Re:Doesn't matter. Won't convince anyone.
The irony of linking to RationalWiki on the topic of fighting self reinforcing echo chambers and conspiracy is really too rich.
Hint: https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Gamergate
Then compare to http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/events/gamergate
And ask yourself why a meme site is more capable of representing different sides.Wait. What different sides is the knowyourmeme page presenting? It appears to be relentless pro-Gamergate page where every criticism of Gamergate is neatly answered and every critic is shot down effortlessly (Which should be a clue that it's biased). Basically it takes everything that Gamergaters claim about themselves at face value even when their words and actions do not match their claims. On the other hand, the Rational Wiki page is dismissive and certainly biased against Gamergate, but they also appear to be fundamentally accurate and insightful when speaking about the movement.
The biggest thing I took away from my personal experiences with Gamergaters was how much the people in Gamergate were lying to everyone including themselves and each other.

Re:Blue Collar?
America seems to be heading to the place that the UK has been in for some time where class isn't defined by your salary or your job but your education and cultural attitudes.
So went to trade school and have a business you're 'blue collar'. Meanwhile if you went to an expensive liberal arts college and work as a barista you're 'white collar'.
I.e. it's like the UK model where you can be poor but middle class or rich but working class. Class is about attitudes not income. In the US I bet you'd find a massive difference in cultural attitudes between the trade school/small business types and the liberal arts college/Starbucks ones and it's that difference in cultural attitudes that has come to define class.
It's very different from what Brits have seen as the traditional American ideal where it mattered if you were successful much more than whether you went to the right school - blue collar and white collar after all literally mean the job you do, and not your social class. However I think that has changed.
But perhaps Brits have always romanticised America in that way - it's clear if you spend time there that America very much has British style class - someone with an expensive liberal arts degree but a minimum wage job isn't *seen* as being a member of the 99% despite their protestations to the contrary, and probably they never have been.

Re:Gee, that's too bad
I think it's because you want to blur the lines so that your paraphilia seems to be less obviously exploitative and wrong with a view to legalising it.
Look at what you've done in this thread. Backpage was aggressively soliciting business from people who run ads for child prostitutes and you quibbled that that wasn't the same as 'running a child prostitution ring'.
Now you're making the standard pedo apologist quibble that 'ephebophiles are not the same as pedophiles'. Presumably because ephebophiles want to fuck slightly older but still underage age children compared to pedophiles.
All of your comments seem to be ackchyually type quibbles designed to blur line between people who have sex with adults and people who have sex with minors.
Having sex with anyone under the age of consent is wrong and illegal. It doesn't matter whether they're 1 year under the AOC or 5 years. And running ads for child prostitutes is wrong and should be illegal. Even sites like the Pirate Bay and 4chan don't allow child porn. The idea that you should be able to run ads for child prostitutes and then claim CDA Section 230 'safe harbour' protection is bonkers. And it's even more bonkers to say that any attempt to stop this being possible is an assault on the 1st Amendment - there's no prior restraint here.
It's also worth pointing out that the bill in question which removed CDA Section 230 protections from people running enabling sex trafficking ads had broad bipartisan support. And it happened explicitly because Backpage was enabling sex trafficking and even child sex trafficking.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...
The Stop Enabling Sex Traffickers Act (SESTA) is a United States bill introduced by Senator Rob Portman. It seeks to clarify the country's sex trafficking law to make it illegal to knowingly assist, facilitate, or support sex trafficking, and amend the Section 230 safe harbors of the Communications Decency Act (which make online services immune from civil liability for the actions of their users) to exclude enforcement of federal or state sex trafficking laws from its immunity. Portman had previously led an investigation into the online classifieds service Backpage (which had been accused of facilitating child sex trafficking), and argued that Section 230 was protecting its "unscrupulous business practices" and was not designed to provide immunity to websites that facilitate sex trafficking.
SESTA has received bipartisan support from U.S. senators, the Internet Association, as well as companies such as 21st Century Fox and Oracle, who supported the bill's goal to encourage proactive action against illegal sex trafficking. SESTA has been incorporated into the House version of the bill and is now known as the FOSTA-SESTA package.
On February 27, 2018, the SESTA-FOSTA package was passed in the House of Representatives with a vote of 388-25.

Re:I turned 18 in Seattle in 1982...
This oft-repeated notion that "men are afraid of successful/rich/strong women" is getting really old. The truth is that a large number of the women that feel the need to broadcast those attributes loudly turn out to be shitty people. It's not that he's afraid of her success, it's that she's an asshole. The problem is that these "rich successful women" spent all their time on their status and none of their time on learning to build genuine caring relationships with other human beings, but they'll be damned if it's any fault of theirs. "I gotta blame somebody, otherwise it's my fault. Fuck that.
Now that that retardation is out...maybe you should stop casting large numbers of males you know nothing about into bullshit stereotypes. You must be loads of fun at parties. -

Peter and Elsa videos
"ElsaGate" is a name used by a group of watchdogs on Reddit for an apparently Russian live-action video series that (mis)appropriates characters owned by Disney. In this series, Peter Parker from Spider-Man and Elsa Agnarrsdaughter from Frozen live together and go on adventures that aren't always family-friendly. The videos are "silent" in the sense of having no dialogue, and some are violent or mildly sexual in nature.

