OK- to recap. The two current torrents listed are ate the (http://thepiratebay.org/details.php?id=3343842), and at http://mininova.org/tor/55573.
However, the Pirate Bay file is offline, either it is fake, or it was nuked by traffic. The MiniNova one is still online, with approximately 5 Seeders and over 700 leechers, with more adding every few minutes. The file size from MiniNova is ~950Mgs.
it will soon become clear whether or not this is real. Please post information regarding the legitamacy of the torrent here.

The nfo says it was released almost a week ago, but the torrent was added just today. I'm skeptical, but downloading it anyway just to see. Plenty of seeders. I guess it's a DVD iso? Perhaps I'll have to go get a DVD burner. There's no way I'm having OS X sitting on my hard drive without being able to install it.

Reminds me of the documentary Bill Moyers produced a few years ago about Joseph Campbell. The title of the doc was called "Joseph Campbell and The Power of Myth." Joey wrote a ton of material about mythology and how it shaped mens minds over the course of history. Fascinating guy, But the third or fourth video in this documentary, Bill Moyers travels the the George Lucas darth-vader ranch in California or where it was. Apparently Lucas was a student of Campbell, or least an avid fan of his writing. Lucas spent a good while talking about the inspiration Campbell provided him.

You should really watch The Power of Nightmares. It pretty much illustrates exactly what you are talking about and why. It also shows how much america OVERREACTED and is still overreacting, to this terrorist "threat".

It basically describes in detail, how the US govt linked al qaeda (sp?) and osama when they had NO PREVIOUS RELATIONSHIP before 9/11. THey pretty much made al qaeda to seem like a crazy network of spies and infiltrators, when in reality, osama had given the hijackers money and then sent them on their way. He basically financed the whole project but is not some kind of genius criminal mastermind that he is made out to be.

The quote above is a bit strange, the decentralised database is totally different from dump sites like SN/LT (now replaced by mininova). However, it's an nice alternative for the BT trackers (which often suffer downtime etc). You still need to get the torrent file from a dump site to start downloading.

So in short: dump sites will stay, trackers will probably become less important.

MiniNova is definitely the best website after the closure of SuprNova. It's SuprNova done right.
TorrentSpy and TorrentReactor are also kinda good.
So no, BitTorrent isn't dead at all. I'd say the community more alive then ever :)

Exeem, well that looks like it is a bit of a failure in my opinion. They have allowed people to rate downloads and attach comments etc. It has become a place to advertise and exeem also contains spyware. Edonkey nostalgia basically..

I doubt that the (MPAA / RIAA)'s efforts will have a lasting effect since suprnova was replaced fairly quickly and I think the replacement is actually better.

...new BitTorrent sites are appearing at the same time others are closing. One of these sites is mininova, which is the follow-up of the well-known SuprNova.
