Boy howdy, I am sure glad Microsoft is innovating here. I mean right now I could access news and discussions from any computer with a web browser. Now that Microsoft has laid its innovating hand on the problem, I'll only be able to get this from my MS Windows box. Wow, how many biased rantings are found in michael's own submitted article? The story's headlined led us to believe it would be about the anti-spam law. Instead michael jumps into:

1) Calling it the 'anti'-spam (in quotes, of course...because michael doesn't like it.)
2) Adding the line "written largely by the Direct Marketing Association" (to feed michael's extreme anti-business slant)
3) "The bill preempts existing state laws which are tougher (states' rights anyone?)" That's what the federal government does michael...it's been doing it for over almost two hundred years now.
4) My favorite... "so for many citizens, this is purely a pro-spam law." Wow, nice opinion and conjecture...without even having backed it up yet!
5) And to continue the rant, michael throws in one last final attack by mentioning the possibility of bounty hunters possibility.

Thanks michael. Once again you showed a complete lack of professional journalism. But then, we always knew you were heavily biased and slant the facts, since you admitted it yourself. I also find it ironic that you try to portray yourself as a moral spokesman on such matters, when you are unethical, hypocritical, and can't be trusted. At this point, the pretense of a case has almost been lost... SCO's public statements are so twisted and irrational that no lawyer can seem to follow it, and now every time I read a story about SCO, I can't help but think of Gollum... My experience is generally that typical doctors charge about US$10/minute that I actually see them. Your charge is a little high, but not when you consider everything going on.

In case you hadn't noticed, there's a whole phalanx of nurses, receptionists and People to Deal with Insurance Companies. Not to mention overhead like materials, cost of space, phones, etc. Not to mention whatever is lost because of services provided for less than cost (indigent care, etc.) All in all, it's not too different from MyCorp, where an outsider that wants to purchase my time must pay MyCorp about 2.5 times what I make to include all of the overhead (as well as benefits, etc.).

Recently I read where some doctors have actually thrown in the towel and refused to have anything to do with insurance claims processing and the micromanagement that goes with it. They just take cash, check or credit card. It's simpler all around.

The broken U.S. health care system is a very inefficient market in a large number of ways. Eg.

Unfortunately, fixing it requires considerable force because there are several different kinds of organisms making good money based on those inefficiencies.

You have to remember, this is Slashdot, where the editors are very open about their liberal bias. They don't make any attempts to be fair...they flat out have no problem modding down huge threads to -1 and even refusing mod points to those who mod up such -1 threads.
