I can also highly recommend Koirankynnenleikkaaja (Dog Nail Clipper (English title)), it is by far the best finnish movie ever made in my opinion.

It was my first time I have cried in a cinema when I saw it. (And before someone who thinks he's being funny, suggests that I cried because it was so bad, that wasn't the case.)

I regret to inform you that you are incorrect. The ice bullet episode had nothing to do with the Kennedy assasination, and I think was based on a scene from the movie Most Wanted. Back in 1972 there was a French movie called "Un Grand Blond Avec Une Chaussure Noire" (The Tall Blond Man With One Black Shoe). In the movie, the chief of French secret service lays a trap for his rival - he convinces him that a particular man is a dangerous and cunning secret agent that is planning to expose the rival's dirty secrets. This rival then goes crazy trying to investigate this "agent". The truth is that the man is, in fact, what he appears to be - a clumsy orchestra player. The movie is summed up with these lines:

"...because when looked at closely enough, every man's life is suspicious".

Individually, any of these systems may appear to do good things in individual cases. And the arguments for them always center around certain immediate benefits without considering the wider picture. The bigger truth is that such systems lead to a society full of anxiety, fear, and guilt, with arbitrary and random enforcement of the rules. There's a word for such conditions - the word is "despotism".

Yeah right. And next you're going to tell me is that the science behind Quincy is bogus. The show that was responsible for warning us Westerners about possible death from Ninjas applying the technique of Dim Mak.

(Incidentally, Chelsea Girls is over 6 hours of footage, but since it is shown on two projectors simultaneously it takes only 3 1/2 hours to watch. And it's much more entertaining than Empire and Sleep.)

Fassbinder's Berlin Alexanderplatz was originally shown in the US as a 16-hour feature (screened in 2 eight-hour sessions), and received critical acclaim in that form. However, it has generally been shown in installments since then. It was originally a 14 (?) episode TV mini-series in Germany.

I've not seen The Longest and Most Meaningless Movie in the World , but it seems no different than running your screensaver all weekend.

I remember sitting thru Chantel Ackerman's films je, tu, il, elle (having not gotten much sleep the night before) and Jeanne Dielman , and both seemed to last all day. Turns out they run 90 and 200 minutes, respectively. That said, if you want to see what it's like to spend an entire day with a movie character, these are like that.