Re:Who's really responsible for the events "succes
Was there some "bait and switch" thing going on here?
The goal is to cause chaos. The bait-and-switch approach is that you take advantage of a shocking event (mass shooting, disaster, etc) and let loose your army of bots to organize protests with 100,000 followers on one side, and an opposing event with 100,000 followers on the other side.
If nothing happens, meh, it cost you nothing except paying some guys in St. Petersburg to shitpost. Try again after the next shocking event.
If you get lucky, you get 500 protestors on one side of the street, and 500 counterprotestors on the other side of the street, and they start throwing insults, bricks, and molotovs at each other.
Then you sit back and enjoy the chaos you've created -- not just the localized disruption of the riot but the fact that everybody you lured into a riot leaves with hardened feelings against their opposition.
Lather, rinse, repeat. More chaos, more violence, and maybe you get really lucky and kick off a civil war. Your greatest geopolitical adversary basically punches itself in the face and off the global stage while you sit back and way "Stop hitting yourself! Stop hitting yourself!"
Look upthread -- notice that some of the ACs are vehemently supporting one side of the story, and some of them are just as vehemently supporting the other side. Maybe only a few of them are actual information warfare guys. But it only takes a few to get the rest of the ACs (sincere readers with partisan opinions) to tear at each other's throats.
Basically, they're doing this in real life: http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/trollbait-nobody-is-right
And they're going to keep on doing it as long as it continues to work.

Re:Whatever happened to Occupy Wall Street
Thanks for a link that backs up my point:
Zuccotti Park wasn't the protesters' original destination. The organizers first tweeted plans to gather at Wall Street's iconic Charging Bull Statue and at 1 Chase Plaza. But the New York Police Department got wind of that and barricaded both locations, which are city-owned parks that require protests to have permits.
And you do know OWS was a nationwide protest movement, yes? Case in point, the pepper spraying pig meme after the assault on protesters on UC Davis.

Re:Video?
What's annoying about videos is the wadsworth constant where the first 30% of a video is not worth watching because it contains nothing relevant to why you are watching the video in the first place. It's waffle about their other videos and pleas to subscribe etc. etc. You used to be able to add &wadsworth=1 to a youtube url, but the last time I tried it didn't work anymore.
The other reason I prefer reading to watching someone with a lisp trying to explain something, is that I read WAY faster than they can talk (without sounding like Mickey Mouse) so if I am skimming a wall of text scanning for something it's faster and I don't waste 10~15 minutes of my life before realizing the video does not have the information I am looking for.
The annoying part is everyone wants to be a youtube star, so more and more I have to sit through some twat waffling about his cat. -

Re:Drawing more attention to Pepe
The only people that want pepe dead are those on the left who continue to push that a meme from 2008 is a "hate symbol." FYI that's fake news.
The left made careless accusations of "white nationalism", fabricating a "movement" based on unsubstantiatied claims made by two random guys. These sorts of false accusations harm the lives of innocent people such as Matt Furie. But I don't understand the following: Why doesn't the conservative establishment fight back?
Why doesn't FOX News try to dispell the left's fake news? Why don't prominent conservative individuals call out the unsubstantiatied claims? Why is the Daily Caller the only organization that's covering this story? Why do the conservatives seem so willing to let the left make insane accusations and harm people like Matt Furie?

And said bullshit of it being a hate symbol was nothing but a troll by an individual to screw with the absolute lack of fact checking by the media. It's no different then people trolling the media that the following things are also hate symbols: OK gesture. White milk. The entire American Sign Language, among other things. If anything people have simply had enough and decided to crash the media with no survivors. I wish them the best, and may kek be with them.

Re:kek
Basically, in World of Warcraft when a horde player typed "lol" into chat an alliance player would see "kek" because Blizzard made it so each faction couldn't chat with each other (was kind of fun really).
It evolved from there as it became an inside joke for "lol" or any kind of trolling in general.
The simplest way to understand it: trolls (horde) laughing and normies (alliance) not able to understand it.

Re:Malignant narcissist upset, news at 11.
"What's that got to do with anything ? Statistically YOU are FAR more dangerous than the people you are seeking to keep out."
Statistically there's exactly one instance of me, and I know well how dangerous or safe I am. OTOH, I've faced quite a few transsexuals, who - completely apart from being trans - were raving lunatics, abusive, violent and paranoid. Even towards people sympathetic to them. So, statistically - you're full of shit.

Here's one of the threats in the report, as posted elsewhere in this thread. Can you tell where it loses all credibility?

you than by burning your faces off with high-ordinance explosives?
You can try calling the FBI to come arrest me, but I'm behind 7 proxies and you'll
never be able to backtrace this IP. Can't Iulzback the [redacted]Oh, and I'm also fapping to all of your pictures right now. You‘re hot. It‘s a shame
y0u’re about to get blown up.Sincerely,
[redacted]Over 9000 bombs. GOLLY GEE, that's not an obvious meme or anything. Clearly, we need to call in the national guard immediately. I hear they might be calling in an ex navy seal with over 300 confirmed kills to go after Batwu next. The fiends!
The fact of the matter is these are obvious memes without any credibility. That makes them non-actionable shitposting, at least in the realm of law enforcement. In addition, it matches EXACTLY what GamerGate has been saying all along -- that these were trolls from baphomet, somethingawful, GNAA, kiwi farms, and other chan groups that were jumping in because people like BatWu are absolutely unhinged idiots that react hilariously to trolling.
