Re:Why bother?
Look it up, stupid. First e without, second e with accent is listed as an accepted spelling. It's also the only valid one since the word "resume" in any spelling is slang in French - it's franglais. There are more than 3 accents in French. Or did you not learn to count yet? Obviously you don't know how to write it (or at least write it properly), or you would have known that.
As for entering accents on an iPad, it's just a bit more complicated than entering them on an Android device. After the welcome screen, it will load the appropriate results - #1 is the one you want.
Now, WTF am I doing having to teach this "genius" how to use an iPad??? Simple - it's my good deed for the day. And you can't really expect too much from Apple fanbois.

Re:"Professionals"
Nah, if you need help they're programmed to tell you to just f*cking google it. Or RTFM.

Re:ADNA - another dumb, new acronym
At least make TFS standalone.
Team Foundation Server is standalone. It hasn't been bundled with Visual Studio since the 2010 version.
Or maybe you could just use a little context and fucking Google it. Because I figured out that you didn't mean Team Foundation Server in about 0.00001 seconds, and I doubt you're incapable of doing the same for "IoT", which is a term that has been plastered all over various bullshit tech sites for the last couple of years. And if that still doesn't work for you, JFGI.

ahhahahahaha
Especially more competent than my linking skills.
I didn't think a spurious space at the beginning of a URL would be that bad, who knew. I mean, before the protocol even.

Re:What?
For those of you wondering, google is a search engine. It lets you get answers to questions like What the fsck is a Buss Duct?" If you want to be a Karma Whore, you can then pop back here to Slashdot and post what you found, and cross your fingers in hopes that some idiots who don't know what Google is will mod it as "Interesting" or "Informative".

Re: learn2English
It's like google, but for cellphones.

Re:I don't even know what you're talking about
The article also mentions something called "HD" but nowhere in the article does it say what "HD" means! If you don't know what Cyanogenmod is and also don't know how to do this then you aren't their target audience.

Here is the link that you want. You're very welcome.
While you're at it, you might want to also consult a dictionary on the meaning of the words "relatively minor," since you apparently did not understand them.

Re:Interesting but wrong
Well, it is perfectly understandable. People who write [citation required] are the second lowest form of Slashdot Scum, with the first being those that post the same ridiculous drivel as an AC. The best response is to send them to the correct citation, of course
;-)Let those who would mod intelligent responses to inane posts as flamebait choke on that! Cheers!

Re:U.S. prison system is flawed
Are you serious? This is painfully trivial to find with Google Scholar.
Education or punishment? Reformatory schools in Norway, 18401950 Education or punishment? Reformatory schools in Norway, 18401950
Daddy in Prison: An Evaluation (Norwegian)
The prison reform movement: Forlorn hope
People's Justice - A Major Poll of Public Attitudes on Crime and Punishment
Wilful Obstruction - The Frustration of Prison Reform
Reaffirming Rehabilitation
On top of that you have the highly conservative Daily Mail, as the grandparent poster linked, stating unabashedly that the system on Bastoy has proven itself as being more effective than Norwegian closed (traditional) prisons, which is a position that is quite controversial for the newspaper and not at all towing the party line. That may not have the integrity of a longitudinal study conducted by unbiased researchers, but the tour escort is quoted as saying that there has only been one attempted escape in all of Bastoy's years of operation, and that the region has the lowest re-offending rate in all of Europe despite Norway's absence of a death penalty or life sentence. These are not light claims.
Next time please RTFA and JFGI.

Re:There are a lot of issues
I was given a Blackberry a few years back when working as a subcontractor for a company that required them.
I wanted to set up a couple of alarms on it. It could set exactly *one* alarm. Want more, tough crap.
Or, you could read a bit. Why don't you try www.justfuckinggoogleit.com?
You can have millions of events on your blackberry calendar. Those events can be recurring or non-recurring. Every one of those events can have an alarm.

Re:Using TOR?
There's this awesome site called Google, that actually lets people search for things they are looking for, all by themselves. It's a crazy concept, I know, but it might be worth a try.

