Re:Bullshit
The concern wasn't that the laptop might hold a bomb. They request you remove the laptop from the bag because it contains a lot of dense complex parts which made it difficult to tell what else was in the bag when they only had a top-down view which forced them to look through the laptop. With a 3D computed tomographic view, they can virtually remove the laptop from the image to see what else is in the bag.
It's also worth pointing out that Pan Am 103 was destroyed by a bomb in a radio that was otherwise fully functional. So turning the laptop on doesn't really accomplish anything, other than more security theater. You could still modify the battery so part of it held enough juice to turn on the laptop for the security check, while the rest of it was replaced with Semtex explosive. -

Amazon appears to be a poorly-managed company.
Amazon appears to me to be a poorly-managed company. Every Amazon web page has the distractions of Amazon trying to sell something else besides the product that interests you.
Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon, seems to have a poorly-managed life. He was having sex with a woman besides his wife. Now his wife gets half of his money, more than $65 billion.
Knowing the sloppiness around Jeff Bezos, would you go into sub-orbital space with Blue Origins, risking your life to be a tourist?
How will Jeff Bezos losing half his money affect Amazon? ... this is going to change the ownership in Amazon. -

At least they're carrying out the overwhelming will of the people. If only Chuck and Nancy would listen to the full electorate - not just those they want to listen to. Perhaps they don't want to be offended by listening to ideas that are incredibly popular and supported by the vast majority but just want to live in their own little echo chambers safely protected by a wall.

Personnel...
It is a well-known fact, that ethnic Chinese abroad spy for China en-masse. Some willingly, some — under coercion.
One immediate step a country could take is to treat them with increased suspicion, which in the US is both against the laws and the morals — targeting expats from a particular country is denounced (and even prosecuted) as "racial profiling" — a trait Chinese society itself does not poses.
Until we overcome this weakness against Chinese — the way we are overcoming it with the Russians, for example, our highest-tech research will remain at risk.

What I'm saying is that 45 could at least bring the tragedy up, tell the people of Paradise that their country will do what they can to help... in times of devastation it is comforting to know that a leader is taking time to at least ACKNOWLEDGE what's going on. He is not, and has not.

Re:posr fsirt
It's called the electoral college, it's pretty ironic that you call out someone else for being dumb. It's how it's always been done, for good reason, and it's not a "loophole". If you can't understand that we are the United STATES of America, and not just "America", as in, one huge monolithic overbearing federal government, then the whole concept of the country is lost on you.
Furthermore, they weren't looking to back any one candidate: Mueller's info shows that the Russians that were indicted were essentially trying to create division and paranoia among the voting public, and thanks to people like you they've been wildly successful. Remember they also put out ANTI-trump ads, and pro BERNIE ads as well. And lest we forget, the DNC did their part to push Trump as a republican nominee.

Re:This is part of the war on Vaping
there seem tone a lot of people who have decided vaping is really bad, and are trying to kill it
Ever heard of the cigarette industry?
Ever heard of the Democratic Party?
They've actually created laws and regulations that threaten to bankrupt the vaping industry. Turns out they're working with the healthcare industry, who relies on Obamacare-backed smoking cessation drugs, to diminish or destroy the vaping market. Please see the article linked below.
Hot Air: Democrats Work With Big Tobacco and Big Pharma to Choke the Vaping Industry
Big tobacco likes this too, as the vaping industry is a big competitor. However, they don't have the power to create laws and regulations, like the Democratic Party.
This is Democrats in a nutshell. They tell you they need to take your freedoms away for your own good, when they're really just serving the interests of their benefactors. And, here, I thought Democrats were for the little guy. Guess not . . .

Re:Intellectual secrets?
For better or worse, that readiness to devastate the attacker has never been tested. Worse, the very concept is being chipped away by movies and other art, which mocks it, and glorifies dissenters, leakers, and outright traitors, who either refuse to follow orders, or subtly sabotage them out of concern for collateral damage.
If/when push comes to shove one day, some officers may decide to not push the button. Something like this for example: "Our firing back now will not protect those already doomed to die in Guam. Why kill millions of innocent on their side?" See? It is so convincing...
Especially, if the base is not tightly run, and/or he has a cute Chinese wife/girlfriend and is well-versed in the rich and enlightening Chinese culture.

Re:Who's coordinating this?
You one of those crazy coincidence theorists? I mean, I thought it was an outrageous lie that the Democrats rigged their primaries to prevent Bernie Sanders from winning. Turns out, it was true. I thought it was crazy that the media was running stories past the Democrats for approval before publication. That was true too.

