot fine, but the screen wouldn't "start". Your unit is probably not 100% poopy, but somehow halfway broke, which gives you occasional distortion and poor performance rather than a completely dead card.
I would recommend you back up whatever you've got and call up Apple support and explain the distortion and poor graphics performance you've been getting. I went to a store but the tech there thought it was something else, the cost of which to repair (when you factor in both parts and labor + taxes) would have been as much as a refurbished model of what I had. However, the Apple phone support person suggested that it was the problem in the support document I posted earlier right off the bat. The repair is free as long as your within two years of buying your computer, so since you noted your computer is around 1.5 years old earlier in the thread, it would probably be best for you to get that repaired soon.

Truly, does nobody use the Stop button?
From TFA, on Google Chrome:
All the navigation tabs -- Back, Forward, Refresh, and Home -- sit to the left of the Address bar.
All the navigation tabs-- except STOP! No other browser puts Stop and Reload on opposite sides of the screen like Chrome does. Unfortunately, Ben (Goodger?) always WontFixes bug reports on the issue. At this rate, the only hope is for someone to create a Stop-button extension, once that becomes possible.
In the meantime, is it true that nobody uses Stop nowadays, and thus don't care?

Re:ACID3
So what if it's not a button?
It's perfectly accessible. -

BSD has zsh
Bash is GPL, which is not compatible with the BSD license. The standard response is to use zsh, which is more powerful than bash, insanely featureful, and BSD-licensed. I'm not a BSD user, but zsh is now my shell of choice. These days, the differences are so minor that it doesn't matter. The only big-deal feature in zsh but not bash that I can think of is RPROMPT and maybe the better completion. (See the screenshot of my power-tweaked zsh shell.)
I was under the impression the BSDs used zsh as the default shell. Maybe that's NetBSD?