Re:Haven't heard of this one
Up until recently the memristor was a theoretical fundamental circuit element (like resistor, capacitor and inductor - but the are easy to create in the real world). A few years ago they were actually created and there is a lot of interesting things you can do with the technology
For more info see The mysterious memristor
Or just search Google memristor ieee
Dude, people who can take 5 seconds to Google something that's really easy to find wouldn't be asking dumbass questions on Slashdot.
Better to point them to something like Just Fucking Google It. Like the author of that site says, "the popularity of this site just blows my mind". There are a lot of lazy helpless people. They're sort of like trolls -- don't feed them. If you feed them by typing obvious keywords into well-known search engines for them, it only encourages them. -
Err, wait...
I read through your old comments, just to see where the "debunking" was.
You... linked to Groklaw. There's not much debunking. Almost everything else you said was some kind of insult. Or it told him to read the article, even though he wrote long replies that you avoided addressing any of the issues raised by. You never actually understood his argument. He's talking about the patents and so you say that the copyrights are the real problem. Then he tells you there's more than one problem (i.e. both of them create legal issues) and then you talk past him for many, many posts, because you never want to address whatever he's talking about.
But after all your talk about "insubstantiated" arguments, your only source cited that I could find was a Groklaw article that he responded to. But maybe my eyes glazed over after the millionth time you wrote "go away" and I missed something. I guess you don't have time to respond fully or something. Except that you clearly have enough time to follow this guy like a stalker. No, seriously, I can look at your comment history and compare it to his pretty easily. It doesn't help to understand your arguments, though, because you always lead people on dead ends, when you bother to cite anything at all.
Why don't we take an example of that dead-ending from this very post for illustration? You say "I guess I should pull up old comments again, where you are clearly the party to this entire scenario."
What's there, exactly? An old SCO story that has no visible connection to Florian Meuller at all. Wait... but there is a "Florian Weimer" there, who posts quite a bit. You do realize that those are DIFFERENT people... right? Hell, Florian itself is a common name. Even Florian Meuller is a common name (not unlike, say, "Pamela Jones"). But I can't find any comments from Florian Meuller over there, let alone a "connection", unless someone mod-bombed them down to -1. So maybe you can help us figure out what this alleged connection is, rather than give us a "go look over here" type of answer because you don't have time to explain what we're even looking for.
As far as I can tell, you're just some guy who stalks Florian Meuller (and possibly anyone else named Florian) on Slashdot and tells them to go away endlessly. No, seriously. Do you have ANY idea how many times you've posted the words 'go away'?
Incidentally, I've made my arguments elsewhere in this story, such as here. I thought I wouldn't leave you guessing where to find the substance.

Re:What does this mean:
I will nurse my bruised ego and you will go back to 4 chan and flame other 14 year olds.
"Other" 14 year olds would mean that you yourself who I have flamed are also 14. I know, it's so tough, like correctly using they're/their/there and loose/lose and were/where but "other" has a specific meaning, you know. If you are unclear on that meaning maybe you can just fucking Google it.

Re:Adobe also said...
Are you some sort of flash fanboi!? Flash sucks, and Adobe smells
-
Yes and no.
I'd like to draw a hard distinction here between cases where someone is actually being an asshole (see some of the other responses), and cases where you're wasting someone's time because you couldn't figure out how to just fucking Google it.
I try to be a bit more helpful and offer to Google it for them, but seriously, there are a lot of questions by people who need to follow this flowchart before asking questions.
The attitude comes, I think, from the fact that this is an ongoing problem. There are enough real questions and real problems, and enough real work to be done, that it's infuriating to see dozens of people asking the exact same questions (which are right there in the FAQ)...
Eventually, you end up with a situation where, consciously or not, the community has learned that it's more productive to be antisocial and drive away a few good people (and hopefully get a few people who learn to ask better questions) so we can get things done, than to have to deal with the unwashed masses.
I'm trying not to be elitist here -- again, I present it moderately gently, and I do try to offer an actual response. However, keep in mind that this is not the help desk, but a community. Meet us halfway, and we're generally quite helpful and friendly, though there are obvious exceptions. But if you're not willing to do your homework, don't expect us to go out of our way, either -- in that case, you're the one being rude.

Re:Easy solution
Maybe Google even sent them a link.

Re:Maybe people choose randomly?
"I guess most people don't care, and select one of the browser at random" Spot on. Most people do not even know what browser they are using or what a browser even is. They are given a choice, and they just choose without really knowing what it is that they are choosing from.
The good thing about that is that when you talk about Web browser choice, the people involved all have 'Net connections. So that's ok. There's a site they can use to learn all about the various browsers.
"Heavens no, someone might have to think! It might take them a whole few minutes too!"
The ignorance is probably a chicken-and-egg problem. Average users don't bother to learn anything because they hate learning and won't do it unless it solves some immediate problem they have, and even then they do it only begrudgingly after first trying to get someone else to do it for them. So give them an immediate problem like choosing a browser and they have an incentive. If they're confused and don't like being confused, they can use the link I gave above to sort out their confusion. What's wrong with that? -
Re:Let a 50 year old Engineer tell you something
Are you kidding indeed. Did you mean a monitor arm?
What's more baffling is that the monitor stand sales rep didn't point out that they already exist. But then, maybe he didn't want you buying anything from another company.