Re:Breaking the law.
I don't know what "rape" means in the US (there are some weird sex laws there), but in the UK what he was accused of is probably not even illegal.
Sofia Wilen was upset that he did not use a condom, and got angry only after finding out he had slept with Anna Ardin.
http://observer.com/2016/02/ex...
Neither woman ever claimed, initially, that she was “raped” by Mr. Assange—rape being våldtäkt in Swedish, but both spoke of the sex being unpleasant. They both concealed their distaste for how it had transpired—that’s usually what women do. In the case of Ms. Ardin, she kept him as a houseguest for six nights after the incident, and even threw a crayfish party for him. In the case of Ms. Wilen, she and Mr. Assange, after a night of sex, joked about the broken condom, and his promise that if she got pregnant he would move to Sweden, pay off her student loans, and they “could name the baby Afghanistan.”

Re:The U.S. needs a healthy government.
Does anybody else find it fucking hilarious when the left claims "But but but Trump is corrupt!" while Shillary was allowed to literally buy the DNC which in turn allowed her to buy the superdelegates which made the democratic primary about as fair as a game of three card monty run by a street hustler in a NYC back alley?
Say what you want but at least people in the Rep primaries had a CHOICE and chose to vote for Trump, we now know that 100% of the people could have voted for Bernie and he still would have lost, the entire Dem primary was as fixed as pro wrestling before the first vote was even cast.

Re: Blaming Obama?
Oh here we are. Are you the pro-russian troll, or the teabagger obsessed with the Clintons? It has become so hard to tell these days.
See that ID? Yeah. So what are you? A paid shareblue poster trying to cover up for the Clintons. Maybe you can explain why when Clinton lost the election that the international arm of the clinton foundation shut down almost right away as the donation stream abruptly stopped. Would you like to explain why when people wanted to talk with the Obama administration they'd be stonewalled, then suddenly when they made large contributions to it they had access. And they used it to directly gain access to special favors at the state department.
Why talk about the topic at hand when we can talk about a completely different topic?
Maybe you should ask the parent poster.
It's getting old and us moderates are tired of the idiots on both sides. Before you go there (I know you will), no, I ddidnt vote for the candidate you likely call Killary.
If you're an actual moderate, then you wouldn't be lashing out when someone points out that she was the worse candidate and likely the one that would have caused another world war. You were the one who said that not me.

Re:Curious about the history with this guy
I'm a bit curious as to this guy's history given the technology used to find him. Seems like a questionable use of resources to nab a busboy. Given that they didn't tell us why he was deported the previous two times I'm curious if they used it simply because he simply was two-time deportee that keeps coming back, or if he had any history of criminal activity involved in any of his deportation orders.
This says he was first apprehended in 2005, but wasn't deported (the first time) until 2012. Possibly when he was first snagged he was released with an order to appear for a hearing, and then skipped the hearing; this is fairly common with the "catch and release" protocol that's been in use for some time. But that's just a guess.
When you say, "I'm curious if they used it simply because he simply was two-time deportee that keeps coming back, or if he had any history of criminal activity involved in any of his deportation orders," are you taking the position that the crime of illegal entry doesn't count as illegal activity?
The first time a person is caught for illegal entry, it's a federal misdemeanor. If the person is deported and re-enters illegally it's a federal felony, and that usually results in immediate deportation, which happened in 2014. He re-entered illegally again, and DHS caught him because of his involvement in a hit-and-run incident, and that's when the Stingray was used. So no, he wasn't deported for taking a citizen's busboy job.

Re:What do you mean?
Just think of what would have happened with Hillary being elected. You'd see more things like this happening. Maybe you should be very glad that Trump was elected, instead of the other candidate that broke laws at every turn, pressured and threatened leaders of other countries to donate to her foundation. Spied on allies, and suddenly...just suddenly when she lost...the clinton global initiative shutdown, said organization took international kickbacks and offered access to government officials through "donations."
It wasn't that Clinton was terrible, that the democrats were corrupt, that they rigged their own primary, that they sank their own ship. That even with rigging at least one debate via Donna Brazile leaking questions to Clinton, that she still couldn't win. That they decided in to say "screw it" with an internal review of where it all went wrong. Then voted in someone who is even worse then Clinton as the head of the DNC. Nope, it wasn't her fault at all. And just keep digging, because the bullshit you're spouting will guarantee Trump a second term. Just like the Liberal Party of Ontario's actions will ensure that by July of next year it won't be a party at all.

Clinton Foundation a scam
Do you have actual complaints about how The Clinton Foundation spends donations
Clinton Foundation was an influence-peddling scam. It was receiving money, when Clinton was a Secretary of State and seemed a shoe-in to become President. It closed down its international wing after she lost the elections.
Had it been really a charitable organization, it would have instead flourished, when the proprietors finally left the distractions of politics and could concentrate on the sincere charity work. But no, the most charitable thing you can say about this charity is that it is "at crossroads" now that they have no influence left to peddle.

"The problem is especially acute at NSA, current and former officials said, due to a reorganization known as NSA21 that began last year and aims to merge the agency's electronic eavesdropping and domestic cyber-security operations. The two-year overhaul includes expanding parts of NSA that deal with business management and human resources and putting them on par with research and engineering. The aim is to "ensure that we're using all of our resources to maximum effect to accomplish our mission,” NSA Director Mike Rogers said.
The changes include new management structures that have left some career employees uncertain about their missions and prospects. Former employees say the reorganization has failed to address widespread concerns that the agency is falling behind in exploiting private-sector technological breakthroughs."

Re:State religion is wrong, but not evil
If we get more Muslims in over time, we'll also be getting some of the US-born ones to adopt US culture, which doesn't include pushing Sharia law
A noble, but unsubstantiated hope. Tsarnayev brothers grew up in America. And not in some "hateful" fly-over country, but in Boston, of all places. Omar Mateen — the Orlando-shooter — was born in New York.
And what did we, the US, get in exchange for the scores killed by these people? Are there numerous American-born Muslim scientists, inventors, engineers offsetting the carnage the listed assholes have caused? Not especially — should have been accepting more immigrants from Eastern Europe instead (like Asimov, Sikorsky, Brin, and Torvalds to name a few).
In Europe — so often used as an example for the unwashed Yanks to follow — the situation is, apparently, even worse.
You're confusing having a state church with the possibility of giving it a lot of influence in lawmaking.
I'm not — merlinokos is. The survey he referred to asked the question: "Would you like Christianity to become an official religion of the US". There was nothing in there about "giving it a lot of influence".
We're not talking about a general Christian movement in politics, but one generally rooted in fundamentalism, like Iran and Saudi Arabia to some extent
As I wrote, 300 years ago Christian White men thought up our nation. Most of them would've been considered "fundamentalists" by today's standards — their stance on women voting, or same-sex marriage would be most appalling. And yet, they've created the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, which neither Iran, nor Saudi Arabia, nor any other Islam-dominated society can come close to replicating. Because the Prophet made the mistake of officially bundling secular law into religious dogma.
Even if we do, somehow, go back to the opinions of those "fundamentalists" prevailing nation-wide again, we'd still be a much healthier and freer society, than what our Muslim immigrants are used to. That a large number of them, foolishly, wish to replicate theirs here — while we nod understandingly and purr about the "wonderful tapestry of diversity" — should worry you much more, than any Christian thought.
The reason I do not care about Muslims wanting Sharia law in the US is that there are too few of them to effectively push it.
Islam is the fastest-growing religion in the US and the world. Though it is an Individual's right to choose any faith (or none at all), it is also the State's right (duty!) to keep track of people choosing, what's likely to make them hostile to and oppressive of the rest of the country.
If Brendan Eich could be fired from Mozilla for privately opposing homosexual marriage, how could supporters of the firing be welcoming towards people, whose preferred legal system calls for killing of homosexuals, married or not?
-
Re:Sooooo
Eichenwald wrote lots of fake news for Newsweek for the benefit of Clinton during the election. Like this one.
-
Re:Evidence, please.
Doesn't change the reality - Podesta's email was not hacked. As for stirring up the China-Taiwan situation, it should be. China is going to have a larger military than the US at some point, so either stand by your allies now, or you'll end up with even less credibility, same as Obama kept drawing "big red lines" that shouldn't be crossed, and when the barrel bombs and the chemical warfare started, did absolutely NOTHING.
And you're ignoring the facts if you claim that the DNC process wasn't rigged, you're being wilfully ignorant. resigned over it and was immediately hired by clinton. But first, she tried to muzzle MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski, demanding he resign after he complained about the DNC's bias against Sanders.
As for Sanders scaring people to the republicans, give me a break. Polls showed Sanders with a 20 point lead over Trump. The only reason many people voted for Trump was because they couldn't bring themselves to vote Clinton. Look at the 3rd party votes - how many of them would Sanders have scooped up?
Clinton was unelectable, even after the DNC diverted funds to support her campaign that were supposed to be shared with the state campaigns, reserving 99.5% to Hillary. And let's not forget the scam to get around FEC maximum donor contributions.
Certainly hypocritical for a candidate who said they would fight for campaign financing reform and undo Citizen's United.
And we have yet to see any proof that Russia interfered. However, given that Clinton herself admitted that she tried to interfere with Putin's election, stop being so damn hypocritical. The US has interfered in elections in many countries, including it's allies. Why not look at how the CIA undermined ally Japan's election as just one of over 50 examples since ww2. Or go back further and look at the origins of the term "banana republic".
It's stuff like this that has nobody believing anything the government says without ironclad proof. All we've heard is people citing other people's opinions. Opinions are like assholes - everybody has one, and they tend to be full of shit on a regular basis.
-
Who you calling "friends of Putin"?
The Friends of Putin Club
The friends of Putin have lost the elections and are spending their hours in the waiting rooms of the therapists dealing with grief.
Here is, what real friendship looks like
- The idiotic "Reset" of 2009.
- The 2010 abolition of all sanctions imposed on Russia for Putin's invasion of Georgia — in the (wane) hope of gaining cooperation on Iran — thus, as predicted, inviting Putin to repeat the same scenario in Ukraine and Syria.
- In 2012 ridiculing Mitt Romney's suggestion, Russia may be hostile to the US. Hillary Clinton was particularly scathing.
- Routing billions of dollars of investment into Russian high-tech industry, some of it, obviously, with military connections.
- Getting richly rewarded by Russian companies (all of them on Kremlin's tight leash).
Trump? Oh, yes, he wouldn't reveal his tax-returns, so he must be on Putin's payroll. Right...
-
Re:So...
Most of my friends are die-hard Republicans, but I don't know a single person who (admitted) voting for Trump. I suspect that's because this election wasn't really fought along typical Republican vs Democrat, leftie vs rightie lines.
And that's exactly what it is. You'll find people from both sides of the isle voted for Trump because of what Hillary stood for. The reality is there was more support for Trump because he wasn't establishment, she was. They feel that the current state of government doesn't represent the people. That's why he had the support. The media is at a loss, and still hasn't learned anything from it though.
A lot of people like myself, who are or were heavily invested in politics saw this coming. This has been building for ~20 odd years, and it's very close to reaching the full-on shoot politicians in the streets. The Tea Party stuff was a warning sign, just like AfD, FN, and so on are warning signs. The media refused to listen, the politicians refused to listen. In the end Trump is far less extreme then the next candidate would have been. Just like Le Pen is, just like Frauke Petry is.
I also think there are a lot of people who are in the "I would never vote for Trump" crowd, because they don't want to be associated with some of his more bizarre stances, who secretly voted for Trump when no one was looking.
It's more likely they don't want to be targeted or attacked. You can seem multiple cases of that all over the US. Unlike the people who claimed "Trump supporters" attacked them. Those people who made the claims are being charged with filing false police reports. Off the top of my head, I can think of fake rape, fake assaults, fake vandalism, fake flyers, fake deportation letters, fake claims of harassment and mugging.
-
Re:Interesting side effect: No pardon for Hillary
Why on Earth would Hillary ever need a pardon? She didn't do anything wrong. Would your news knowingly endorse a criminal who needed a pardon? Huh, that's odd.
If your news endorsed Hillary, you might be reading fake news. If your news is telling you to stay away from alternative media, you're definitely reading fake news. Keep seeking out new opinions and new news sources, people! Don't let the mainstream media tell you what's fake and what's not. They have the most to lose when you go to sites like Infowars instead of CNN or NBC. Of course they're going to protect themselves!
And as far as strife within the Democratic Party goes, IF - and this is a big IF - Trump makes sustainable improvements to the inner cities, the Democratic Party is dead.

I wonder what you'll make of this - it certainly won't go over well with Trump & the people who elected him

Re:Before you act like this is so nefarious...
I pointed out that Trump treated Obama like Hillary treated Obama.
1) I agree that you pointed that out, but comparing the birther movement to Hillary's 2012 primary campaign is just a strange argument that I cannot agree with. Birtherism is racism
2) Hillary is out of the picture now and using the "Hillary is worse" argument is meaningless. I am treating just Trump as he as treated others. . .you are utterly intolerant of anybody who doesn't toe the progressive party line.
Where have I posted this? You seem to be lumping me into some kind of group because I am treating Trump the way he has treated others. Me being intolerant of Trump is not being a bigot, and your misuse of that word dilutes its meaning for all the REAL bigots out there.
See "bigot" above. You have no idea how much time I have invested in finding out about this or past elections.
Again, you are misusing the word "bigot". Saying you seem lacking knowledge of Trump does not make me a "bigot" in any sense of the word. I am not saying you did not spend a lot of time on this, just that saying you are against Hillary because of her stance on gays indicates your time spent was not very productive. You don't have to feel bad, though. This is the place to make mistakes. I have no idea who you are and when you talk to people in public who do know who you are you will not embarrass yourself now. .
.Clinton's support is rooted in her advocacy of economic redistribution in areas like healthcare, education, welfare, etc.; that is, people support her because they expect monetary benefits and expect others to be taxed to pay for them
All politicians redistribute wealth (yes, even Trump) and if you are against redistribution of wealth then you should go to North Korea. The biggest "redistributer" of wealth is capitalism, which requires a specialized government to support it.
You may not have voted for Trump but you certainly act like him.
See "bigot" above.
Again, I think it is time to expand your vocabulary. "Bigot" does not mean "someone who says things that I do not like." You are the one who started name calling and personal attacks because you could not logically defend your beliefs and the resemblance to how Trump acts is striking. No amount of name calling will change that. But this is a safe place to do that. It is also a safe place to admit that you jumped to conclusions and started name calling, and you are not really that type of person.
She will throw gays and lesbians under the bus if it advances her political interests, like she has always done.
Trump is going to appoint justices that will overturn gay marriage. Maybe that was not enough to vote against him for you, but saying you did not vote for Hillary because you support gay marriage is just completely wrong and not something you want to say to people who actually know you. You need to know at least that much about this topic. .
.Trump is president because of people like you, people who made the Democratic party such a bigoted and corrupt place that even gay immigrants like me left in disgust. Democrats won't come back until they kick people like you out.
Again, with the personal attacks. . . of someone you know so little about. How am I bigoted and corrupt? Where did my posts reveal that? Perhaps English is your second language? In which case. . . you are pretty awesome at English. However, "bigot" does not mean what your post implies you think it does. If you knew Japanese, I might be able to continue this discussion in a different language. . . but that seems statistically improbable. . .

Copies still exist.
Afraid not, we have copies of a lot of damning stuff thanks to Podesta. And just for comedy, it's coming out that this new FBI investigation came about because they were investigating Democratic Rep. Anthony Wiener (the infamous sexter) who recently divorced Huma Abedin, one of Hillary's closest aids.
But if the objective is to connect emails-Benghazi and conflate the two in votersâ(TM) minds (which consultants feel is an imperative here), Iâ(TM)m not sure we know whether we can credibly do that
Subject: Fwd: POTUS on HRC emails
we need to clean this up - he has emails from her - they do not say state.gov[Redacted] indicated he had been contacted by [Kennedy], Undersecretary of State, who had asked his assistance in altering the e-mail's classification in exchange for a 'quid pro quo,'
Source (n.b. this is from FBI, not Wikileaks).
The DKIM signatures also say the emails are unmodified and signed by hillaryclinton.com. Feel free to validate them yourselves.
Just for bonus points, here's Hillary talking about how they should've rigged the Palestinian elections.
Listen to Hillary talking about rigging those elections here.
This is a tiny sample from a huge list of damaging emails, too.
There's never been a better time to vote 3rd party.

Use their credit card information to overcharge them and scam them out of money:

Re:Good and bad exposures
This is why he is not prosecuted for espionage, but rather for rape . Of course, "rape" had to be redefined to include "unprotected sex when the woman consented only to condom-protected penetration".
It wasn't "redefined", kiddo, it's a matter of established Swedish law.
But that's even less of a stretch than the feat Anderson Cooper accomplished recently by redefining assault to include unappreciated kiss.
And here we have some more willful intellectual dishonesty. First off, yeah, kissing someone would be sexual assault. More importantly, though, is that the larger problem lies elsewhere in the conversation. You know, the whole "grab them by the pussy" part? I'm sure you didn't forget about that, right? So why leave it out?
